"Hmmm... I don't think that's what he'd be worried about," Aqua laughed. "I just don't think he would want to share you with everyone!"
Adrien had gone to extreme lengths to keep Yang (and now Namine) out of the media. He even had even threatened to sue the company of the photographer who had grabbed Yang. To be fair, the recordings did show that the guy grabbed Yang first. It was clearly self defense. Then Adrien had sprinklers installed at Yang's place while he jetted her away to a private island so she could unleash water on unwanted visitors. He was clearly devoted to her. Most everything he did, he did on her behalf or to please her. Even the way he hung out with her at his own party, beelining straight for her, playful nudges, small smiles, clearly show how much he adored her.
"I'm not sure," Aqua said. "Namine's situation with the BPD is difficult. She feels like she's indebted to them for saving her from her father. At the same time... some of the humans in the office just treat her like part of the furniture. I'd like to see her move on, but it's ultimately her decision."

"Well, at least the feeling's mutual," Yang said. She and Adrien were devoted to each other, through and through. Anything that had threatened to stand in their way had been bulldozed down. Some might have even considered it a miracle that they were still together. The odds certainly hadn't been in their favor. But Yang wasn't a big believer in luck. Sure, unlucky things might happen, and she'd had her fair share. But you could turn that luck around if you worked hard enough at it, and that was what she'd done. On the subject of Namine, Aqua seemed as unsure of what her decision would be as Yang did. Upon hearing the comment about how some people treated her like part of the furniture, Yang's eyes narrowed. "Do I need to knock some heads around?" she asked, cracking the knuckles on her left hand. Namine was pretty much family now, and Yang would defend her if need be, even if she didn't know her that well.

She smiled. Adrien and Yang were sweet. She was just glad that Yang found someone like Adrien. The young man had done a world of good for Yang, sticking with her despite everything that had happened. While Aqua didn't know him personally, she already liked him. He was loyal, caring and kind. He also seemed to fight for the underdog, considering how many charities benefited from his company's well doing.
"I've spoken to a few officers already," Aqua said, shaking her head, "They forget in their haste to solve cases she's just as human as anyone else."
She hated to say it, but Namine also needed to start fighting a battle or two for herself. She was so reliant on others saving her from her own problems. It was a part of human growth to become stronger through trials. At least that was what Aqua learned by growing up among humans.

Aqua's response made Yang settle down a bit. As long as Namine wasn't getting picked on horribly, Yang was alright with not getting involved. Omar, on the other hand, that was a different story. It was only thanks to begging on his part that she hadn't tried to chase down the thugs who'd held him in that church in the first place. Yang didn't like seeing her friends hurt, no matter the reason. It was a protective streak that she'd always had, whether it was with her friends or the kids she used to look after. She never hesitated to step in and protect them. Just because she wasn't quite as hot-headed as she used to be didn't mean that urge hadn't gone away. "Well, I just hope whatever decision she makes makes her happy," she said. That had always been her simplest wish for the people she cared about. It didn't matter if they thought they were the lowest of the low. She felt like they deserved happiness.

"I'm sure she'll be happy." Aqua said. "Things have changed drastically for her over the last few years, but all in good ways. I mean, look at her now."
That was the best part. Change was a human thing. Not always good but not always bad either. Constantly in motion in their short lifespans, humans come a long way in the time they have. They were wonderful beings. This only reconfirmed her desires to continue living among them. She smiled brightly. She was so proud of how far that Namine had come. Yang had overcome obstacles as well. All with help from those she cared about.

"I think that could be said for all of us," Yang said. Sure, some sucky stuff had happened, but it all turned out okay. Yang's life was very different from how it used to be, and she'd changed as a person too. She was a little more patient and not so wrapped up about the past. She'd let go of the things that had hurt her, and while she may have felt broken for a long time, she was whole again now. Even some of her own friends had changed for the better over time. Omar had found his long-lost daughter, and his family had grown considerably. Shadow was no longer the loner he used to be. Adrien's life was more free than it had eve been. She knew it wasn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows from now on. Life was sure to throw some more nasty stuff. But Yang felt like she could deal with it better this time around.

"To us?" she asked, raising her half empty glass of soda in a salute.
They had all been through so much. But she was delighted to find that despite all the hardships all of her friends were pressing on, becoming better and moving past trials. She smiled. To think, the girl that she once met on a case was now an officer after being through so much hardship and tribulations. She counted Yang as a good friend now, one of Aqua's few friends.
"You know, we need to do this more often," she said.

Yang smiled as she raised her soda. "To us," she agreed, nudging her cup against Aqua's before gulping it down. She and the fairy had been through some pretty rough times, and yet here they were, finding love and enjoying the life they had. It made Yang feel pretty optimistic about the future. When Aqua suggested they should do this more often, Yang nodded in agreement. "Definitely. I'm gonna want updates on how you and Omar are doing," she said with a grin. Granted, Omar would probably tell her what was going on too, but it was nice to get both perspectives.

"I don't exactly kiss and tell but I think I'd make an exception if you share news about you and Adrien." Aqua said with a smile.
She and Terra kept their relationship to themselves. No one made a big deal of what they were or were not. But back then, Terra was the only person Aqua had. She preferred what she had now to what she had back then, even though she didn't regret what she had for Terra. She wanted to see where things would go with her and Omar. She wouldn't know until she gave what they had a try.

"Deal," Yang promised. Yang was open about her relationship now, although she'd been hesitant with it at first when she'd first started. There had just been so much uncertainty on her part, and Adrien was worried about how his fans and company and social circle would react to her. In all reality though, things had turned out pretty decently. Most of his fans were cool with her, and even said she was inspiring with how much she'd recovered. Adrien's staff at the company didn't seem to mind too much if she ever popped in for a visit. Anyone who was on the top rung of the social ladder probably had their judgments about her, but any negative feedback from them was pushed aside. The opinions of total strangers weren't what mattered to her, or Adrien for that matter.

Aqua smiled shyly. This was her way of opening up more, forcing herself to talk about things she wasn't used to talking about. But Yang would never use what Aqua told her against her. She wasn't like that. She smoothed a hand through her head. Things were different but not in a bad way. It seemed she had finally found her peace after all this time.
"It's getting late. I should probably head home." she sighed.

Despite all the fun they were having, Yang did have to agree with Aqua. It was getting late. "Yeesh. I need to finish this up," she said, looking down at the last bit of her pizza. She chowed down on the rest of it in one bite, washing it down with the rest of her soda. "I'd better get going too. Gotta work off all those calories somehow." No doubt work or a run around the neighborhood would set things right. She had lots of energy now that she had some food in her. "I'll see you around, okay?" She gave a smile, feeling glad that both she and Aqua were in a better place than they used to be.

"Let's do this again sometime," Aqua said.
She smiled over at Yang after she cleaned up her dinner mess. She had enjoyed her evening with Yang, even with all the teasing. Yang didn't mean anything by it. Aqua had even teased her back, because they were having fun. She was genuinely happy for her. Aqua could share the sentiment. They had both fallen hard and had managed to pick themselves back up with the help of new important people in their lives. She never would have expected the young woman she met on a case could become such a good friend of hers. Irony at it's best, she supposed.
