"..You need anything? I'm getting a refill and another slice." At least if he could get away from her, he could calm down by distracting himself. Sunshine had said that putting someone else's thoughts made any sense of frustration go away. All of the times he took her advice, it had worked. Plus, it would give Yang an idea that he wasn't angry at her and relax.

"Um..." Yang was caught off guard for a second by the casual question. "Just a soda's fine," she replied, pushing her cup towards him. Had he seen her get nervous? If people felt like they'd made her scared for some reason, they tried to make up for it. Her friends had especially been like that after she'd first lost her arm, and the slightest things would make her jumpy. Did Shadow feel like he was walking a fine line like she was? It looked neither of them wanted to get the other upset. But how long could they avoid this issue? Could Shadow really stay angry at Pitch forever, and vice versa? Yang felt like things were going to come to a head eventually, and when they did, it might happen at the worst time possible. But maybe this wasn't something to be rushed, like when Shadow was reluctant to confess his true feelings for Sunshine. He was most content about it when he could do it on his own time. Maybe the same should be applied to this situation.

Shadow accepts her cup. “Got it.” The stroll out was a clearing of the head. Of course Yang would look highly on her partner, it was natural. But of all people to get with, it had to be the demon that stole Shadow’s memories. The steady stream flowed from the font and he lidded it. The sound was surprisingly calming. The anger at Pitch was still there, but it was being pushed back. He ordered his second slice before returning to slide it back, He sat back with one last, very heavy, sigh.

Shadow seemed a bit calmer by the time he returned, but now Yang was at a loss for what to say. She'd already tried apologizing and promising not to mention Pitch. She didn't want to make Shadow anymore upset than she already had. She wondered if her friends had felt nervous like this with her, when she'd gotten upset and they were struggling to figure out how to make her feel better. She sipped from her soda, the silence getting more awkward by the second. At least, it felt that way to her. She glanced up at Shadow again, wondering if he was even in the mood for talk now.

Shadow was accepting of Yang's apology, but he didn't say it with words. He said it with just a subtle nod of the head. The issue, for now, could be swept under the bridge. For a while, the only sounds at the table were the sipping of soda and the rattle of ice in the cups. A few other noises were coming from the arcade, but Shadow wasn't listening to him. He looked at Yang, glancing at him wearily with her lavender eyes. "...So...have you got to see your kids in a while?" The old Yang and the Gang; That was something to get them back on common ground.

Shadow finally broke the silence, and it was a topic that Yang could jump onto easily. "Cody and Penny came down to visit not too long ago," she replied. "They finally got to meet Adrien. I think they hit it off pretty well." By the end of the day, Adrien had been giving Cody a piggy-back ride and Penny had thought him and Yang were like the princes and princesses in her fairy tale books. They were cool with him, and really, it was what Yang had hoped for. Her kids had been mistrusting of adults for so long, she'd been worried that they might get anxious or skeptical around Adrien. But, they'd liked him pretty well from the start.

"Oh, good. Did they get along with him?" If Yang and Adrien were going to be a big item, Shadow knew where Yang's other passion lay. It had been with the kids she saved so long ago. If they liked him, then the chances were it was going to be a good match. It was one thing to have your friends approve of your relationship, it was another to have someone so close that they could be family approve be another.

Yang nodded. "Yeah. Cody was riding on Adrien's shoulders by the end of the day. It was actually pretty cute." She gave a little laugh. "I guess they figure that if I like him, then he must be a good guy. They still trust my judgement a lot when it comes to some things." Even though her kids were settling in fine with their new guardians, and they loved them a lot, that old dynamic just came back when they hung out with Yang. They trusted her, and looked to her when it came to making decisions. It was easy for them to slip back into the habit after doing it for so many years. It used to worry Yang at first, since she didn't want to have more authority than their new guardians. But it hadn't seem to shift that way, so that was good news for her. If anything, her kids' guardians found it charming that they looked up to her, and they were still thankful to her for looking after them for so long.

Shadow smiled. Not just at the idea of Cody riding on Adrien's shoulders, but the idea the kids always looked to Yang first as a sort of judgment on people. Sunshine had been the same way when she joined the force. If ever she was weary about someone, she would look to Shadow for confirmation. A bit hard since he wasn't a social butterfly like her, but he did have those select few officers and workers he did trust and like. "Sunshine asked Rhona to be the flower girl at the wedding. It's coming up quick. I can't decide what's more stressful - wedding planning or catching crooks."

"I'd have to vote for catching crooks on that one," Yang said. "I'm sure it'll be fun and all, but I'd say I have more skills in giving knuckle sandwiches than making polite conversation." She was sure she'd have fun at the wedding. Sunshine was one of her closest friends, and a lot of other people she knew would be there. And she was already looking forward to dancing a bit with Adrien. But fighting was when she was really in her element. Sure, she hadn't had a ton of action since she'd started as a cop, but knocking people's heads around was something she knew how to do well. If someone needed her to punch a guy, or catch a criminal, or show off some fire to intimidate a suspect, she was the girl to call for.

"Tell me about it. Riku asked me to be his best man. We have a fitting and, well, let's just say I'd be lucky to fit in a ring bearer's cut," Shadow huffed. He was not the fancy-pants kind of person. The good news was, according to some of the planning, it wasn't a fancy boring sit down dinner. No, instead the venue was some closed off section of the bayou for a voodoo based wedding. A bit more exciting than usual to say the least. Hopefully no crooks decided to come in during the bash and crash the party. Maybe a few annoyed swamp dwelling things, but that was nothing. He was making notes to charge the inhibitor rings if anything did sneak on the shore. "You didn't hear it from me, bun Sunshine was going to ask you to be her maid of honor."

Yang wondered if being the best man would be awkward for Shadow. Nothing screamed "friendzone" more than being the best man at your crush's wedding. But he didn't seem to mind too much. Still, she made a mental note to keep an eye on him. At his comment about her almost being the maid of honor, she gave a little smile. "Yeah, I guess it would have been nice. But Weiss seems pretty happy about being it. She's really been throwing herself into bonding with friends and family and stuff." Yang was sure being in the wedding would help Weiss feel like part of the family. If she was honest, she would admit that Weiss seemed to be handling her trauma better than she had. It had taken Yang a long time to pull herself back together and participate in her life again. Weiss hadn't sulked around for too long before joining Omar's band and reconnecting with her friends. It was pretty admirable.

Yang was looking at him in confusion. He hadn't even said it, that he had smoothed things over with Sunshine in regards to the "having feelings for her". He was content on her being with Riku - better a Lafayette who cared than some drug lord or a murderer. "I did confess to Sunshine. Around the holidays. We talked it over and we...agreed that staying friends was best. I mean I can love her with friendship, that makes up for it. Besides, Riku's good for her, and I like him." Okay, good, now people could finally stop worrying about him. And Yang seemed okay with Weiss being the maid of honor over her. "You know, at least you don't have to be part of the planning drama. Yeesh, who knew signing up for a registry would take three hours?"

Yang did admit, Shadow talking about how he'd finally confessed to Sunshine and the end result from it did make her feel a little better. At least he wasn't jaded towards her for falling for Riku. Heck, he even liked the guy. Yang just hoped that he didn't let this unrequited love prevent him from falling for someone in the future. He deserved someone. At least, she thought so. "Okay, I'll stop being a mother hen about it," she said, laughing a little. It was just a habit of hers. If her friends were upset, she fretted about them until they felt better. Unfortunately, there were some problems she just couldn't fix, and Shadow's love life was one of them. She laughed again at his comment about the registry. "Maybe the hedgehog look threw them off?" she guessed jokingly. "They probably haven't had someone like you show up before."

Shadow chuckled. "What? You mothering me? Isn't that sort of...backwards?" He had been a mother hen about her for a long time. When she was on the streets with her gang, he deliberately steered people away from Stella so they would be left alone. But what good did that do? They were found out. In hindsight, Shadow realized it had been stupid to begin with. She brought up the hedgehog thing, and he could feel the heat rising in his face. There really hadn't been anyone like him at all. He was unique as the first successful homunculus creation. "Well, that and there are a few...other turn offs. There's the whole 'half-demon' thing. Sure, girls say they like dark, but...you get the idea." That and there was the problem of...well...being a eunuch by design, but he was not going to bring that up to Yang. That was private.
