Aqua didn't know why but she was nervous. She was heading over to Tony's for dinner with Omar. Just the thought of it being a date filled her stomach with butterflies. Their 'date' at his house was fine. Jane was unrelenting in her teasing and Aqua had a minor accident with a cast iron skillet, but things had gone well. Enough so to leave her floating on cloud nine. Was this how Sunshine felt around Riku, she wondered? Aqua hadn't felt this way about anyone, not since Terra. But Omar understood that. He was giving her the time and space she needed to come to terms with the fact it was okay to love after having lost love. That alone made her heart feel ten times lighter around him.
But she didn't know where it was they stood. Yes, they had just become a couple, but they had also gone on dates before that. They had spent time with one another. She knew she had stronger feelings for him now that she wasn't holding herself back on some stupid hang up. She supposed she had thought that he couldn't possibly think of her that way. That he was being friendly on someone else's behalf or that was just the way he was. She shook her head, trying to think straight. She had already grabbed a table and now she was just waiting for Omar.

Omar was excited. He was going to see Aqua for another date. They'd had precious few in their relationship and Omar was happy they were having another one. The one at the house was nice, and Jane seemed happy to tease Aqua. But now they could be one-on-one and he was looking forward to that. Omar walked into the restaurant and looked for Aqua. His face split into a grin as he saw her and he gave a small wave before coming to sit across from her. "Hey" he said, that grin still plastered on his face.

"Hi," she greeted. "How have you been?"
Omar had been busy with work, as had Aqua. Someone had to cover for Riku since he was on his honeymoon with his wife. The department was two officers down and still needed to pull in the same number of cases. But she was grateful for some time off because she was starting to reach burnout. She had given quite a bit of time to the department in order to negotiate this night out. This one night would be just what the doctor ordered to get her back into ship shape.

He chuckled. "Oh, same as ever. Busy but happy. Namine is coming out of her shell, the dog keeps hogging my couch when she's over and just looking at me woefully when I tell him to get down. I think Jane's got feelings for...someone" he was pretty sure it was Shadow, but since she hadn't really talked to him about it aside from that one time, he wasn't going to tell anyone about it. "The band's been great, Weiss is fantastic and I got it so she gets free pepsi every gig, in case the older folk want a beer so she doesn't feel left out" he usually wanted a couple beers before leaving. It was a great way to unwind. "How's your job been with Riku and Sunshine gone?"

"Yeah, Namine told me she's going to take Adrien's offer and work for him." Aqua said. "Lance has really helped her. Even if she spoils him."
The dog had really brought Namine leaps and bounds out of her timid existence. She was going to the dog park, taking long walks, running him ragged over at Adrien's house (which had the biggest fenced in yard that a dog could ever ask for). In between that she was now doing yoga with Adeline and having arts and craft nights with Sunshine. She was healing. That alone did Aqua's heart some good. She was now the one trying to follow Namine's lead and be more social. Lance did help because the nights that Namine could not take care of the mabari pup, Aqua was the one taking care of him.
"Oh, do you know who has caught Jane's eye?" she asked. "But that's a relief about Weiss. I was worried about her."
Omar had been busy it seemed. Minding his girls and keeping the city from falling apart in his own way. She hadn't realized it before but Omar had one of the most gracious hearts she had ever known in her entire life. Even humans, whom her parents tried to encourage her to protect, were not as kind and as giving as the old troll.
"Things have been busy. No rest for us even if we're out two officers. I'm just glad they could have some time together, you know?"

Omar beamed at the news. She hadn't told him that yet, but that was great news. He gave her a look and smiled. "I do, but I'm going to keep it private until they themselves actually make a move towards a relationship" He nodded at the next comment. Weiss had worried a lot of people over the course of the last year, and now she was healing and coming into her own. He inclined his head. "Riku and Sunshine deserve happiness, and a break. Sunshine's been dealing with shit I've heard, and Riku's family name has been all over the papers with his parents and sister. Getting away and just being together is probably the best thing for them"

Aqua smiled. She understood how Omar wanted to let Jane come to terms with her feelings on this mystery guy on her own. Aqua and Jane weren't exactly closest of friends. Still, she was happy to hear that Jane was happy. Aqua now hoped the same could be done for Namine. The little blonde was making strides though. Either way, everyone she knew was happy beyond belief. It only served to help her own mood. She was absolutely beside herself in joy.
"Yeah! I'm glad things have finally worked out." she said. "No one deserves a break more than those two."

Omar nodded and smiled. "Everything is going so well, I'm half waiting for the other shoe to drop and everything go to pieces" he mused. "This much good? usually the universe decides to balance it out with straight up misery" He shook his head and reached for her hand. "But, let's celebrate what is currently good and right in the world, right? And that means ordering pizza and just having a good time"

It was a sour way of looking things. When they were waiting for things to blow up in their faces. But hadn't she been living the same way? She didn't know why, but Omar made her want to look forward to the future. Because she actually had a future. She hoped it was one with him. She had finally opened herself up and left herself potentially vulnerable to heartbreak.
"Yeah, I'd like that!" she said. "We should focus on right now."

He smiled at her. It was getting harder to think positive. He had so much to lose now, and almost had, several times. He didn't want to lose anyone for the time being. He wanted Jane and Shadow and Namine and Adrien and Aqua and everyone else to be safe and happy. He would protect this entire city, the people here were his people. He'd watched this city grow and flourish and he'd be damned if he let anything happen to it. "The here and now, it's the only way to live and stay sane" he said with a small chuckle. "Alright, what kind of pizza do you want?"

Aqua had a sinking feeling that Omar knew something she didn't. He seemed rather somber talking about their 'future' but she was still hesitant to push. They were still testing the waters in their relationship. At least she was. Omar seemed to have given his heart entirely. If Omar wanted to tell her, he would. She had to trust that he would.
"How about... supreme?" she asked.

"Alright, supreme it is. Do you want the cheesy breadsticks to go along with it? Breadsticks and olive oil are the only right way to do things I say" he grinned and then looked at her. "Are you okay? You look..." he waved a hand "kinda off" was it because of him? Had he said something to make her uncomfortable? He hoped not.

"Bread sticks it is then," she said, trying to hold back her laugh.
Omar was Omar. Still worrying over her. Maybe she was just reading too much into things. She had to stop doing that. Particularly if it caused more problems than it solved. So she was just going to let this go. Enjoy the moment. It wasn't exactly easy for her to let go, but Omar made her want to try. So she just smiled and waved a hand.
"It's just been a long week," she dismissed.

Omar cheered. He had a weakness for cheesy breadsticks. He had a weakness for bread in general, actually. It came in so many varieties and tasted so good when made right. He loved it. Omar tilted his head and motioned for her to elaborate. "Can't help you if you don't tell me what's up" he said gently. "It's good to talk about things, even if it's just small things. Saying it out loud puts everything in perspective"

"It's... what you said about living and staying sane," she fessed up. "Is... there something I should know about?"
Honesty. Relationships thrived on it. She tried to let it go, but Omar was apparently insistent. She didn't want things to be heavy. Or make him worry because she was overthinking things again. But she had to be open and trusting. Omar would tell her if something big was going on. He wouldn't lie to her. He had never done it before and wouldn't start.
