Oh. So that was still a no-go. At least they were a little closer now. At least, Yang hoped they were. Project Shadow probably had a lot of data to go through. It might take some time to sort it all out, and then figure out if it was actually useful or not. "Anything I can do to help?" she asked. "I mean, I know I'm better at punching things than solving mysteries, but I just feel..." Her voice trailed off, not wanting to seem like she was complaining. Sunshine had enough on her plate as it was. And Yang knew she was doing good by taking out any monsters running around the city. She was helping keep citizens safe. Still, she felt like it was comparable to putting a band-aid on a wound that needed stitches. Shadow was stuck in purgatory and all she could do was punch random monsters in the face. That wasn't really helping him.

Sunshine pursed her lips in thought. A lot of cracking the codes when it came to Project Shadow had beeen mostly mental work. It was even more of a mental workout because she had to use her brain. Yang was being incredibly sweet offering her assistance. Truth be told, she needed someone's help. She was trying to do all of this by herself, when really, she forgot the most important thing about being in the Others Unit. It was about being a group. Wasn't that the very first thing she learned from Shadow? Wasn't that kind of dishonoring his memory by forcing everything herself? "I get it. Truth be told, I've been bad about asking for help about all this; Shadow wouldn't want me doing all of this by myself." She took a sip of coffee and sat up, "maybe the next time a demon comes in, we can take him down together. I need some practice on the physical side anyways."

Yang gave a nod. "Okay. That sounds good." She may not feel like she was doing much, but Sunshine probably appreciated any little bit of help she could get. Even the small things could make a difference. Yang had to keep that in mind. She was quiet for a moment before asking "Think any other...demon people we know, might be able to help?" she asked. Pitch was the person she had in mind. The guy used to work for Disparion, after all. Of course, that was all Yang knew. She didn't know for how long, or what had made Pitch switch sides. But maybe he knew some things that could help. Yang wasn't sure if Sunshine was up for talking to him right now. She and Shadow were still on less-than-decent terms with the guy.

Sunshine's green eyes went down to the coffee. It was a bit of an easy way out, talking to demons to beat the ultimate demon, but it was something she had been considering. "I have been contemplating it. There's a bartender at the Bourbon who's of demon blood that Shadow seemed to get along with. Maybe we can talk to him. I've been trying to call Pitch, but he never picks up his phone." As of late, the fear demon had been absent. Normally, Sunshine wouldn't have minded and brushed it off as him being his usual self. Yet the fact he had been absent for an increasingly long time disturbed her.

Yang's stomach churned uncomfortably. What the hell could Pitch be doing that was more important during the apocalypse? Did he make a break for it for fear that Disparion would have a bone to pick with him? She quickly shook that thought aside. Pitch wouldn't do that. He may be cold and distant, but he wasn't a coward. Maybe Yang could put some effort into trying and find him. Any other demons she knew didn't exactly fit the bill. Moses and Adeline had never been to purgatory, or been in league with Disparion. Maybe Moses's dad would know something? She wondered if he would even try to get in touch with him right now, even if it was to save the world. She'd have to look into that. Until then, this demon bartender guy seemed like their only other option. "I can try looking into that," she offered. "If Shadow got along with him, he's probably not too bad."

"Thanks, Yang." Sunshine gave a small reassuring smile. The upside to having a former street kid on the squad was that some times, they had the social skills to interact with people the police would normally be putting behind bars. "See, you're more than just the muscle of the group! I hope you know that." She and Shadow had always spoken highly of her when the naysayers reared their ugly heads.

Yang gave a little laugh. "So you keep telling me," she joked. Still, she liked the fact that she could at least help with this investigation. She figured she'd get more confidence in her deductive skills eventually, she just needed practice. And even before the apocalypse, there was always a never-ending list of mysteries to figure out. The Others Unit always had some kind of case to solve.

Sunshine gave a small smile. "He loved you, you know. I swear whenever he ran into you and caught me up on what was going on, I never saw him proud of anyone else before. Not counting his own deeds," she said with an eye roll. Shadow would be so proud of Yang. She was fighting to keep the city he promised safe. Far better than anyone else. "And our job just gets messier and messier with all the supernatural shindig."

Yang couldn't help but feel a little proud about that. The last thing she'd wanted to do as a cop was let down the people who'd help her become one. It would have been a crappy way to pay them back for all they'd done for her. So far, it looked like she hadn't. Then again, Shadow probably never doubted her. He knew what she was capable of. Hell, he thought she'd make a great cop even when she didn't. She'd had her doubts and fears, but he'd known she could overcome them. "He's helped me out a lot," she said. "I just want to do the same for him now."

Sunshine gave a small smile. "It's ironic. He was created from something so evil yet he did so much good..." That was when it hit her. The professor probably did that on purpose. Disparion's ritual was meant to kill the person who let him into the world to cause the apocalypse. Instead, it sent Shadow to purgatory because he had something a man-made life form didn't have; a heart. She thought about the chip Aqua, Jim and her recovered from the empty shell that had been the lab where Project Shadow had been forcibly shut down. "I may have figured out a way to reach him that doesn't involve entering purgatory..."

Yang looked up when Sunshine suddenly went quiet. Something was going on. Yang could practically see the gears turning in her friend's head. Something had just clicked, but what? "Sunshine?" she asked, right before the blonde dropped quite the bombshell: there might be a way to get Shadow back without going into purgatory. Granted, Yang would have been completely willing to go there if it meant finding Shadow, but since they were completely stumped on how exactly to do that, an alternative might be a better answer instead. "Really? What are you thinking?" she asked.

"So Aqua, Dimitri and I found this weird disc in the abandoned lab. I'm waiting for tech savvies to finish studying it and figure out what's going on. I got a call from them the other day. They said whatever computer they put the disc into automatically blew up. What if it's....and I'm totally grasping at straws here...what if it's meant to be read by a spirit, not a machine?" It sounded crazy just saying it out loud. There were plenty of spirit experts they could talk to that still worked inside the law. But with something this big, they would have to keep their options open to recruit anyone that was outside as well.

A disc that was meant to be read by a spirit instead of a computer? Yang had never heard of such a thing before. But the guy who made Shadow seemed to have a pretty even blend of technology and the supernatural. Maybe it wasn't too far-fetched. If it could lead to getting Shadow back without having to go to purgatory, then Yang was willing to pursue it. "We might as well try. I mean, what have we got to lose?" she asked. It was the end of the world, after all. If this lead to nowhere, then things couldn't get worse.

"Lack of sleep?" Sunshine asked with a mirthful laugh. She had done some research on voodoo and spirit stuff just so she could impress her husband. Well, correction, impress his family. She doubted there would be awkward Thanksgivings or family get togethers since Weiss was no longer in the Lafayette's custody, and Ciri and Jacques were both in jail, but from what she understood from Elsa, a lot of attorneys could be bought into lessening jail times. "I'm just ready to have my powers back. Using the moon thing Dorian gave me is making me sleepy."

Yang gave a little laugh. "Lack of sleep I can deal with. Once we sort this whole thing out, we can get all the catch-up sleep we need." That is, assuming that the city wasn't in too bad shape after this whole apocalypse was over. Even if they found Shadow, got rid of Disparion, and put things back to normal, they'd probably be cleaning up all the damage for weeks. That wouldn't be very fun. Maybe it was better to just focus on fixing this first. Yang could worry about clean-up duty later. Sunshine mentioned Dorian, and while Yang had only seen the guy once or twice, she did know that he had a kid. She hoped that he'd found a way of keeping his daughter safe. "Well, we definitely don't want you falling asleep on the job," she said, although she couldn't exactly say the same about herself. If this disc that Sunshine found had a chance of leading them to Shadow, Yang wanted to keep going until they found him, sleep be damned.
