Namine smiled placatingly. That was what she had been told since she was a child. If they were mean, that meant someone really liked you or were jealous. But she knew that wasn't always the case. Sometimes people were mean for the sake of being mean. Not people like Sunshine of course. It took Namine a long time to realize that she didn't owe the cops anything, but she did admire the good ones. Like Sunshine, Riku, Shadow and her old roommate Aqua.
"Of course." she agreed.

Sunshine bit into the berry cream-cheese pastry. Sometimes, it paid to have the simplicity of a small pastry to overcome all the fanciness. Also packed in were a rosewater braid and a baklava twist. The honey and pistachios were starting to stick to the box, so she had to act quickly. She spoke, in a super unladylike way, with her mouth full and accidentally spittled crumbs.
"When I first started out, I didn't like many of the cops,"
she swallowed.
"I still get nervous around the vampires. I know they wouldn't turn me into the ones that tried to hurt me, but...still. Some times that fear stays with you. It sucks."

"Why become a cop if you didn't like them?" Namine inquired.
It seemed like a strange thing to do, but Namine wasn't one to talk. She went into a difficult profession just because she felt she owed the police for saving her from her father. Now she realized she was strong enough to stand on her own and make her own decisions. She didn't always need protecting. She had Lance for that now. She had Gorilla and their security team. She had her friends and her new family. She wasn't alone anymore.

"Because I found the select few cops that I did like, and they taught me bit by bit that being scared wasn't going to solve my problem," she answered simply.
If Shadow hadn't recommended she become a cop, she would be working a shitty part-time job that she didn't even enjoy. The police had put her artsy skills to good use. She was saving people and even learning how to harness her sun-based powers without fear. No one was using her as a human solar panel. Her hair healed wounds from shoot outs. The cops had become her friends, and had started to give her the strength she needed.

"Shadow?" Namine guessed.
She hadn't really spoken much with the man, but she knew he was as honorable and kind as they came. She smiled. Good people were good influences. It's why Namine had managed to grow herself. Lose her fears, though she still had her own concerns. She was a stronger person because of the support her friends and new family had given her. Like with Sunshine, coming to see her without any prompting. They had been there for her before she had even asked for their help. And she could never thank them enough for it.

"He was the main one. Aqua came next, and then the Colt Brothers."
If Namine was on a game show, she would have won a million dollars. Shadow had started off gruff and gung ho about the supernatural cop life, but as he got to know her, he had relaxed and was able to find some sort of smile. The days of him drilling her on an obstacle course ran through her mind. The best day had been him pressing the timer when she got through and he said she beat his record. He was lying, but the kindness was all that mattered.

"Is he... okay?" Namine asked.
She had heard about what happened. Because really, who hadn't? But she worried for the officer. He had gone through Hell and back, quite literally to save the town. She had been so caught up in trying to follow Adrien's footsteps that she was starting to get busy and sidetracked. She honestly didn't know how Adrien did it but she was going to push for him to get more breaks... If they found him. She took a deep breath. Of course they would. Yang was the one searching.

“If by okay you mean alive, then yes,” she answered.
He was not okay by any other sense. He was broken physically and probably emotionally. When she had visited him, he told her how he had encountered Maria, and how seeing her one last time gave him the will to let go. By this was also the most stubborn cop on the Others Unit. While he had let her death go, he wouldn't let go of the promise he made. Wrecking a town was probably not the best way to keep that promise

Namine looks down at her clenched hands. She had been so wrapped up in her own misery she forgot her friends. She knew that she had been busy, but she had hardly even stopped in to check on her old coworkers aside from Aqua, who had stationed herself at the manor and brought in survivors. Namine thought she had been doing a lot of good helping people and fixing things. But now she wasn't so sure. She had a lot left to do and plenty of people to make it up to.
"Maybe... once Adrien is back... we can have a dinner here." she said. "As a thank you for everything the police did."

Sunshine smiled softly at Namine. She was a sweet child for so long, that hearing her organize an activity was refreshing. Usually, the people who came up with things to do were people like herself or Yang. So, having Namine find her voice to speak out made her happy. Dinner at a nice manor did sound like a treat, Nothing over the top fancy.
"Yeah, that...that sounds really nice."

Namine smiled. She didn't want the others to worry too much. Now that she had more capability, she could take care of the friends who looked after her so much. They needed a night off where they didn't have to worry about chasing criminals or fighting their way through the night. They all had to be so tired after everything they had been doing lately. Because the town wasn't going to go back to normal on it's own. It was going to be a long recovery process. Despite that, she felt that they were very capable.
"I'll tell the staff..."

"And I'll tell the cops. But not without a proper cue. We don't want to storm the castle so to speak,"
She chuckled. The Agastes were truly the one family that could be considered like royalty in the literal crumbling city of Bellerouge. Going up to the castle uninvited would have been a bit rude. There was also the big secret the heir was holding, and Sunshine had not once broken her word to him about it. Did Namine know about it? Hmm, best to let the cats sleep so to speak.

"I can't wait." she smiled.
It would be nice to have a house full of people who were important to her again. And after all of this, she might take advantage of Adrien's quite generous paid time off plan. She was starting to run herself ragged, but... seeing Sunshine and talking the feelings out had helped immensely. She couldn't put into words how grateful she was that Sunshine had even come over to check on her.

Sunshine gave a whisper of a smile at the artist. She hadn't seen the petite girl excited at all. Mostly, she was just quiet and kept to herself, but after getting to know Namine more, she was seeing someone she could make genuine connections with. Maybe this dinner would get them to see an important person behind the scenes and give her the respect she oh so deserved. She was about to say something more, when her phone buzzed. She picked it up, seeing it was a text message from Aqua.
"Well, duty calls," she said with a small sigh.

"I should get back to work too," she agreed.
Adrien's workers were self sufficient. Probably because their former boss had little to do in the way of social interaction. But that made it easier in a way. They knew their tasks and could get them done without supervision. Still, there were decisions that needed an Agreste at the head. Even if she was only one by 'half blood' she had sway enough in the company to make the decisions that needed to be made for Adrien and his people. She had lots of work to do and miles to go before she could rest.
