"Yeah, from my mom," Yang replied. "I'm only half-phoenix though, so I didn't get everything. Like I doubt I'm gonna rise from ashes if I kick the bucket or something." She also doubted her powers were as strong as a regular phoenix's. They could lay waste to whole cities if they were angered enough. Or so the stories said. Yang doubted she could pull off something like that, even if she was angry.

Things could have been so different if their parents had still been around, but he supposed, he also wouldn't have met Yang. And if Yang's parents had been around no one would have been around to look after the kids. The whole reason 'Chat Noir' had snuck into the theater in the first place. But, they couldn't change how things were. Yang's mother couldn't 'return' after what happened.
"Fire power and... destruction... What a pair we make."

Yang gave a wry chuckle. "Guess that means we're compatible in more ways than one," she joked. Who knew what might happen if both of them lost control at the same time though. Yang had already done that once, and she didn't want to do it again. Combined with Adrien's ability to disintegrate anything that he touched, who knew how much could be destroyed. It was probably best not to think about it too much. No sense in worrying about something that probably wouldn't happen.

"We both knew that," he said, grinning at her.
Finally the last of that tension dissipated. He couldn't help but lean against her side. She had taken the powers thing a little better now that it had been given more time. He had honestly expected another smack to the face. He remembered the night she figured out he was Chat Noir. His mask had come clean off, literally and metaphorically. But around Yang that felt right.

Yang grinned back at Adrien and her arm wrapped around him. Adrien's powers were still a secret to the world, but she at least knew now. That was something he could trust her with, just like his secret about being Chat Noir. And when she'd gone through the loss of her arm, she'd trusted him with some of the darkest and ugliest thoughts that had been running through her head. They'd both seen each other in ways that nobody else had. "Hey, when we have a family of our own, let's promise that we're not gonna make our kids feel like they have to hide their powers," she said, looking up at Adrien. "I don't care if they can blow up the world or whatever. We're not gonna make them feel like they have to hide what they are."

Adrien felt his heart skip. A family? It shouldn't have been too unexpected. He already knew that Yang would make a great mother, but the thought of one day having a family with her was a shock to him. He didn't know that he would be a good father. He didn't have the best role model of what a father should be. Most of his interactions with Yang had been when her kids had been fast asleep in the wee hours of the night. Alone.
"You... want a family?" he asked.

Yang realized that Adrien had been a little thrown-off by that and she felt herself blushing a little. Maybe that had been a little too forward. "Well...yeah, eventually. Someday," she said. "I mean, there's no rush. But I think it'd be...nice." She'd been a little worried about the idea herself in the past, and she and Adrien had always known there was no rush in getting married, having kids, etc. But she felt like she'd want to do it all someday, once she and Adrien were ready for it. Yang might have lost her parents, and Adrien had a missing mom and a neglectful father, but they could at least give their kids a better childhood than they had.

"I... never thought about kids before..." Adrien admitted.
He never really had an interaction with Yang and her children before they were adopted. He wanted her to be happy certainly, but he was afraid he'd fall into the same trap his dad did. The same 'work is important' bullshit. Or disappear like his mother did. He would want to take precautions certainly. But with Yang? The idea seemed to have a charm to it. He still felt his face heat up.
"Maybe... someday?" he agreed.

"Yeah, someday," Yang said reassuringly as she reached over to give Adrien's hand a squeeze. "We got all the time in the world." The last thing she wanted was to rush into this. "When we're ready though, I think you'll be a great dad," she said. Adrien might not think so, but Yang felt like his kind-hearted nature and gentleness would make any kid love him.

"Yeah, because I had the greatest role model," Adrien said sarcastically. "Really, Yang, I don't think... I wouldn't know how to..."
He didn't know how to do half the things fathers should know how to because his dad never showed him how. He couldn't teach them to ride a bike. He couldn't show them how to throw a ball. He didn't know what to do when taking a kid to the park. Sure, he opened his house up to people who were displaced and needed refuge during the demon attack, but he never directly interacted with any of those kids. He was doing supply runs and security and a million other things he needed to do to make sure the mansion walls stayed up.

"Oh come on, don't be so hard on yourself," Yang said encouragingly. "You have a big heart and you're always looking out for people." She rested her head against his shoulder. "It's okay if you don't know how to do everything. I don't think a lot of parents do. They just kind of learn as they go along. I'm probably gonna have to do the same thing." She gave a little laugh. "I mean, I've looked after kids before and stuff, but Penny was the youngest and she was at least seven. Anything below that would be new territory for me."

"I could do it if you were with me," he admitted.
Just having Yang with him made him feel far more confident. She knew children best. She could tell him what he was doing wrong or bring him back if he got too caught up in work. She was his anchor and the love of his life. Without her... He'd probably still be under his father's thumb, doing whatever the man asked of him. He'd have never met her or Namine. Hell, he'd probably even be married off at his father's gain.

"There we go. That's the spirit," Yang said, giving a cheeky grin. She didn't want to have kids with anyone else either. Adrien was the only partner she'd want in that endeavor. She was sure that when the time came, he'd rise to the occasion and be a great dad. Until then though, they were enjoying things just fine with the two of them.

Adrien grinned in response. He wasn't lying when he said that he felt like he could do anything with her by his side. Yang was his strength whether she realized it or not. He smiled and leaned his head against her shoulder, just enjoying being there beside her. Especially since he had been so worried she would dump him once and for all. He was almost delirious with delight.
"You're probably the only one who could talk me into... well anything," he admitted.
If she told him to jump he'd do it if it would make her happy.

"I could say the same about you," Yang said. "You actually got me to not hate the water so much." Everyone had been a little worried when Adrien had first taken her to his family's private island. With her bad experiences with water in the past, taking her to a place surrounded by the ocean had seemed almost ludicrous. But Yang had known it was a fear she'd need to get over, and Adrien felt like the perfect person to help with that. The ocean had looked so huge at the time, but being with him had made it seem lot less scary. "We should go back again some time, to that private island of yours. I liked it."
