Maybe one day he wouldn't feel like leaping for joy when Yang kissed him. Today was not one of those days. He smiled into the kiss, leaning in and returning the affection, trying to show her just how much he missed her. He had been busy with work but had hoped to get a surprise together for her, a nice dinner. He was learning to cook just so he could do something for her. But this...? This was probably better in the long run. They were happy and comfortable and best of all together again. Unfortunately, the kiss had to end and he gave her a goofy grin.
"If that's what happens after I get kidnapped, remind me to disappear more often." he teased.

Yang had to laugh a little at Adrien's joke. "Not sure how well that would go," she said. "I might not have gotten written up when I went chasing after you on my own, but I don't wanna push my luck." She considered herself lucky that Sunshine was heavily involved in this case. Her friend had understood exactly what she'd been going through, and had even admitted that she'd probably take on a whole bunch of thugs by herself too if Riku had gotten kidnapped like Adrien had.

"To be fair, it's always more fun for us both when you're the one stealing me away," he confessed.
He always dropped work for her. Sometimes it exasperated Natalie but the woman would also smile and send him off, helping finish whatever it was he had been doing before Yang walked in. It's why Adrien gave her such a generous salary, bonus and vacation leave whenever she asked for it. His father's personal assistant had been a gem that was truly wasted on the former CEO. He smiled at Yang.

"Hey, you're Robin Hood, remember?" Yang teased. She could never resist comparing Adrien to the guy, even if his Chat Noir days were far behind him. But she'd never forget that that was how she'd met him. He'd helped her and her kids out in secret. He'd steal back things that had been wrongly taken away from people. And, in the end, he'd ended up stealing her heart.

Adrien smiled over the nickname. Yes, he recalled just how he had gotten it. But now he could do more as Adrien than he could as Chat now that he didn't have to mind his tongue. Though, he supposed he did miss his nightly runs through the town and sneaking into places to give what he felt was long overdue. He didn't mind as long as he could help.
"We never did agree if you were little John or Maid Marion." he laughed. "I'd like to think a bit of both."

“I think both fits too,” Yang replied. “I can kick some butt like Little John, but I love you like Maid Marian loves Robin Hood.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “I know things have been... a little tense, since I found out about your powers. But I don’t want to throw away everything we’ve built because of that, you know?” Adrien had obviously been sorry about keeping his powers a secret, and had promised to be more honest from now on. And Yang was willing to give him that chance.

"I wanted to tell you, but... I... was scared." He looked away. "I can destroy everything I touch. It's... not exactly a good power for someone who's supposed to be 'the public face' of Agreste Industries."
He had always been afraid of what other people would think of his powers. How it could be used as a weapon to hurt others or worse, kill them. His father had been one of those purists who thought those with powers were... less than human. He had struggled his entire life to keep his powers a secret from everyone. His mask as Chat Noir had been his outlet, not just for his contained life, but for his contained powers as well. But Yang had never seen him use his powers before.

Yang was quiet for a moment. She could see why Adrien had done what he'd did. Being part of the Agreste family, and having someone like Gabriel as a dad, meant that any kind of power like this had to be kept hidden. Yang still felt like it was a shame though. She felt so connected with her own powers, even though they had the potential to destroy too. They were a part of who she was and she would be devastated if she lost them. "Was it hard?" she asked. "Keeping them a secret, I mean. Was there ever a time you were...close to slipping?"

"It was really hard, especially when I was a teenager. You're angry all the time and just want... to destroy things." he admitted.
There were times he couldn't stand his father's distance. He would shout angrily and beat punching bag after punching bag until they literally turned to dust under his knuckles, not from strength but his powers letting lose. He had avoided skin contact with anyone for the longest period of time. Until he knew for certain he could control the power. He didn't want to know what his powers did to a living being.

Yang certainly knew that feeling. Being angry and just wanting to tear something apart with your hands was something she'd experienced quite a bit, especially after her parents had been killed. She'd been mad at the world, and if she was feeling especially infuriated, an underground fight was all she would need to let that steam out. "You got them from your Mom, right?" she asked. "Did she ever have trouble with them?" Yang assumed that was how Adrien had gotten his powers. His dad certainly didn't have them.

"I don't really know. She disappeared when I was really little." Adrien admitted.
And despite the many many years, his father never ever got over it. He supposed that he himself never got over it. It was hard not to. His mother was just there one day and gone the next. It was why it hurt so much to try and push Yang away because he knew what it was like to wonder what happened to someone. Back then, Yang had only known him as Chat. Unless he had gotten arrested, no one would have known that it was him. Not unless they unmasked him. Then it would have been scandal.
"I'd assume so. Namine has powers too."

Adrien wasn't really sure, and that made Yang wonder. Could it be possible his mom had hidden any powers she had? Maybe Gabriel had forced her to, just like how he'd done with Adrien. Yang felt like she had to have had something. Namine had powers too, after all, as Adrien brought up. Sure, they were different than Adrien's, but still. They shared the same mom. Yang herself was a similar case. Her mom had been a phoenix, so she had gotten some of those powers passed down to her. "I wonder how your powers and hers turned out different," she said, thinking out loud for a moment.

"There are plenty of reasons that powers manifest." Adrien said. "I did research into it when mine started to show up."
There were some who developed powers as caused by trauma, which Adrien assumed was Namine's reason for powers. It was her own protection against things that used to happen when she lived with her father. Before her father was arrested. Adrien's could have developed because of his own helplessness at his situation. An anger that built inside of him because of his father's distance and his mother's disappearance. Then there were those who had it by genetics. He believed everyone had a predisposition for a sort of power. Some just needed the push.
"They might not be genetic. It could be experiences or exposure to sort of chemicals or magical elements," he explained.

Adrien had a point. Some people had powers purely because of the old "falling into a vat of toxic waste" trope. Or they had a similar situation with something magical, and that gave them powers. It sounded like there could be a number of reasons why Adrien and Namine's powers had turned out the way they did. But, without their mom around, it was hard to know anything for sure. "Seems like a mystery," she commented. Then again, a lot of things surrounding Adrien's mom was a mystery. Maybe Adrien had come to terms with that by now. Yang wasn't sure if she ever could, if she was in his shoes. She would probably go nuts trying to track down exactly what happened if the same thing had happened to either of her parents.

"What about your powers?" he asked. "From your parents?"
He was curious about her firepowers. He knew that she was always warm to the touch despite the weather. And that it was harder for her to control when she was emotional. He supposed that was something they had in common. Anger seemed to be a trigger for them both. They had good outlets for their abilities. Adrien had money at his disposal to replace anything he destroyed and Yang was in a field where she could protect people.
