Omar leaned on the balcony as he watched the clouds get painted pink and gold as the sun sank past the other buildings. It was beautiful. Whatever had happened was properly over now. Not that he could leave yet. Davie was being his usual self and making excuses for why Omar had to stay longer. It had gotten to the point where one if his girls had called him. Davie had nabbed the phone and negociated a "good will dinner", to show that Omar was fine. Omar was glad, trying to find something to keep from being bored in the mansion was getting harder, given how he and his master were tht only ones there.
"Omar, it's almost time for her to show up" Omar sighed and moved to go into the hall.
"Got it. The prime rib should be done in a few minutes, and everything else. Just in time" He really hoped Yang wouldn't yell at him. He hadn't even wanted to come here. He adjusted his black turtleneck and ran a hand through his hair. This should do.

As if Yang had needed anymore stress during the apocalypse, finding out that Omar was gone with only a note left behind certainly didn't make her feel any better. Anytime she tried calling him, someone else answered, and it made her nervous. She couldn't help but remember the time Puck had abducted Omar and stuck him in a church. Was that who was behind all this? Regardless, a dinner was scheduled to smooth things over, and Yang arrived at the address, silently praying that she wouldn't find Omar badly hurt. This guy wasn't making a very good first impression. Spiriting Omar away without telling anyone, not letting anyone talk to him, what was his deal? But rather than have an angry mob of Omar's friends show up at the front door, Yang had decided to go by herself. At least this way, she could find out what was going on and report back to everybody else. Letting out a breath, she knocked on the front door.

Davie opened the door, his hair and beard immaculate as always, and a black and white tee-shirt and cargo pants. He had insisted on host greeting the guest. Omar had found it slightly funny, seeing as that tradition had only been a thing the last century ago. For them, this was modern. Davie smiled charmingly at Yang and waved her in. "Omar didn't mention how charming you looked" he told her in a fairly friendly way. Omar rolled his eyes and walked over to Yang.
"Hey Fireball. Thanks for coming. Food is cooling, we can sit in the sitting area till the buzzer rings and I can put it in the dining room. The guy who let you in is Joseph Korso, a fey lawyer" Davie smiled at her, eyes bright.
"If you are a friend of Omar's, either Davie or Black Jack is fine, really. They are my proper titles"

Yang's eyes just narrowed in response, although her expression did soften when she finally saw Omar. And to her relief, he seemed alright. She gave him a quick hug as she said "It's nice to see you. Someone else has been answering your phone." She shot the man a look, who apparently was named Korso, although he seemed to prefer a nickname. Maybe it was a fairy thing? They could be touchy about names. She wondered exactly what a fey lawyer did, but that was probably a question saved for later. She entered the mansion, looking around. It was certainly as fancy as Adrien's, maybe even more-so. But unlike her boyfriend's, she didn't feel much warmth or comfort. This whole situation just seemed fishy to her, and she didn't want Omar getting hurt again. When Puck had taken him, she hadn't been able to do anything. She refused to let that happen a second time.

After brief hesitation, Omar hugged her back. "If he gave you permission, call him Davie. It is his real name" he whispered into her ear before letting go. Yang had no idea how to handle the temperamental Davie. Omar had a feeling he neefef to give hints so Davie didn't turn her into a boulder. It felt like half the stones in England were really cursed jumans from annoyed fey. If he could avoid that, Omar would.
"So, Yang, Omar tells me you are a police officer. That must be quite interesting" the way he looked at her was akin to a hawk looking at a small but feisty kitten. Like a challenging meal. Omar carefully inserted hself between Davie and Yang.
"Why don't we move to the sitting room? We can have civil conversation there" he gave them both a small warning look as he led the way, his arm gently around Yang's shoulders. Davie might try to rile her up and Omar could tell she was already super tense. "I hope you found the place alright" he told Yang with a faint smile. "People usually can't unless they have an invite. I have a permanent invite" he gave Davie a sour little glare, which Davie responded to with a frightening little smile.

Yang glanced at Davie for a moment. So, that was his real name, huh? Good to know. Although the way he looked at her made her hand wrap around her prosthetic, a nervous habit she'd developed ever since she'd lost her right arm. "Yeah. The end of the world certainly upped the 'interesting' factor," she replied. "What were you guys up to, during the whole thing?" So far, it looked like Omar hadn't gotten hurt. But that begged the question: What else had Davie been doing with him since he'd brought him here? Obviously, they knew each other. Omar's permanent invite to this placed proved that much. But then what did that make them? Friends? Acquaintances? Past enemies? Yang wanted to know.

Omar squeezed her shoulder and held her just a little closer for a moment, a silent signal he wouldn't let her get hurt. "I was guarding the house, in case anyone actually did break through defenses. Davie was.working making strategies to better defend the people unable to leave. He always was good at that" Omar smiled ever so slightly as Davie preened at the praise. Keep Davie happy, that was the goal for the evening. "I also kept house. Cleaned, made food, that sort of thing"
"He always was such a good servant. I felt he was better off here than out there, seeing as he always chooses the most dangerous course of action. Did you know, when he goes hunting, he gets in a fight with the animal, eventually snapping the jaw or neck? Not something I would do"
They got to the sitting room, a wingback chair for Davie, and more comfortable chairs around the coffee table for everyone else. Omar led Yang yo a love seat and sat beside her on an easy chair, sitting at the edge and ready to get up at a moment's notice. "I also play music" he told Yang. "Keeps me busy and Davie enjoys certain songs, and I like playing music anyway"

Yang felt her hand curled into a fist. If Davie thought of Omar as little more than a "servant" then he certainly wasn't improving her opinion of him. She remembered her conversation with Omar after Puck had hurt him, and how he'd talked about being bound to the courts ever since a fey saved his life. Yang had gotten angry at the idea of her father figure being owned by someone, but Omar had claimed to have gotten used to it. And so far, neither of them knew exactly how to break his chains anyway. Was that who this Davie guy was? Part of the fairy court that Omar was bound to? "Sometimes, the most dangerous courses of action are also the most direct," she replied as she sat down next to Omar. "And in some situations, that's what you need." She patted her prosthetic arm, almost as if to emphasize the point. She was quiet for a moment before asking her next question. "So, what's the plan now? The apocalypse is over. Omar's got quite a few people who'd love to have him back, myself included."

Omar grimaced, this wasn't good. He put a hand on Yang's arm in quiet warning as Davie scoffed. "Going in without a clear plan can lead to terrible ramifications though, don't they?" He gave a pointed look at the prosthetic and looked directly into her eyes. "There are times and places for rushing in without a plan, and there are times when a plan could save lives. I know that quite well" Omar looked down. Davie had saved his life countless times, because Omar didn't think things through. Davie shrugged at the last question. "There are some tensions still. I might allow some trips to get groceries or say hello to everyone he knows, but I want him to stay here for now. He's better off, aren't you, Omar?"
Omar looked at him and tried to smile. "You always have, ever since the first time you saved my life" the mental torture, the random beatings, and everything else he didn't ever want to remember. They were always for his own good. Luckily at that moment the buzzer rang. Omar almost cheered from sheer relief. "Yang, do you want to help me get everything to the dining room? It will be faster with an extra set of hamds"

"Ramifications can be dealt with," Yang retorted. "Call it a benefit of my human side. We tend to be a resilient lot." Before the conversation could go into a full-scale argument though, she felt Omar's hand on her arm. She knew enough what that meant. It was his silent way of telling her to cut the crap before a fight broke out. It was a gesture she'd received from him more than once since they'd known each other. Back then, she'd been a little less inclined to listen, confident enough in her own skills to bash her way through any fight she got into. But who knew if a fight would do any good now. She didn't know Davie at all. And who knew if Omar would suffer any consequences. She could deal with the ramifications of her own actions, but she didn't want anyone else to deal with them. The next few comments though made her grit her teeth. Not only did Davie want to keep Omar here, it turned out he was the very fey that had saved Omar's life ages ago. Aka, he was part of the court that owned Omar. Hell, maybe he owned Omar himself. Who knew? However, the buzzer went off, cutting through the tension and offering a way for Omar and Yang to leave the room for a moment. "Sure," she replied, her tone tense as she stood up. If they could get far away enough from Davie, maybe Yang could ask Omar a few questions about all this. Did David own Omar personally? How strong was he? Did he knew Puck? Was an escape attempt possible right now?

"Not everyone is as resiliant as a human or a human hybrid" Davie commented. His tone was calm but his face had turned frightening. Omar stood and helped Yang to her feet. "You can get mead or whiskey, I found some bottles of each in your cellar. It would be good for dinner" he motioned for Yang to follow him. He led her back down the hall and towards the back of the house. "You have questions, that's normal. I will try to answer some of the questions. But we are pressed for time and some things I literally cannot reveal" he paused and held up a hand. "Before you ask, yes, technically he has sole claim over me. But he has this.thing. Like seduction over 9000 thing. And I was like, seventeen. I'm just saying, this is complicated. I love Aqua, loved Cindy, but Davie? Was first" he rubbed his forejead. "Yang, I am such a fool"

Yang was silent as she followed Omar to the back of the house. Although she did note the windows and doors they passed. Could she just break one and then she and Omar jump out or something? Could they make a break for the front door? Her mind whirled with escape ideas, but once they were alone, Omar addressed some of the earlier questions on her mind. Not only was Davie Omar's owner, he was a past lover as well. Was Omar cursed to have complicated romances or something? First there was Davie, who was a complete asshole in Yang's eyes. Then there was Cindy, who had been killed. And now his love for Aqua was forbidden and came with all sorts of trouble. Couldn't the universe cut him a break or something? "Davie's a bastard. I don't like him," she spat. "And I don't like the way he talks about you. You're not a servant or a pet he can just keep around for his amusement." She paused for a moment before asking "Could you actually leave, if you tried? Or is it, like, physically impossible?" Maybe if she tried to get Omar out the front door, a magical barrier would stop him. Or it would cause him pain to go through. If Davie had something like that in place, then an escape attempt wouldn't be possible right now, as loathe as Yang would like to admit it.

"He is not an easy man to live with" Omar admitted. "And 'servant' isn't quite right, either. More like..serf. It was a thing at the time, I just saw it as normal. Granted, the squire's son loved trying to humiliate me. I was just used to it. I still...am affectionate towards Davie. I don't think that will go away" despite his many attempts. He smiled at her fondly and ruffled her hair. "If I try to leave without permission, I am going to run into a very electric sort of problem. I have a feeling that he is gonna give me a babysitter when I go out. But thanks Yang. Right now, I am fine, so I think I can manage. Tell Aqua and the girls not to worry" he moved to the food on the counter. Various dishes around. Some were labeled 'fey only' and Omar glanced at her. "Highly addictive to us, but for Davie or Aqua, it would be like eating vitamins. Super healthy for them"

So, just leaving wasn't an option. Yang swallowed back any disappointment she was feeling. She hated returning to Omar's friends and family empty-handed. They were probably as worried about him as she was, maybe even more so. "You may be used to it, but I'm not. And I never will be," she declared. "What if he decides to hurt you or something? I can't just leave you here with that kind of risk." She paused for a moment before adding "I wasn't able to do anything when Puck stuck you in that church. I don't want to be useless again." Leaving Omar here felt like throwing him to the wolves. How could she face Jane and Namine if she did that? Or Aqua? He mentioned that Davie would probably let him out, with someone watching him, but that didn't make Yang feel any better. Some foods were stuck with the label "fey only" and Yang wondered if those were Omar or Davie's idea. Would Davie had cared too much if she tripped out over fey food?

His face softened and he pulled her into a hug. "You are most certainly not useless. You came to see hiw I was, and I know you are the reason Davie is letting me out again at all. Not useless. My best bet is waiting till he gets bored again and I can go home while he goes who knows where. It has happened before" more often than he could count. Davie had liked Omar more when he was rebellious and angry. But either the novelty would temporaroly end, or Omar made himself as boring as wet paint and Davie told him to leavr till he was exciting again. It was a weird relationship, really. "Yang, he won't hurt me. Threatened, but he never hurt me" wait, did emotional and mental trauma count? He'd deL with that later. Besides, Omar didn't betray his master. He never had. "We better get the dishes out. Davie might think we're plotting somethung" he laughed slightly and picked up the prime rib platter in one hand and a dish of sweet potatoes in the other, as easily as carrying sacks of feathers.
