Elsa massaged her forehead. The Easter holiday had been nothing but party after party. She was heating up a tub of ice cream in the microwave with a small amount of vanilla flavored vodka sitting in a glass nearby. The spring heat was getting to her, making her pale forehead break out in sweat. The microwave dinged and she spooned our a floppy spoonful into the waiting splash of vodka. A cheap boozy milkshake was exactly what he needed. As she finished mixing, she heard the doorbell. Vodka laced ice in hand, Elsa walked over, opening it and smiling.
“Oh. Hey Weiss.”

For once, it seemed like things might actually get back to normal. Bellerouge was recovering from the apocalypse. Adrien had been returned home safe and sound, thanks to Yang. And Weiss had even gotten a text from Wally, saying he was alright. Weiss had practically flown over the moon when she saw that. The only thing in her life that wasn't recovering so far was Omar. He hadn't been the same ever since he'd gotten away from Davie, and the Bilge Rats couldn't do much without him. And Weiss was still determined to do something to try and bring him around, whether that was finding one of his long-lost kids or discovering something that might help him get away from Davie for good. But she wanted to take her time with that operation. If she was going to sneak into one of the fairy courts, she couldn't rush in without a plan. She wanted to do it methodically and try to prepare for as many variables as possible. For the moment though, Weiss felt comfortable letting Omar get fawned over by his loved ones and checking on another friend of hers: Elsa. Weiss had been worried when her close friend had first been attacked by a demon, but she seemed to act more like herself every day. Asking her about what to do about her feelings for Wally had crossed her mind more than once, but she had no idea how to bring it up without looking like an idiot. So far, Aqua was the only one who knew, and spilling the beans to her had been a little nerve-wracking. Maybe she could figure out a sly way to bring it up. That idea made her feel a little more calm and she knocked on the door and was greeted by Elsa. "Hey," she replied, smiling back. "How are you feeling?"

Elsa leaned against the door frame casually. With her A-line skirt and sleeveless blouse, she looked like a midwife from the nineteen fifties just reclining and chatting with a younger girl. Yet, the young lawyer was not married. She had a beau, sure, but Ralph had gone incognito since the apocalypse wrap-up. She herself had gotten deeper into the crime-stopping of the supernatural. She had deliberately gone to the police station to support Yang. Even more deliberate, she had gone into a case against Lil' Miss Malachite, a member of the Spider's Web, in court - and had won, even with the finger ebing pointed to getting too involved with a police case. "Well," she murmured quietly, "the sadness is starting to go away, but I still haven't exactly shaken it off. To be honest, I don't think I ever could."

So, doing better, but not entirely there yet. Weiss could relate to that. Her recovery from her parents' and shadow spirits' abuse had gone much like that. Elsa seemed to doubt she'd ever recover 100% from it, and while Weiss knew that that was just a fact when it came to overcoming traumatic events, she couldn't help but feel a little sad. Heck, seeing Elsa shortly after the demon attack, when she'd been frightened and vulnerable, had scared Weiss more than she'd cared to admit. It had hurt to see her once confident friend brought down so much. But sometimes, things just happened that changed people forever. Weiss knew that better than anyone. As long as Elsa could get to a point where she was happy with her relationships and her work, then that would be good enough for Weiss. "Hey, even a little progress is good," she said, giving another smile. "Gotta celebrate the little victories, you know?"

Elsa chuckled lightly. "Yeah, there is that. Oh, sorry, um...can I offer you anything? It's been a while since I had anyone come over." She wasn't exaggerating. Between the tabloids being mad about her being an advocate for Other's rights, she had lost favor with the apocalypse as well. Some people even avoided her mansion, calling it a "melting ice palace" from the damage it had taken during the crazy end o the world destruction. She still cringed at one crack running down the floor. In a strange way, it was like Weiss' scar. It resembled the surviving hardships, but was a reminder the hardships still happened. "And, um, how have you been?"

"No, it's fine. You don't have to go to any trouble," Weiss quickly said. Playing the overly friendly host when you felt like crap wasn't a great thing to deal with. Weiss just wanted Elsa to relax. From the looks of the alcoholic drink in her hands, it looked like she was already trying to. Although it was probably hard for her to chill out when her house still had a few marks left over from the apocalypse. "Do you need help with fixing up your place?" she asked. "Me and Riku can get a guy or something." Getting Elsa's house patched up wouldn't fix all her problems, but getting the place looking a little more put-together and cheerful might do her some good. Elsa asked how she was doing and she replied with "Okay, actually. I'm just glad that everyone I know got through the end of the world in one piece." Sure, some ended up getting hurt, like Omar. But at least he was still alive. And everyone else she knew was okay. She remembered being especially worried about Wally, afraid that he might get hurt while trying to help people. Sure, Kid Flash had similar powers and ran around the city fighting bad guys all the time. But he was a superhero. He had experience with that sort of thing. Weiss had no idea if Wally could say the same.

Elsa's eyes fell on the remaining sections of her house that needed extreme renovation. The humidity would take over the patches she had tried in vain to fix. If not taken care of, the ice would eventually turn into mold. Perhaps calling a repairman would be the best way to go around it. Her bank account was still standing strong, even with the apocalypse ruining the banks. It wouldn't be much. Hopefully. Parts of her house had been quite old. She was surprised to see segments of an old ship being used in the structure when she had come back home and helped clean up the destruction. Weiss said she felt okay that everyone she cared about made it through the apocalypse, and she smiled agreeably. "Me too." She took a tiny sip of the boozy milkshake.

Elsa seemed to share Weiss's relief in that. She knew some people hadn't been so lucky. The apocalypse had taken away more than a few loved ones from others. But it looked like everyone Elsa knew was okay too. "I'm sorry I haven't been able to see you much, since the demon attack and stuff," she said. "But I know Ralph was there for you. It sounds like he's doing some good." Heck, half the reason Weiss knew she could space out her visits a little more was 'cause she knew Ralph would be there for Elsa no matter what. She'd only met the guy once, but he seemed to care for Elsa as much as she did for him. And that made Weiss happy.

"Well, you have a family that loves and cares about you. Well, the love is more obvious now." Riku and Sunshine were the only members of the Lafayette family Elsa were even allowed to go near Weiss. The lawyer had no one, except maybe Ralph, who cared about her. Weiss brought him up, and he smiled between the slurp of her vanilla vokda delight. One was going to be just enough It'd keep her energized, but not to the point where she would do somthing that would put her in the tabloids. "He was...supportive. He went to help the police in the investigation. Most of the apolcalypse, I was staying put in Adrien's mansion. My own place wasn't going to keep me warm," she gave an involuntary shrug.

Elsa had a point. Weiss's family was small, but there was still a lot of love to go around. Riku and Sunshine could get especially affectionate with each other, but Weiss never minded. Riku had found someone that made him happy. That was more than enough for her. Mentioning Ralph made Elsa smile. If Weiss was honest, she'd admit that she often gave the same smile whenever Wally came to mind. Maybe now she could try asking Elsa for some advice. Trying to play it cool, she asked "So, how did you figure out Ralph was...the one? I mean, when did you know that you really liked him?"

Elsa rubbed the back of her neck with a small smile. Ralph hadn't been in contact with her for a while. She would always leave voicemails and assumed, since he was absent, that he was too busy with cases. Weiss was eager t ask about hi, and it was refreshing to spend time talking about love interests as opposed to brooding over rich family. "Ralph was...well, he was the first man to see the person and not the titles. He didn't see a lawyer that would get him a decent trial shoud he get arrested. He didn't see a girl with a lot of money. He didn't see some gorgeous woman he, you know..."

"He saw you for you," Weiss finished, realizing what Elsa was trying to get at. She could see why her friend would value something like that. Having a famous last name meant that people tended to notice that first. And most times, it was the only thing they noticed. Ralph saw Elsa for who she really was. In a way, Weiss felt like Wally was much the same. He hadn't even known who she was the first time they met. The last name "LaFayette" had meant nothing to him. It had been different, and it had left quite the impact on Weiss. It was probably only nature that she'd fall for him after that.

Elsa nodded with a small smile as Weiss put the two and two together. That was exactly how it was. Most of the men she had seen either wanted money or the fact she was beautiful. There was someone else before Ralph, but he had his heart sold on someone else. As painful as it had been, Elsa had let him go. Ralph was the one she had chosen to continue her life with. "Why the sudden interest in my love life?"

Elsa soon asked the million dollar question: Why was Weiss interested in this all of a sudden? Caught off guard, Weiss felt her face turn red as she awkwardly replied "Um...no reason in particular." The words came out like a toddler tripping over its own feet. Ever since she'd left her parents' house, she'd been expressing her emotions more openly. While this was good when it came to talking about her fears or frustrations, it made things awkward when it came to things like love. And Weiss wished her face would stop giving her away every time someone asked her about it.

Elsa's brow shot up in a defined arch. Weiss' performing was good on stage, but in average conversation, someone could read her like a book. "You starting to, well, develop something similar to how I felt, didn't you?" Weiss and she had been on good terms for a while. Even during Weiss' issue with the shadow demons and the custody battle, she only wanted what was best for the younger girl. It was because, in a great theory, Weiss reminded Elsa of how she was. It was a conversation with her teenage self.
