Weiss had wanted to see Elsa as soon as she heard what happened. She really did. But after standing outside her friend's house for almost fifteen minutes, she found herself unsure of what to do or say. All she knew was what she'd been attacked by a demon and that Sunshine and Shadow had found her. No other details had been given. Weiss didn't know how to handle this. From what she'd heard, Elsa had been pretty shaken up by the whole thing. And Weiss had never been good at the comforting department. If anything, people were usually consoling her. If she was honest, she might admit that she was a little scared at the thought of seeing her friend so emotionally low. Elsa had always been the cool and confident big sister in Weiss's eyes. She was always there to give advice, always there to lend a helping hand, and was a force to be reckoned with, both in and out of the courtroom. What was Weiss to do now that their positions were reversed? In the end, she'd walked away and gone to Raoul Park to sort out her emotions. She sat on a bench, looking dejectedly at the bouquet of flowers she'd gotten. They seemed stupid now, a mediocre attempt at cheering Elsa up. They weren't going to help this situation. She almost wanted to throw them away. She sighed, staring up at the sky.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!"
People walking along the sidewalks and paths near Raoul Park had already been giving the large man a wide berth but upon hearing his mumbling curses, they practically parted before him like he was a ill-tamed beast about to pounce. Not that Ralph cared one lick in that moment. He was far too angry and worried for little things like how he appeared to others to care. No, the only person he cared about at all in that instant was Elsa and it was her current state that had him so worked up.
He had just come from her house after seeing her. The Giant would have gone so much sooner if he'd only known what had happened, would have even shown up as soon as the police found her. However, the simple fact was that he wasn't a BPD officer anymore and didn't have access to their cases unless someone friendly at the station told him. And so he had only just heard that morning from Shadow about the attack on Elsa. And not just some random guy trying to mug her but a demonic attack no less.
He hadn't paused upon hearing the news but had taken off like a shot to the icy lawyer and his on-off lover's house. And what he had seen tore him apart. Elsa, so strong and calm, appearing so cold yet being one of the warmest souls he knew, was overcome with a deep sorrow and fear that he couldn't seem to break through. He'd done his best, tried to comfort her and let her know she was safe now. He'd promised to stay with her and see her through this. But for all his words he might as well have been speaking to an icy statue, a cold and hurt reflection of the woman he loved.
Despite not seeming to help much, he had stayed with her for most of the morning before leaving, promising to come back and stay with her after he'd gotten some food. In truth, he had left so that Elsa wouldn't have to see how much her own pain was hurting him.... or how angry it made him. Now that she couldn't be effected by his own feelings, he let them start to bubble up until he was practically seething with hatred for the person that had harmed her and empathetic pain for what she had endured.
Eventually his steps took him into Raoul Park as the part of his brain still functioning rationally told him it would be good to go somewhere with lots of space. That way he could vent without lashing out at innocent people. It was a good idea. If looks could kill he would have already been wanted for mass murder and it was all he could do to stalk into the space before aiming a powerful kick at a soccer-sized rock lying next to the path he was currently on.
The kick was firmly felt and the rock rose a foot into the air before striking the ground and rolling. It's momentum hadn't fully dissipated when it struck the leg of a nearby bench that was occupied, causing the whole thing to jolt violently on the spot.

Weiss didn't really hear the rock coming, or see it for that matter. She didn't even realize it was heading her way until she felt it crash into the side of the bench she was sitting on. She gave a yelp as the bouquet of flowers tumbled from her lap and onto the ground. She clutched the back of the bench in fear for a moment before she realized that there was no impending disaster like an earthquake or something. She noticed the soccer ball-sized rock, and a pretty sizable guy not too far away. Her first reaction was anger and that maybe the guy had kicked the rock towards her just for shits and giggles. She angrily started to march over, yelling "What the hell, man?" However, as she drew closer, she realized that the man wasn't exactly a stranger. True, she hadn't met him in person, but he was a source of news every once in a while. Detectives often were, and there was only one giant private investigator that she knew of. "Ralph...Lacour?" she asked.

Ralph hadn't even noticed that his kick had aimed the rock at an occupied bench and was walking away, his mood as bad as ever, when he heard the angry yell from behind. Turning quickly, he saw a young woman with white hair and blue eyes walking towards him. And despite his own current mindset, somewhere in the back of his mind he thought she looked familiar.
However, instead of trying to figure out where he'd seen her before he merely glowered down at the young woman. Even when her own expression softened and she hesitantly spoke his name as if it were a question, he wasn't in a rush to let his own bad feelings go.
"You have a problem? Or did you just come over here to tell me my own name."

Weiss frowned. "Chucking rocks at benches where people are sitting is kind of a problem," she retorted. Of course, she realized right afterwards that responding at Ralph's yelling with more yelling wasn't going to solve the problem. She let out a breath, getting herself under control. She wasn't going to start a shouting match. That was something the old her would do. Besides, Elsa had mentioned Ralph more than once, and the two were close. If Elsa liked him, then he couldn't be all bad. Did he even know what had happened to her? If he did, it might explain why he was angry. "You're close with Elsa, right?" she asked, deciding to get straight to the point.

Ralph didn't even bother trying to respond to the pale girl's accusations and was already turning away from her, ready to storm off into another part of the park. However, suddenly the girl spoke the very name of the sole person he could think about, bringing him up short.
He glared over his shoulder, body still tense but the smallest wedge of rationality starting to pierce through his rage. Elsa. This girl knew who Elsa was. And somehow she seemed to know that he cared for her.... or was that simply a lucky guess?
"Yeah, who wants to know?"
However, now that he was paying more attention to the young woman, he felt a name suddenly sit on the tip of his lips. Still frowning, he turned so that he was facing the young woman and after a few seconds of intense silence, the name finally came to him.
"You're one of the LaFayettes..... Riku's sister."

Ralph seemed to react the same way Weiss did a moment before: retorting angrily, then responding again slightly calmer. It looked like what had happened with Elsa was causing both of their emotions to run high. Maybe that could be the thing to bring them together and put some of this tension behind them. "I'm going to see her," she replied. "Or was, at least." She recalled her messy feelings earlier, and how she'd wondered what on earth she could do to comfort Elsa. The bouquet of flowers she'd brought still sat dejectedly on the bench. Ralph soon recognized her though, and made the right guess that she was a LaFayette. She was used to that though. "Yeah. My name's Weiss," she said, formally introducing herself.

Ralph didn't say anything and merely gave a small nod. However, his brown eyes took in the girl, Weiss's, own unhappy expression and the bouquet of flowers that sat on the bench she had occupied. Clearly she knew about Elsa's current state to some degree.
"Well... Weiss. If those flowers are intended for her don't expect much of a reaction. Elsa's not..... she's not doing so good."
Talk about the understatement of the year! If Elsa was only doing 'not so good' then he was a pixie. No, whatever had happened to her had rocked the once proud, indominable lawyer to her very core and left her in a deep depression. And it filled him with both rage and sorrow to not be able to reach her, to help the woman he loved.

Ralph almost seemed to confirm Weiss's earlier thoughts. The flowers were a stupid idea. "I figured. I just...I don't know. I'm not so good at the...whole comforting thing. And people usually give flowers to those who don't feel well, so I thought..." She sighed. Was she making any sense? She could be confident enough when dealing with light things, like small talk. But the heavy stuff? That was difficult, especially with strangers. Hell, she was still working on talking about the heavy stuff with people she loved. She had to constantly remind herself that her friends and brother were always willing to listen to her. Elsa had done that plenty of times before when Weiss wasn't feeling so great. She wished she could do the same now for her, but she wasn't sure how.

When Weiss looked down unhappily at the bouquet of flowers meant for Elsa and spoke of not being good at discussing feelings, Ralph realized how his comment might have come across as condescending.
"Oh, no no! I didn't mean it like that. I mean, I'm sure she'd love the flowers normally. Its just that right now..."
He lifted his shoulders and dropped them in a somewhat guilty shrug, not sure what exactly he was trying to say to this young woman whom he barely knew.
In the end, he simply didn't know what to say and gave an aggitated sigh.
"Guess you aren't the only one who has trouble putting feelings into words. And what do I know? Maybe you'll have better luck making her feel better than I did."

Weiss glanced up. It looked like Ralph had a hard time putting his feelings into words as well. Maybe that was something they had in common? How did Elsa manage to end up with two emotionally stunted dorks? She almost smirked at that thought. However, when Ralph said that she might have better luck making Elsa feel better than he did, that caught her attention. "You've seen her already?" she asked. "Has she said anything about the demon that attacked her? Do you know anything about that?" Weiss wasn't sure if they'd found out exactly who did it yet. Or if they did, who knew if they could share that information with a civilian like her. But Ralph was a private detective. Surely if Elsa or the cops had any information, they'd share it with him.

Ralph had been frowning at the ground, running a large hand through his reddish-brown hair, when Weiss suddenly began to ask if Elsa had been able to give a description of the demon that had attacked her. Ralph blinked in surprise at the intensity of the girl's questions before feeling a need to protect Elsa start to rise up in him.
"Look, if you really are Elsa's friend and you go see her, don't start shooting off questions like that. The last thing she needs right now are people questioning her about what happened. The BPD already took a pretty hard run at her with that and she doesn't need to relive the whole thing again."
Ralph's tone had grown hard as he spoke, the frown never leaving his face. Weiss might think she was helping Elsa by trying to find out who had attacked her, but honestly the best thing she could do for her right now was simply be a sympathetic friend. No more.

Weiss bit her lip. Ralph had a point. Elsa didn't need more interrogation right now, especially from her. "Sorry," she said, her eyes downcast. "I just...I've had some run-ins with demons myself. If anyone had a lead maybe I could...help?" Of course, there was a slim chance of that happening. No doubt the police didn't want civilians going after whoever attacked Elsa themselves. But if there was anything Weiss could do to help, then she wanted to do it. She had first-hand experience with Thrax. And that Eve woman...who knew where she ended up. Weiss hadn't seen her in a long time, but she remembered how she used to think of the woman as a friend when she'd been bonded with her shadow spirits. Of course, now she was smart enough to know that she was dangerous, and probably didn't have the best intentions.

Ralph hadn't meant to come across as harshly as he had but one look at Weiss told him that yet again he had allowed his anger to get the better of him. Sighing, he rubbed his brows and knew before the day was out he would most likely have a massive headache to cope with on top of everything else.
"Look, I'm sure you're coming from a good place. Heck, even I knew you've had some run-ins with demons before."
That was true. While he might not have recognized her right off the bat, Ralph could remember how the Lafayette's had thrown an extravagant party over a year ago only for it to be crashed quite literally by the now deceased demon Thrax. Weiss had been there, had been involved, and had done her part when things got dangerous. And if some of his sources were correct, the young woman might very well have had interactions with other demonic forces. He didn't know the details or exactly what had occurred but it had somehow involved her powers connected to shadowing beings.
Either way, those dealings weren't the same as going after a demon or even investigating one. No, whomever had done this to Elsa would be pursued by the BPD Others force. The question remained on whether they could bring them in.
"But this isn't the kind of thing you should be getting mixed up in. Whoever it was that attacked Elsa, she knew exactly what she was doing. And if Elsa is right.... well, she could be very dangerous."

So, it looked like the only thing they knew so far was that whatever had attacked Elsa was female. Weiss wasn't sure how much that helped. But she knew where Ralph was coming from. Heck, Riku would probably tell her the same thing: Let the Others Unit handle this, you shouldn't push yourself too hard, I'm sure being there for Elsa is enough, etc. "Yeah, I guess," she replied. "I just wish I could...I don't know, do more. Elsa's helped me out a lot. I want to do the same for her, you know?" Surely Ralph could understand that much.
