Yang gave one final tug on her ponytail, making sure it was pulled back tightly before slipping a boxing glove over her left hand. Her right hand didn't need any protection, thanks to it being pretty hardy metal, but her left still needed some extra cushioning. She rolled her shoulders back before turning to the punching bag that was in front of her. These were a special brand, designed to be punched and kicked, and Yang liked them better than traditional punching bags. After all, she used her feet almost as much as her fists during a fight. She let out a breath before going at the punching bag, unleashing a flurry of punches before spinning around with a kick. Really, the workout was to let off some steam more than anything else. Even though Thrax was dead, Yang still felt like he'd left a mark on the city, one that could never be washed away. He'd certainly left his mark on her, and now it seemed he'd done the same to Weiss. Any news about the LaFayette family always included testimonials from her parents that she was recovering fine, but Yang wasn't sure how much they could be believed. Weiss was rarely seen out of the house nowadays, and her face always seemed passive, like she wasn't letting her emotions show. Yang wasn't sure what exactly was going on, but she had a feeling that Weiss wasn't recovering as well as her parents said she was. It made her a little anxious, and she hoped getting a good workout here could help quell any anxious feelings she was having.

Dimitri walked into the training room with his duffle bag full of guns that needed to be tested out. At the sight of an unfamiliar face, he stopped. He remembered his brother saying that there was a new officer in the department, but Jim hadn't said anything about it being a girl. Dimitri smiled and walked over to introduce himself. "Hey. Don't think I've seen you around here before. Name's Dimitri Colt."

Yang gave another swing of her fist before realizing that someone had spoken to her. She turned to see that it was a man, a bit older than her. Probably an officer she hadn't met before. He introduced himself as Dimitri Colt. "I'm new," she said before holding out a hand for him to shake. "I'm Yang Xiao Long." The guy seemed friendly enough, although his last name sounded a bit familiar. Wasn't there another officer here that had the last name "Colt" as well? She couldn't recall. It certainly wasn't any of the officers she was close with.

The name seemed vaguely familiar to Dimitri. As he thought about where he had heard the name from. He felt that he had heard it from his brother. "Nice to meet you Yang. Welcome to the force." He said shaking her hand. "You wouldn't happen to know my brother Jim would you?" He asked.

As soon as Dimitri asked if she knew Jim, Yang realized why the last name had clicked. Jim's last name had been "Colt" as well. "Yeah, sort of. I mean, we spoke once." Their last encounter had been a bit rocky, considering that Jim still remembered the time she had seduced him to get out of trouble. But they'd manage to start a tentative friendship. They probably wouldn't be best buds, at least not for a while, but at least they'd be able to work together if need be. "I didn't know he had a brother," she said.

Dimitri wasn't that shocked that Jim hadn't mentioned him if he had just spoken to her once. "Yeah he's a little more reserved. He's really great though. Give him some time, he'll be friends with you in no time." He said with a wink. "Everyone treating you nicely?"

Dimitri seemed pretty confident that Yang and Jim would become friends in the future. Did that mean Jim hadn't told him about her flirting with him to make a quick getaway? Maybe that was something he'd kept to himself. Yang probably would have done the same thing in his shoes. Dimitri seemed like almost the exact opposite of his brother. Or, at least, a lot more easy going. He had plenty of smiles, and even a wink, to throw around. Yang wondered if he was like that with everyone or if she was just a special case. She nodded when he asked if everyone was treating her okay. "Yeah, everyone on the Others Unit is good to me," she said. "I knew some of them before I even joined, so I guess you could say I had a foot in the door before I even decided to become a cop."

"Glad to hear it." Dimitri said. When she said that Yang had known a few members before she joined, he wondered if it was Sunshine. Sunshine had always seemed like the person to get other people interested in joining things. "If you don't mind me asking, was it Shunshine that got you interested into joining?"

"Sort of," Yang replied. "Shadow had the idea too. And my boyfriend was totally in favor of it." She still remembered that day when the three of them had come to her house and presented her not only with the new arm, but with the idea of joining the Others Unit. She'd been resistant at first, but had soon warmed up to the idea. Now, she felt like it was the best decision she could have made. She was working with people she liked, she could put her fighting skills to good use, and she was helping people. What more could she want out of a job?

If Dimitri was asked he would admit that he was a little disappointed that Yang was spoken for, but that didn't mean that they still couldn't be friends. It just meant that he would have to tone down the flirting. "You know Shadow too? Didn't think he got out and socialized much." He said with a smile. "Glad to hear that he's making friends." As he talked to her his eyes caught sight of the metal arm. "How'd that happen?" He asked in the same tone he had when he was worried about Jim.

Yang gave a little laugh. It looked like Shadow's anti-social demeanor was kind of a thing around here. "Yeah, not the most social of people. But he's nice once you get to know him. Loyal guy too. You know you're okay when he's got your back." That was really what Yang valued most in Shadow. He may get a "lone wolf" attitude sometimes, but if his friends needed him, he was there in a heartbeat, ready to help them however he could. The subject changed to Yang's arm, which she figured was inevitable. If people didn't ask about it, they just stared when they thought Yang wasn't looking. It was something she'd probably have to deal with for the rest of her life. "Got tangled up with Thrax the night he staged that massive jail break," she replied. She felt like that summed everything up pretty nicely.

Dimitri laughed at Yang's very accurate description of Shadow. "Yeah he's a really good guy to have your back. He's saved me and Jimmy more times than I can count." He said rubbing the back of his neck. He let out an impressed whistle. "I was in Baton Rouge with my brother on a case back during the whole Thrax issue. From what I heard he was a tough SOB."

Yang gave a little smile. That sounded like Shadow: always there to save the day when people needed help. If he wasn't so stern and serious, he could be a superhero. Then again, Batman was like that too. He and Shadow would make a good match. At Dimitri's comment about Thrax being a tough guy, Yang nodded. "Yup. Took forever to finally get a hold of him. Then he can't even last in the prison hospital for more than a week. Talk about a downfall." Thrax had started off as this big and scary guy, but had just hit this downward spiral once he could barely go out for fear of being found by Pitch. Seeing Adeline as a lost cause sent him over the edge as well, and after that, he just kept sinking lower and lower until Cinder finally put him out of his misery.

"Woah. Talk about disappointing." Dimitri said. "Must have used up all his power beforehand." He said thoughtfully. "Wonder what caused such a downward spiral." He said looking at her with an eyebrow cocked, silently asking her to fill in the gaps.

"Losing faith in Adeline was certainly the spark," Yang replied as she rolled back her shoulder, working out any loose joints. "You know, the girl who summoned him in the first place? She refused to be his puppet, and after not being able to win her over, he kind of lost it. Then constantly being hunted by Pitch kind of put him over the edge." At least, that was what everyone was theorizing. It sounded pretty legit to Yang though. Adeline had been Thrax's main target for a long time. He'd only switched to Weiss because Adeline refused to give into her demon side. And honestly, who wouldn't go nuts with the threat of Pitch raining down on them? Thrax probably couldn't leave his hideout for five minutes without risking getting caught by Pitch's Nightmares. It would have driven anyone over the edge.
