Yang wasn't sure if she was imagining it, but with Sunshine's wedding plans going into full swing, there seemed to be a festive air at the coffee house and bakery. All the food for the ceremony was going to come from here, and no doubt the employees were happy to take part in the occasion. Working for the Seddons was probably fun for them, and they seemed happy to help the daughter of the family get ready for her big day. For Yang so far though, it was just a regular day. She'd showed up early for work, so she could take her sweet time during her lunch break, and that meant ordering a big sandwich with some lemonade and a beignet or two to boot. As she happily chowed down on her meal though, she noticed that there was particular staff member on duty today, one that she'd been trying to avoid. "Shit," she muttered as she spotted Moses not too far away. So far, she'd been lucky when guessing when to come to the coffee house to avoid him. It looked like her luck had finally run out though. She hadn't talked to him since she'd discovered his relationship with Vanitas, and the whole encounter still left a bitter taste in her mouth. But the weight of that secret, along with recently finding out Manolo's true identity, was weighing her down, and she'd been wondering if holding onto this grudge was doing her any good. She was caught between wanting to hang out with one of her oldest friends, and trying to avoid anything that had to do with Vanitas.

Moses was excited for Sunshine. He'd never really spent that much time with her alone, but she seemed nice and getting her happily ever after made Moses happy too. Though he was planning on leaving soon for another, better paying job, he still felt he owed a lot to Sunshine and had offered to be one of the help at the wedding. Today though he was planning on working his shift and then heading over to meet with Adrien Agreste to see if he qualified for the modeling job. He felt sure he'd get it, but he'd have to see. Just when things were calming down during the lunch rush, Moses spotted a familiar person staring at him. He felt a pang in his gut. He gave a little wave in her direction, unsure if she was still angry at him or not.

Yang's eyes widened. Crap, she thought. Moses had caught her looking at him. Granted, he responded in a very friendly way, but she hurriedly looked away, an awkward blush coloring her face. She had no idea how to deal with this. Should she try to talk to him? Get up and leave? Curse him out? All of them seemed to make her stomach churn in equal amounts. Although a past conversation with Shadow came to mind, and she realized which one she should probably go for. She'd attempted to try and convince Shadow that Pitch wasn't a totally horrible guy, but all it had done was make Shadow angry. He was still angry at the demon for what he'd done, and didn't seem to want to forgive him anytime soon. Yang had thought it a little sad, that this grudge had built up between them. How could she criticize the two of them for that when she was doing the exact same thing to Moses? She too was stubbornly holding onto a grudge and refusing to let go of it. She refused to be a hypocrite, so she turned back to Moses and gave a short, if a bit stiff, wave in return.

Moses smiled a little hesitantly at the stiff wave and popped his head into the kitchen. "I'm taking a few minutes off, things seem to be winding down. If things get busy again I'll get right back to work" with the confirmation that this was okay, he walked back out and set his things down behind the counter and walked over to Yang. "So...things seem to be going okay for you" he said cautiously as he walked up to her. He rubbed the side of his neck and sighed. "I heard about you getting with the model guy, that's really great. I'm really happy for you" he didn't mention he was planning on taking a job from her boyfriend. That might be a little too sore a subject. "I hope things are going well otherwise"

Yang's fingers tightened around her glass of lemonade. Moses was walking over, and she wasn't entirely sure what to say to him. However, he started the conversation, congratulating her about her starting a relationship with Adrien. It was nice of him to say, although his mention of her love life only reminded her of his, and she couldn't help responding icily in return "How's your boyfriend?" She immediately realized what she'd done though and her face flushed with embarrassment once again. She hadn't meant to let that question slip out like that. She let out a breath, trying to keep her negative emotions under control. She didn't want to explode in the middle of the bakery, literally and figuratively. "Sorry. I mean...thanks. How are...things with you?" The words came out awkwardly, although they were a bit warmer than before.

Moses flinched at the icy comment, and looked at her warily as she tried to correct herself. So she was still mad. Granted, he probably would be too, but still. "My...my boyfriend is fine" he said cautiously. "Growing restless, but ultimately fine. I talked to Pitch and Elsa and they're helping me get a better job so I can move him out of the basement and into my apartment, and work on setting up protections so dad doesn't come near us. Because that's still a problem. But overall things are going okay. I made some huge progress with Van and I think it's going well. What about you?"

So, Pitch and Elsa finally knew about Vanitas too. Yang wondered how they felt about that. She could at least guess that they were surprised about it. Had they been angry like she had? Obviously they couldn't have been too pissed off about it, or Vanitas would have been arrested by now. But it looked like things were moving forward, so he and Moses could actually have a relationship. Yang felt conflicted about that. On the one hand, she couldn't imagine Vanitas actually loving anybody. On the other hand, Moses seemed so happy talking about it. And if Yang was honest, she'd admit that it probably made him happier than anything else. "I'm doing fine," she said. "Pitch and I were partnered up at the Others Unit, so I've been working with him for a bit. That's been...interesting." That was the kindest way she could put it. She and Pitch were polar opposites. They were lucky they hadn't had any major arguments about anything yet. But they did respect each other, and they could unleash a whole lot of power if provoked enough. Yang knew they could do a lot of good if they used their talents the right way.

His eyebrows went up at the news. Pitch hadn't mentioned the partnership, but this was good! Two of his favorite people partnering up and working together? It was normally very good news. But these two people were about ready to give up on him, all for his love of Vanitas. He wondered if they ranted about it behind his back. They were better people than that so probably not. But still, he wondered. "I'm glad things are doing alright with you and Pitch" he said honestly. "Pitch has tried to help me a lot in the past. I just...ignored him and listened to my heart" he sighed. "Look where that got me"

Yang was quiet for a moment. Moses was looking pretty dejected. She might as well just come out and say what she wanted to say. She took a deep breath before speaking. "Look, I'm going to be honest," she said, pushing her drink aside as she looked at Moses. "I don't like Vanitas. We're probably never going to be friends. He's hurt too many people, and he's hurt me too." She paused for a second before continuing. "But I don't want to keep hating you. You're one of my oldest friends, and I've missed you. And I know he makes you...happy. What I'm trying to say is...holding a grudge against you isn't really going to do much except make us both sad, and I don't want to do that anymore. I'd like to be friends again...if you want."

Moses blinked. That was mature of Yang, especially for her. She was usually more bull headed and stubborn about things. But here she was, burying the hatchet so they didn't have to fight anymore. Moses smiled hesitantly. "I would really like being friends again" he told her quietly. "I want to get along again and hang out together, catch up on everything. I guess long story short is I don't want there to be any hard feelings between us" he looked at her closely. "I know he's not an easy guy to like, but could you try to get along? I'll talk to him about riling you up, okay? I just want everyone to not kill each other for a little bit"

Yang was quiet for a moment before responding. "I won't start a fight. That's the most I can promise," she finally said. Just because she had to act civil around the guy didn't mean she had to be nice about it. And if he pissed her off, she wouldn't hesitate to punch him. But Moses seemed so relieved that he and her could be friends again. She gave a little smile. "Now if only we could have Shadow and Pitch let bygones be bygones," she muttered, idly playing with the straw in her cup. It still bothered her a little, that the two still hated each other. Shadow meant a lot to her, and Pitch was a good partner. Both supported her, in their own ways. But past wrongs and grudges had built an impenetrable wall between them, and she wasn't sure if it would ever come down.

"Well, I suppose that's the best I can hope for. Now to get that promise out of him and we'll be all set" he sighed. Moses looked at her. "I'm not very familiar with the cops, but Pitch and your other friend Shadow don't like each other? What happened?" If it came down to it Moses was always on Pitch's side. Pitch was the first demon to show him not all demons were bad, and sympathized with him when he told him he loved Vanitas. It was all he could do to show support.

"It's...kinda complicated," Yang said, not sure how much she could spill. When it came to Shadow's past, he was very choosy with who knew about it. He only told those he trusted a great deal. But maybe Moses could understand a little, being half demon himself. Heck, Yang herself didn't know all of the details. All she knew was that Pitch had taken Shadow's memories and that Shadow was pissed off about it. She still didn't know exactly why Pitch had done it, or whether he could even give them back. She'd been too hesitant to ask either of them. "I'm not sure if there's much we can do. I think at this point, they can only work things out if they want to, and I don't think either of them want to do that right now."

"Complicated seems to be my forte" he said with a touch of amusement in his voice. "But I get it. It's private. If I ever meet Shadow maybe he'll trust me enough to tell me" doubtful, seeing as Moses was housing a known criminal. He doubted he could really be friends with any cop except Pitch and Yang. "I hope they talk about it and get it taken care of" he said earnestly. "It would be better if your force wasn't bickering on the inside and was united, at least, that's how I see it"

"We get along well enough to work. I think that's the most we can do right now," Yang replied. Sure, Pitch and Shadow might not be on good terms with each other, but at least they could still do their work without going for each other's throats. Everyone seemed content to let it stay that way though, even if Yang felt like something good could come out of them getting along. "I know what you mean though. Everyone's got issues and stuff they're trying to work through, and that can make work tense," she said. Sunshine was still jumpy around vampires, Aqua and Riku started off with a tense relationship for a while, Shadow had a plethora of things on his mind. It was too easy to let those things bleed into work and affect the team. Yang hesitated for a moment before adding "I guess even I've got some stuff that...I can't really talk about with them." Manolo came to mind, and her gut twisted with guilt. She still felt bad, about keeping him a secret. Who knew how the Others Unit would react if she'd let a wanted criminal go. But maybe Moses would understand? He was hiding a criminal from the cops too. Maybe he could sympathize.
