As Lilith's power settled over Adeline like a fine mist, she began to glean things about the young witch. Brief images like photographs passed across her mind and a variety of feelings came with them. She continued to silently stalk around her while sorting through them and soon enough she found what she was looking for....
"Oh, you are quite right my little stray. While you may contain traces of our blood, you are not one of us. And we are not human, no matter how well we play the part. No me, not Thrax...."
And here she paused, her steps coming to a sudden stop as she stood directly in front of Adeline.
"And not dear Pitchiner."

Adeline's eyes widened at the mentioned of Pitch. This woman knew him? Or did she just know about him? There were sure to be demons who had heard about the guy. It was kind of expected. A demon suddenly giving up his criminal life and joining the Others Unit was sure to spread like wildfire. Or had this woman actually known Pitch, back when he was known as the Bogeyman? The two of them could have teamed up back in the day, when Pitch wasn't quite so nice as he was today. The idea of her getting near him though frightened Adeline. Thrax might not have been the most powerful demon ever, but he hadn't been afraid to play dirty if it meant getting at Pitch. And he'd managed to hurt him pretty badly once. If this woman tried to hurt him...Adeline didn't even want to think about it. "Pitch is more human than anybody I know," she said defensively. "He may have been like you once, but he's not anymore."

"For the moment..."
Lilith let the sinister words sit heavy in the air of the club. Standing in front of Adeline she seemed so harmless, looked so much like an angel herself. It was hard to believe that she could ever pose a threat to anyone, that she was indeed a demon herself. And yet Adeline wasn't to be fooled by her guise even if she had been drawn here by a trick.
"So, you believe that a Demon can love, that he's not a Demon anymore just because he pretends to act otherwise.... how cute."
Lilith's smile turned into a mocking look of pity.
"Tell me, kitten, did dear Pitchiner ever tell you what happens to a Demon when it dies?"

Adeline frowned. This woman could think she was foolish all she wanted, but she wouldn't change her mind. Pitch's love for her was real, she knew it. The only time she ever doubted he cared for her was when he'd tried to cut her out of his life. The only reason he'd done it in the first place was because he cared about her, and wanted to end their relationship before he could fall any further in love. It had taken a lot of prodding, and some yelling, on Adeline's part to get him to finally show how he felt. At the mention of where demons went when they died though, Adeline got quiet. Didn't they just go back to Hell and that was that? Was she implying that was where Pitch would go? Adeline's arms wrapped around herself, not liking what this woman was implying. Pitch wasn't exactly a saint, but then again, who was? He did lots of good now, and he could truly love someone. Wasn't that enough for his past sins to be forgiven?

Lilith could see that her words were affecting the girl, could see the way she crossed her arms over herself as if that would protect her. And now that the She Demon could see her barb had hit it's target, it was time to make it really her.
"Oh dear, he hasn't. Not surprising really. I suppose he wishes to spare you the pain."
Lilith let a sorrowful look spread across her beautiful face and put a hand over where her heart would lay. However, the wicked gleam never left her eyes.
"You see, dear Pitchiner is a Demon, no matter how he acts or what he does. And if he dies he will indeed return to Hell, oh yes. And he will be reborn, cleansed of everything that came before. He will be made anew."
And with the hollow mask of pity still on her face, Lilith began to slowly step towards the young witch.
"Do you understand now, little stray?"

Made anew? What would that mean? Would Pitch forget about everything from his past life? Would he forget about her? A thousand awful possibilities ran through her mind, but she tried hard to shake them away. Pitch dying wasn't something she could worry incessantly about. If anything, she and Pitch were worried about the fact that he would live on for a long time, while she continued to age and grow old. The possibility of him dying first hadn't really occurred to her. Maybe it was because Pitch had seemed so invincible when she'd first met him. He'd always been calm, cool, and collected. He was powerful, especially with his Nightmares at his side. But his near brush with death thanks to Thrax's emerald dust had been a huge reality check for her. Pitch may be a powerful demon, but he had his weaknesses too. She shook her head, not wanting to think about it. "You're trying to make me doubt him. It's not going to work," she said, trying to sound confident. "Do you even really know him? He's certainly never mentioned you."

A moment of silence passed, a moment of such complete stillness and lack of sound that it was as if some force had rendered them all deaf. Even the steady beating bass from the club seemed to disappear as Lilith paused and stared at Adeline.
And then she laughed. The laugh was so high and so sweet that it seemed to shattered the second of silence that had descended in the wake of Adeline's question to the She-Demon. Oh, it really was so amusing! Just thinking about the little witch's words brought on another peal of laughter from the pale, inhuame creature that stood before her. And then she spoke in the same amused tone, a wicked smile on her face and her words carefully designed to strike this girl hard, to make her reel.
"My deal kitten, I don't have to know him to kill him."

Those words made Adeline's blood run cold. Figuring out why this woman wanted Pitch dead wasn't important to her. The fact alone that she wanted to kill him made her petrified. Thrax nearly managed to do it, and he wasn't even the most powerful demon around. If this woman got her hands on Pitch... "You wouldn't," she said in a trembling voice as she remembered the agony Pitch had suffered at Thrax's hands. Thrax hadn't been afraid to play dirty, and hearing Pitch scream as the emerald dust had hit his eyes was one of the most haunting things Adeline had ever heard in her life. She hadn't even known Pitch had been capable of making a sound like that. It had nearly made her lose control, and she could feel it slipping away again this time. She couldn't let this woman get a hold of Pitch. She couldn't be responsible for him getting hurt again. She could feel her demon side rising, and she struggled to keep it contained. She hadn't let it out in so long, she couldn't slip out now. Her demon side, combined with the necklace full of energy around her neck, the results could be catastrophic. But if she could take out this woman now, Pitch would be safe. Even if she just managed to hurt her, it might be enough. "I...I won't let you." The words came out strained, her hands starting to shake.

"I can. And if he doesn't remember where his true nature lies, I will. My Master has insisted upon it."
She spoke the words lightly as if what they discussed held little importance or significance to her yet the reddish-purple glow in her eyes sparked with a promise. That look was enough to show she was deadly in earnest.
The girl, Adeline, seemed to freeze for a moment before something in her seemed to break. Her whole demeanor altered and the air seemed to shimmer as demonic energy poured off her slender frame. However, if this sudden change worried Lilith at all she didn't show it. Instead, she smiled.
"Ohh, this little kitten has claws."

Adeline's eyes widened. This woman's master...could it possibly be... Adeline didn't even want to think about it. But she remembered Pitch talking about his old master Disparion, and being his second-in-command before he'd been replaced. Was that what this woman meant? Was she serving Disparion, the Devil himself? The thought of him getting his hands on Pitch was even more terrifying than the woman finding him. She couldn't let that happen. If this woman found out where Pitch was, he was as good as dead. Disparion was the leader of all the demons. If he had someone as strong as Pitch as an underling, she didn't even want to imagine how powerful he was. Her control was slowly slipping away, and the woman's taunting finally pushed her over the edge. "Shut up!" Her voice came out loud, almost explosive. And immediately afterwards, her eyes glowed red and demon energy swirled around her. This was the first time she'd lost control because someone she loved was threatened, and the power it gave her was even more than when her anger was the cause. "You won't lay a hand on him, you hear me?" she growled. "'I'll tear you apart before you touch him."

Lilith watched the spectacle silently and didn't say anything as Adeline made her threats, the energy around her surging until it circled her like a black cloud shot through with red. Even her eyes had changed from mild amber-yellow to a bloody red. The She-Demon observed all this as she stood less then three yards away from the young witch.....
And then she yawned. She covered her mouth elegantly with a single hand more as if she had yawned in polite company then faced with an enraged half-Demon. And when she finally removed the hand and spoke, the tone of her voice was one of boredom.
"My dear, I don't have to lay a finger on him to hurt him."
And before Adeline had any chance to make sense of Lilith's words and her true intentions, the pale woman turned slowly to present her side to the witch before extending her arm and pointing a single finger at her. For a moment the air seemed to fill with some kind of scent like ozone and the very atmosphere became breathless, heavy. In that instant the backstage space of Mina felt exactly like the air just before a thunderstorm breaks and the lightening begins to fall....
In the next instant, a blinding line of jagged energy shot from the tip of the She-Demon's finger directly towards Adeline.

Adeline felt her power increase, like a volcano that was overflowing with lava. She'd felt like this before, when Thrax had hurt Pitch with the emerald dust and she'd frightened him off. But that was nothing compared to this. Adeline couldn't live with the guilt if Pitch got hurt again because of her, or anyone else for that matter. What if someone like Axel or Namine became the next Yang, and got terribly hurt? What if Jenna got tangled up in all this? But all the power she had on her side was no match for the speed and deadly accuracy that this woman had. Energy shot from her finger like a lightning bolt, and Adeline didn't have sharp enough fighting instincts to dodge the attack. It struck her on the shoulder, and she screamed as she fell to the ground. The pain was like white hot fire, searing her flesh. She clutched her shoulder as she struggled to her knees, teeth grit together as she struggled to keep hold of the demon power inside her. She didn't even care what this woman did to her anymore. She just couldn't let her, or Disparion, get to Pitch.

Lilith's attack was right on target and hit Adeline squarely in the upper part of her right arm. A blinding white light filled the air and immediately the girl's screams overpowered the electrical hum that had come a moment after the lightening struck. The scent of burning flesh began to permeate the air as the witch fell to her knees and clutched at her badly burned arm. While the young girl's powers, a mixture of her own witchcraft and the demonic force that had melded to her, was incredibly potent and formidable she had no idea how to control it.
Lilith slowly drew her arm back to her side as she watched Adeline where she had fallen to the dusty floor. A mixture of contempt and perverse pleasure showed on her lovely inhumane face as she stepped towards the young girl, the pulsing red lights that surrounded them looking like gore more then ever.
"So tell me, dearest little Adeline. What do you think would hurt Pitchiner the most? The physical wounds I could inflict on him directly? Or perhaps something else..."
Here she tapped her chin with a thoughtful look on her face that made her all the more sinister for its almost playful quality. Suddenly, a vicious smile split her lips as she knelt down so that her face was on the same level as Adeline's.
"I know! How about breaking the one Mortal he was foolish enough to fall in love with, the one Mortal foolish enough to fall right into my trap...."

No, no, no, no! Adeline struggled to fight back, to do something, anything. In trying to avoid Pitch getting hurt because of her again, she'd ended up doing exactly that. The woman had played her like a fiddle, getting her mad and making her lose enough control so she'd be an easy target. It was like her meeting with Vanitas all over again. "No...I won't..." She tried to stand up, but as soon as she moved, her shoulder flared up again. She gave a cry as she fell back to her knees. She could feel her power fading, the pain of her injury too great for her body to handle. Her eyes flickered from red, to gold, to red again. She could feel anger and frustration welling up inside her, mainly at herself for acting like such an idiot. And now, Pitch might have to suffer again because of her stupid mistakes.

Lilith watched Adeline struggle before her, the smile on her lips lovely and poisonous at the same time. However, as the witch's struggles began to weaken and her eyes flickered between red and gold, the smirk dropped from her face and she only watched with a cold predator's eyes from where she knelt in front of her. For a time she didn't make a move towards the young girl, didn't strike out at her again or send another bolt of electricity. All she did was watch her struggle with no expression at all on her face. After an unknown length of time, she finally moved.
However, she merely reached forward to where Adeline lay and lifted her chin up so that she was looking directly into those horrible violet eyes, eyes that had seen centuries of existence in a hellish inferno.
"Don't worry, dear. You won't remember me or anything of what happened here. I'm going to take that all away now. All you'll know is that you've freed the Demon inside and that will be enough for you. As for Pitchiner, well, he best remember where his loyalties lie or this will only be the beginning."
And before Adeline could even move to try and stop her, the She-Demon bend forward and kissed her on the forehead. The brush of her lips over her skin was gentle, almost motherly and yet with the touch came a sense of something being drained from her mind. However, Lilith was not feeding on life this time but on the young girl's very memories.
