Adeline wasn't sure what drew her back to Mina after being away from it for so long. Maybe she'd just been paranoid that Cruella knew what she did after her last stunt. But she hadn't seen hide nor hair of the club owner since they'd met, and Adeline figured that if Cruella figured out she'd set off the sprinklers, she would have done something about it by now. So, Adeline figured she was in the clear enough to check on the place, see if any other teenagers were heading there tonight. She wasn't sure if her turning the sprinklers on had much of a difference, but at least she'd prevented some kids from going in there that night. She had to keep that in mind. And honestly, the guilt would have eaten her up if she hadn't done something that night. A lot of her past actions had ended up hurting people, it was nice to do something that had a positive effect on someone for a change. She lingered in an alleyway, watching the club from across the street. A lot of people were being let in, although Adeline couldn't tell if they were the predators or the prey. Either way, it looked like no teenagers were being drawn in tonight, so that was a relief. Although Adeline couldn't help but think about everyone else in there. Couldn't she do something for them? She doubted she could set off the sprinklers again, that would be too much of a giveaway. She didn't want to rush in without a plan. She wanted to think things through this time around.

As Adeline stood across from Mina, a light wind suddenly picked up along the street where the blood-red of the neon sign pulsed. And as the wind blew along the way, scattering litter before it, a sudden bang echoed down the buildings to where the young woman hid.
It wasn't a particularly loud bang, nothing like a gunshot, and after several moments the bang came again. And again. It continued insistently as the wind continued to softly howl down the street.
A sudden movement further along the building that housed the club revealed the source of the sound to be that of a door banging. The heavy wooden door rocked back and forth, striking the brick wall behind it with a hollow bang each time the wind picked up. It was strange to see the door hanging open like that to a place like Mina's, a place where the doorways were regularly prowled and protected by muscle-bound bouncers.
Stranger yet was the way the door seemed to sway in the wind almost like an invitation, enticing someone to enter the place....

The banging sound nearly made Adeline jump out of her skin, and for a moment, she thought that maybe a fight had started outside the club or something. But she soon saw that it was a door, being blown back and forth by the wind. It was almost odd, the way the weather shifted from relatively calm to suddenly gusty. Adeline pushed her hair out of her face as she glanced around. Nobody else seemed to notice the disturbance. Maybe the pounding music from the club was drowning it out. Either way, it looked like it might be a good way to get inside without being noticed. She wasn't sure if the bouncers outside would recognize her, but better safe than sorry. She left the safety of her hiding spot and made her way towards the door, trying to ignore any nervousness she felt. She'd pulled this off once before. She could do it again, right?

Despite the fact that the club's main entrance was only down the street, the throbbing music and chatter of voices had grown strangely distant. As Adeline drew closer to the door she didn't notice several pairs of eyes watching from the darkest recesses of the buildings, waiting.
The wind had picked up again, the door swaying almost like a hand gesturing for her to come closer still. The breeze blew sharply for a few moments before dropping away with the sharpness of one's breath being cut off. The silence stretched for one second, two....
Suddenly the air was pierced by a terrible scream, a cry of pure pain and fear. The screams were almost inhuman in their intensity and broke the stillness like a fist punching through glass, echoing out from the gaping mouth of the doorway. It was as if the person were enduring the most horrendous tortures that had ever been created but the worst part of it was that it was a voice the young woman could recognize. It was a voice she knew only too well and they were screaming for her!
"Adeline! Adeline, please help me. Help meeeeeee! Adelineeeeee!"

Almost as soon as Adeline came close to the door, the wind making it blow back and forth suddenly stopped. She paused, her hand reflexively curling around the necklace Pitch had given her. Just touching it made her feel a little safer, and she could still feel the slight pulse of all the power stored inside it. However, any safety she felt diminished instantly as screams sounded in the air. She felt like her heart had jumped into her mouth, and for a moment, she was frozen, unable to move. But then the screams started to form words, and they started shrieking her name, calling for help. Any thought of sneaking in quietly or thoughtfully vanished from her mind. She ran inside the door without a second thought, oblivious to any dangers that were present.

Even as Adeline raced into the open doorway, the screams continued. The inside of this section of the building wasn't anything like the front of the club. Everything was painted a uniform black from the floors to the walls to the scaffolding that rose up to the ceiling. Pieces of equipment were scattered about ranging from lighting fixtures to covered pieces of furniture. Clearly this part of the building served as a kind of backstage and storage room combination
If the shrieks had been loud from outside, they were truly unbearable inside. It filled the entire space with agonized and horror-filled cries that seemed almost beyond human endurance.
However, as Adeline stepped through the doorway something in them seemed to suddenly change. They were still screams, there was no doubt about that, but now they sounded different and almost like..... laughter. Yes, the cries sounded like corrupted laughter, something sickeningly gleeful and knife-sharp. If insanity was a single sound, it might very well sound like this.
And before she could do anything, the door behind Adeline slammed shut, cutting off what little light had been coming through the opening. With the bang of the doorway, the laughter abruptly ended too but left in its wake a silence that was beyond oppressive.
Into this silence came a single sound, echoing from the scaffolding above. It was the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs to where the young witch stood in the near darkness.

The shrieks only got louder as Adeline ran inside. She almost felt like she could be blown over by the sheer volume. With one hand still resting around her necklace, she cast frantic eyes about the room, trying to find the source of the screaming. But she soon heard the screaming turn into something else, something far more frightening. Bone-chilling laughter echoed through the room, bouncing off the walls, and it made Adeline's skin crawl. It reminded her too much of Thrax. Before she could even think about leaving, the doors slammed shut behind her. She gave a startled yelp as darkness enveloped her. Breathing heavily, adrenaline still coursing its way through her, she clutched her necklace more tightly as her other hand became enveloped in a soft yellow glow. It wasn't as good as a flashlight, but it was the best her magic could do right now. At the sound of footsteps, she instantly swiveled around. "Who's there?" she asked, having no idea what to expect. All she knew was that this situation was turning out bad.

No voice spoke out to answer Adeline but the steps continued all the same, steadily growing louder as they drew closer to where they young witch stood. Soon enough the echoing sound of the footsteps was close enough for whomever was approaching to be standing only a few yards away and on the ledge just above where she stood.
Suddenly the steps came to a stop and silence once again flooded the space, a silence all the more sinister for the inability to tell where the unknown presence now was. It seemed to stretch for an unbearable length of time until finally a sound broke the silence. And it was laughter. It was as soft and sweet and implacable as a pillow being placed over someone's mouth.
"Oh dear, it looks as though a little kitten has lost its way."

The footsteps stopped, and for a long moment, the only sounds Adeline could hear were her breathing and her heart beating fast. What was going on? Then, there was the sound of laughter, like the tinkling of a bell. Adeline spun around, her light revealing the source of the sound. Despite looking like an innocent woman, and sounding like one, Adeline recoiled. She could recognize one of her own kind, and this woman was far from innocent. She may have had luck in finding good demons, like Pitch and Axel. But she also had ones like Vanitas and Thrax on her plate. Something told her that this woman would end up on the latter category rather than the former. "What do you want?" she asked, trying not to look as scared as she felt. If things got bad, she could use the power in her necklace, but would it be enough? Power couldn't always overwhelm an opponent, and Adeline wasn't an expert fighter, not like the officers at the Others Unit.

Lilith acted as if the girl before her hadn't said anything and instead continued to walk towards her at a slow, elegant pace. Her face was lit by what little light filtered into this part of the club, making the smile on her face almost into a jack-o-lantern leer. And while her movements were as graceful as water, there was something about her that brought forth the image of crocs waiting below the surface to eat those who got too close.
She stopped only several feet away from the young woman, close enough where she was only just out of reach. She breathed in the scent of this girl and immediately scented Demon on her, that of Thrax and someone else..... She looked at her in utter silence and stillness and while the look lasted for only a few seconds, Lilith seemed to see everything with her striking lavender eyes. And suddenly, she shattered the silence by speaking.
"What do I want? Why to speak with you of course."
She took in another breath and it was then that she recognized the other demonic scent that mingled with that of this girl. She knew that scent well just as she knew of this girl's history with Thrax. But he had gotten greedy here in the Mortal World, had gotten sloppy and allowed himself to be killed.
As for the other demon presence she detected on this girl....
"My my, you've had quite the run in with Demons, haven't you? I can spell the demonic energy..."

Adeline's eyes narrowed, but she said nothing for a moment. She didn't know what this woman's intentions were, but she assumed they weren't good. The scariest part was how calmly she carried herself, how elegantly she spoke. With Thrax, there was always a hint of madness in everything he did. He'd been desperate to gain power and be in charge of a city that fell into chaos. It was like he needed to prove himself. This woman carried herself with much more confidence. Adeline wasn't used to dealing with people like that. Vanitas was probably the closest to this woman she'd encountered, and she'd been lucky enough to come out of that scrape alive. "Why would you want to talk to me?" she asked, not liking the way the woman was looking at her. It was like she was sizing her up for her next meal or something.

"Well now, because I wanted to. Of course, I could have let Cruella's girls have you after the trouble you caused them the other night."
Lilith didn't try to move closer to the young woman but instead began to slowly circle her, one finger lightly pressed to her chin as if she were inspecting a piece of meat. Somewhere towards the front of the club light had started to leak into the backstage, but it was harsh red in color and only lit the space fitfully. It made everything look as if it had been painted in gore and the pale woman looked as if she had just bathed in blood.
"They didn't appreciate the way your trick with the sprinklers ran off their prey. They do get so grumpy when they've missed a meal. Didn't you notice them stalking you from your little hidey hole outside the club?"
The She-Demon's expression didn't change at all as she spoke to Adeline. She wore the same small smile on her lips but the rest of her face as blank as porcelain doll, her true thoughts impossible to read.
"However, rather then take out their frustrations on you I get to have a little chat."
Her tone was so friendly and sweet, as sweet as honey poured over glass.

Adeline's heart skipped a beat. So Cruella had found out. Crap. If she didn't kill her first, Axel might once he found out. He'd explicitly told Adeline not to set foot near the Mina. Heck, the only reason she knew of the shady stuff that went on there in the first place was because of what he said. She wasn't sure which would make his reaction worse: if he found out from another source, or if she just straight up told him. She hadn't seen him super mad, but she knew he had the potential to be. If this woman was in league with Cruella, then she was definitely bad news, and Adeline wasn't sure which one she'd rather face. But, if all this woman wanted to do was talk, then Adeline felt like she had no choice but to go with that option. It was better than facing whatever cronies Cruella had sent after her. Adeline had a lot of magic on her side, not to mention her demonic energy. But she wasn't the best fighter. She could be taken down if she was outnumbered enough, or if her opponent outsmarted her. She let out a breath, trying to steady her nerves. She just had to keep a level head and look for an opportunity to slip out of this somehow. "Okay. Talk then," she said, looking the woman in the eye this time.

Lilith smiled at Adeline's words as if they were an invitation to partake in some kind of game. However, she didn't speak but continued to slowly walk around the young girl, forcing her to turn if she wanted to keep her in line of sight. And as she continued sedately around the enclosed backstage space, she slowly let her powers venture forth.
Most people who knew of her 'talents' mistook her power for some kind of mindreading ability and in a way it was. However, she didn't force her way into the minds of her victims, using power alone to crack open their mind like an egg and examine what it held. No, hers was a far subtler power because she didn't break into someone's mind and steal their thoughts. Rather she fed off the feelings, the very memories they exuded. Every being, be they human or Other, was a collection of experiences and memories, of desires and passions, of hopes and despairs, of hatreds and lusts.
Adeline was no exception. Slowly she let her aura settle around the young girl and taste her life even as she finally spoke in her quietly amused voice.
"Why, who you are or course!"

The woman continued to circle Adeline, and the teenager had to keep turning to keep an eye on her. She didn't want her out of her sight for a second. Her smooth-as-honey words contradicted the dark demon energy around her. Thrax had acted that way, once upon a time. He'd pretend to be civil, hold a conversation for a bit. But then he wouldn't get what he wanted, or he'd lose his temper, and his true nature would come out, and it was always terrifying and angry. Sure, Adeline had managed to stand up to him in the end, to protect Pitch. But she could recall that fear she felt. She was feeling it again, and it made her worry that this woman or Cruella might be the new Thrax in her life, forever hunting her down in order to gain something. "I'm not like you, if that's what you're trying to figure out," she said. "We may both have demon blood, but we're not the same."
