"I think... I-It'll help if you talk to him about it," Namine said.
Riku would understand. He had to if he truly loved her. Namine didn't know what all they had been through, but it had been quite a bit. They all had. No one had a truly happy childhood among their friends. That being said, Riku was a good person. Namine knew it. Aqua wouldn't work with him if he wasn't a good person. She wouldn't have been so broken up about hurting him if she truly hadn't been sorry. She offered Sunshine a smile. Lance heaved a sigh, content where he was, despite the two girls talking over something very important. He was just trying to help make it easier the only way he knew how.

“You know, I’m having him over with my family for dinner. I can address some things there.
It was better than dumping it all over Namine. And Lance. The fog had sighed and the blonde cop smiled to scratch behind his ears. But then again, this was giving her a chance to bond with someone she was meaning to.
“Lance, you should get a job as a lap pillow,” she cooed to the dog

"M-Maybe?" Namine agreed. "T-Talking really helps."
She should know. She had gotten through a lot by talking about it. There were still things too tender for her to discuss even with Omar, but even she could see she had come leaps and bounds. She was now able to string together entire sentences without stammering. Though, it was still a nervous tick she hadn't broken quite yet. She was also living for the first time. Her friends helped. Her yoga classes with Adeline, her cooking lessons with Jane, listening to Omar's music at the bar (where she never imagined going), having dinner each night with Aqua, even Lance helped in his own way.
"He thinks he's a lap dog," Namine said.
Lance was much too big to be a lap dog. That did not stop him from taking every opportunity to curl up next to Namine when she went to bed. If she sat on the couch, she was fair game for him to try to laze on, no better than a couch cushion to the behemoth of a pet. Lance's tail wagged, as if trying to proclaim innocence.

“It’s funny hearing that, but I guess it’s true...” Sunshine mused.
She has lost her friends at the last two years of high school. The only people she spoke to on a social level had been her stepbrother and family. Oh, and the occasional workers at Nevermore or regular customers. But she never had a real social circle until recently. Bar trips and stay ins with Shadow, coffee with Yang, and now possibly outings with Weiss...and now Namine if the circle of friends blended into one another. Even Riku had been a shoulder to cry on, literally, and there were a few happy moments with him. Sunshine had been experimenting with gluten free flour because of him.
“I think because I lost friends I’ve been scared of trusting people. I’m getting better...I mean, I act positive and happy, but deep down I’m..actually sort of insecure, you know what I mean?”

It was a bit of a surprise to hear all of these insecurities from Sunshine. Namine had always thought Sunshine to be so well liked and so popular among everyone at their workplace. But then again, that was work. People were different outside of work. Namine had slowly learned that lesson. She used to worship the ground the police walked on because they had saved her from a bad situation. But not all the police officers saw her the same way.
"I-I understand," Namine said. "It's not easy."

“So what are your favorite things to draw? I’m a nature kind of person.”
Finally, something she had wanted to ask Namine for a long time. She was sure drawing criminal profiles got too dark. An artist that assisted the police was overlooked and often forced to draw what they wanted. As an artist herself, Sunshine knew how much of a creative damper that could be.

"O-Oh, um... People? I guess."
Namine had all but thrown herself into her work with the BPD. Rarely did she ever get to draw anything other than criminal sketches. And for a while, it could be enough. However, Omar asked she drawn an album cover and she did. It had been fun, but almost like she was breaking some sort of rule and being bad by doing something else. Adrien offered to let her draw for him, new fashion lines designed by her hand and it was tempting. Oh so very tempting.

“My hands and feet always look weird when I draw people,” Sunshine murmured. “It’s like I can do the body shape right, I can do the details on the clothing. Then I get to the body and I just...you know.”

"It's not easy." Namine agreed.
It had taken her a great deal of work to get any amount of skill down. Plus, everyone had their own likes and dislikes when it came to certain crafts. Namine herself hated using using pens. The ink bled and sometimes it stained her hands for days on end. Or until she had washed her hands so much they became dry and chapped. Her job just so happened to require her to be good at drawing people. Namine didn't exactly take joy out of her work, it was just a job. She did it because she felt she had owed the police.
"I g-get a lot of practice."

“You have more practice than me,”
She was still a beginner with basic art tools. She would have been laughed out of art school. Even with a portfolio, it would have been a tough go. The funny part was, she had a portfolio. Her high school teacher had been aiding her. Art had been her means of escaping the harsh reality of caddy drama. Her friends had all but left her to dry. Their loss. Now she had friends with police badges and would punch anyone in the face who so much as sneezed at her funny...well Shadow and Yang would.
“I don’t even know my pencil lead differences,” she said with a laugh

"M-Maybe we could draw together sometime?" Namine suggested shyly.
She had never drawn with another person before. It could be a learning experience for them both. A lot of the studios she tried to sell pieces to declined her art because it was all very clinical, drawn very much like the sketch artist she was. Without passion or life. She was starting to realize that now. She was trying to bring more life to her works, drawing more, sketching more random things, more exciting things. In turn, Namine found herself relaxing more and more. It helped with Lance being the big stress magnet that he was. He almost seemed to absorb all of her worries.

“You know, I’d like that.”
Sketching with Rhona when she was babysitting had been the most “practice” she got. Even then, that was teaching the bare basics like how to make water ripples or measuring using a pencil. Namine has about the same training. When all was done, Sunshine would need a major crafting binge to distract her or wind her mind down. She even pictured them sitting at a tea table at the Nevermore, talking pencil sketches over beignets and caffeine.

Namine flashed Sunshine a bright smile. She felt rather proud of herself, considering she was the one who took action to make plans. She was getting out and doing more - recovering from all the years she spent as just a wallflower. She was improving, slowly but surely. She wondered if her mother would be proud of her. She glanced over at Adrien's house. Lance seemed to notice this, because he placed a big wet kiss to her hand, nuzzling into it. His tail had started to wag again.
"J-Just let me know whenever you want to!" Namine said.

Sunshine returned the beaming smile back to Namine. Finally, someone she could talk to. Namine wasn’t becoming a few steps closer to becoming a good friend. Lance’s tail was bouncing. Oh, she couldn't forget the dog! Grabbing a corner of her notepad in her bag, Sunshine scribbled her phone number.
“Here is my number. Call me whenever you’re drawing muse is in the-“
Her phone buzzed. It was Shadow about something. Her smile to Namine was sad but understanding. She didn't want to leave.
“I’ll talk to you later, Namine. And nice finally meeting you, Lancelot?” She patted the dog.

"Y-Yeah! I'd like that a lot." Namine said.
She understood. Sunshine was a police officer after all. The crime never stopped in a city this large. She was likely getting pulled away for work. Namine just hoped that Sunshine would have enough time to relax in between all of this and her wedding plans. Otherwise, she might snap at someone she didn't intend to snap at. Or she would just have a mental breakdown. Weddings weren't exactly easy things to plan. Particularly when you have such a busy schedule already. Namine couldn't do much but if she could offer some stress relief via sketches and talks, she was willing to try.
"I-I'll give Adrien his invite! And I'll see you soon."
