Vampires that had kidnapped her in the past, plus a lady that wanted the power in her hair? That wasn't a good combination for Sunshine. Yang would be worried about her old enemies coming together if she was in her shoes. "Weird. You'd think they'd just keep you there if they wanted to use your power," she said. "I mean, it's not like something they can just take it and store it for later, right?"

"Yeah...that's what I keep telling myself. But, I don't know, something seems...off. I just keep telling myself it's pregnancy brain." She had been fatigued as of late, and appeared to be having strange gaps in her memory. Shoot, why wasn't she telling Yang any of this?

Yang wasn't sure what to say. Vampires weren't exactly her area of expertise. Or sun powers and how they worked. Maybe Sunshine feeling off was just the result of her pregnancy, although her friend seemed a little unsure if that was the reason. "Maybe you should keep taking it easy for a while, until we find out more," she said. "I know doing stuff behind the scenes probably feels boring and stuff, but I think you should play things safe." If Yang could get a hold of one of these vampires, maybe she could make them fess up about what was going on. It was a long shot, but it was the only solution Yang could think of. And she had experience with getting suspects to spill the beans on whatever info they were hiding.

“You know, this cyberstalking case I’ve taken on is kind of like getting back in the field. I don’t have to do too much. Just study stuff between the lines. Though don’t get me wrong, I do miss slapping cuffs on the creep.” While Yang and the rest of the crew were off investigating crimes, especially big ones that were popping up around Halloween as the two worlds started to merge, Su shine was off doing quiet investigations such as harassment and hacking. On the one hand, she missed shooting beryl bullets at monsters, yet sitting down and just seeing how crazy people could get was...rewarding.

Yang gave a little smile. At least Sunshine still felt like she was contributing something. And if Yang was honest, there could be quite a lot of police work to do behind a desk. That just wasn't her strong point. Her strengths lay in kicking ass and taking names. "If you ever run out of stuff to do, there's always paperwork to organize," she teased. "I bet that's been piling up a bit." In between the apocalypse, Shadow being in the hospital for a while, and Pitch gone missing for a bit, things got kind of chaotic and messy for a time.

Sunshine gave an exasperated groan, yet through it was a trace of a smile. That smile betrayed the small laugh that she was able to let out, and this time with a bit more levity than her last one. "Just what I need, more paperwork alongside 'hey, can you make a copy of a comp sheet'?" Leave it the interns that were too lazy to do their own part-time jobs to add more to her.

Yang laughed along with Sunshine. It looked like her friend was feeling a little bit better. Still, this whole thing that had happened with the vampires was a bit troublesome. Yang hoped she could help figure that out soon. Maybe it was better to switch back to a slightly happier topic though. "Is Riku excited about being a dad?" she asked. "Or nervous?"

"Um, a bit of both." She still remembered when she had dropped the news to him. She had been puking up a storm and came out to clean her mouth with peppermint tea, and he had come in to ask if she was okay. All Sunshine did was gesture to the positive test on the sink. He had looked at her wordlessly and set the test down before kissing her. "I half tempted to call Auntie Weiss, but I'm sure she's gotten the news, too. The real excitement is my mom." Wendy's eyes had gleamed when she had gotten the news, exclaiming 'FINALLY' at the prospect of having grandkids.

"Auntie Weiss, that'll be interesting to see," Yang said with a laugh. From what she'd heard, Weiss had gotten pretty decent with kids since she'd started doing charity work for the orphanages in the city. Omar had said more than once how excited they got whenever she came to visit. She'd probably take to being an aunt in no time.

"All I'm picturing is the voodoo doll babysitting. They already do all the housework so Riku and I don't come home and pass out before we can get any work done," she snickered. The little pincushions had been doing marvels for the new house. It also didn't help that the cottage they had gotten with family loans as a wedding present was as cute and protected as it could. Maybe that was why Jasmine was tasked to strike where she did. Without voodoo wards protecting her, she was much easier to attacl

"Better watch out, or your kid will start calling the voodoo dolls 'Mama' instead of you," Yang teased. Still, having voodoo dolls as house-keeping staff sounded interesting. Yang wondered if Adrien would want to experiment with that. Then again, he was fond of a lot of the people that worked at his house. He probably didn't want to let them go to replace them with non-living things.

Sunshine tried to snort out a laugh without being too loud. One noise would have had people looking at her funny, or asking if she was okay. It was a bit awkward to think of the pincushions being called 'Mama'. This led to all the other fears that she woudl talk to Riku about. "Hey, um, you're good with kids, so at least I have to go to babysitter besides Uncle Shadow."

"A baby will definitely be interesting," Yang commented. "I think the youngest kid I ever had stay with me on the streets was six. It's a bit different." She gave a little laugh. "Funny enough, me and Adrien were talking about that not too long ago. Kids, babies, stuff like that. He's not sure if he would be a good dad, which is completely ridiculous in my mind." Adrien was practically the sweetest guy she knew. He had a kind and gentle heart. Surely any kid would love that.

"How were the street kids compared to a baby? I mean, at least yours were able to feed themselves and didn't resort to pooping in their pants. I hope." As the youngest in her family, Sunshine didn't haqve the luxury of having a younger sibling. Instead, the doting had been on her. And her time as a cop had given her a rude awakening to how bad some kids had it. Sure, there were people like Yang helping them out at the time, but she had seen the looks in their eyes or the welts on their skins or the way they had flinched if someone came close. It hurt every time. "Maybe when this little guy gets out, I'll have to have him pay Adrien a visit. A test run kid, as it were," she teased.

"Kind of self-sufficient, in some ways," Yang replied. "With their parents being awful caregivers, they kind of had to learn to look after themselves. But that could lead to them having a hard time trusting people they didn't know." Louie was a prime example of that. She still remembered him being pretty reluctant when Anita and Roger had first taken him in. It had taken him a while to adjust to living in a house and having a functional family. At least he was doing better now. Sunshine suggested bringing the baby over once it was born to see how Adrien reacted to it and she gave a little laugh. "That would be interesting," she said.
