"Coffee, coffee, coffee. Maybe some coffee will help my brain. Something new, something fresh or maybe even exotic!"
Anna mumbled to herself as she walked along the sidewalk that lay only a short distance away from the Nevermore Kiosk. She had a frown on her forehead and wasn't really paying much attention to her surroundings. Her mind was focused almost completely on one thing and one thing alone; the La Llorona Murders. Ever since the BPD had first found the bodies, she had been working on the case unlike the Others Unit. And while she wasn't happy about them being denied access to it, she also knew her focus had to be on finding enough evidence on the bodies to set them on a trail that could lead to the person who had murdered those poor children.
That was all dandy as candy, but the problem was that she still hadn't found anything useful in her examinations. The river had done a far better job in washing away evidence than she had at finding it now. And re-examining the autopsy reports from the previous murders from long ago hadn't helped much, only confirmed that those murders hadn't yielded any strong evidence either.
She was in such a agitated mood over it all that she had finally broken down and decided to go and get the strongest coffee she could find at the Nevermore Kiosk. Perhaps a huge dose of caffeine would help calm her nerves enough to thing of something else to try that she hadn't already. Most people became extremely jittery when they had a lot of coffee, but Anna had discovered that the opposite happened for her and it helped her calm down.
"Wonder what the new coffee flavor of the month is......maybe I'll give that a try."
She was so distracted as she walked towards the entrance to the Nevermore that she didn't realize someone else was right in her path.

It was the end of Moses' shift and he was going to the kiosk to get some coffee and food before he went to the park to sit and enjoy the day and eat something. He really needed food right about now and he never felt comfortable buying directly at the cafe so here he was at the kiosk. Plus his headache still hadn't gone away and that was getting on his nerves. Suddenly someone bumped into him as he was about to reach for the door. "Hey! Watch it!" He snapped, and immediately felt bad about snapping.

Anna had been heading towards the entrance to the Nevermore when suddenly she ran into someone who had also been walking towards the door. She bounced off of their much harder figure and stumbled backwards with her arms flailing out before finally losing her balance and falling backwards onto the sidewalk.
"Omph!"
She blinked in surprise and looked up to see a young man with dark eyes, a dark completion and a dark frown on his face standing over her. He snapped down at her on the ground in what she thought was an extremely rude manner, causing her look of surprise to change to one of annoyance and her arms to cross over her chest.
"Hey yourself. You nearly sent me cartwheeling into a street full of cars and all you can do is yell at me to watch it?"

Moses sighed and ran his hand over his face. "I'm sorry. I haven't had the best day" He offered her a hand to help her up and sighed again. "I work down at the cafe and I had some very rude customers. I'm a little short with everyone right now" he hoped she understood and that she wouldn't be too angry with him. "I hope you aren't too badly hurt?"

Anna was just starting to pick herself up off the ground when the young man offered an apology, an explanation for his rudeness and a hand to help her off the sidewalk. She looked up at him for a moment, debating on whether to accept or not. However, after a moment she realized how silly it would be to refuse when the man was clearly trying to make amends and took his hand. She quickly stumbled back onto her feet and spent a moment brushing off her skirt before speaking.
"Well, all my limbs seem to be attached and my innards haven't become outards, so I think I'm fine. And, I guess I should apologize too for not being focused enough on my surroundings."
She looked down at the tips of her shoes and rocked on the balls of her feet for a moment, trying to decide what to say next.
"So......what's your favorite coffee here?"
She gestured at the Nevermore Kiosk as she continued to rock on her feet, thrown off a little by the abrupt run-in with this stranger.

Moses nodded in relief and sighed ruefully. "I really should have been paying attention, I was just so focused on myself that I forgot to focus on my surroundings ,you know?" He had been more or less worried about things he couldn't help and that had almost ended up rather badly for someone else who had been paying less attention than he had. Moses blinked at the question. What was his favorite coffee? That was a difficult answer, actually. "I ,uh...try everything on the menu because I can't decide" He laughed. "I'm currently on a strawberry banana frappachino. Next time I come I'll be on the s'mores cappachino"

"Mmmmm, those sound delicious! Yeah, I haven't really landed on a favorite myself either, although if I could turn the rocky road frappachino into a human, I would probably marry it."
She gave a giggle at this which ended in a small snort.
"I've made it my personal mission to try every flavor on offer until I've sampled them all and figured out which is truly my fav."

He chuckled; he couldn't help it, her charm and bubbly personality was infectious. "So we have the same mission then" He said with humor. "That's good to know. I'm Moses by the way" He held a hand out to the woman and smiled at her. "I think my favorite flavor on the menu so far is the butterbeer frappachino" He told her happily as he held the door open for her to enter. "I thought it was so good I almost proposed on the spot!" he joked and winked at her. "But I have high hopes for this strawberry and banana. You just can't go wrong with those two fruits in my general opinion"

"Nope, they go together like peanut butter on oreos! Impossible to mess up even if you tried!"
Anna was glad to see that the young man's sour mood was quick to disappear and wasn't about to let a moment of grumpiness ruin the chance to meet someone new. And when he offered his name and a hand, she gladly took it and gave it a flamboyant shake before following him into the Nevermore.
"I'm Anna. Oh, and on the topic of oreos and peanut butter, I heard that's gonna be their new flavor next month for the frappachino! If I'm not too careful, I might end up cheating on my dear sweet rocky road."
She gave another laugh that ended in a slightly louder snort that she tried to cut off. While she didn't care so much about the snorting around the people she knew, she still felt the smallest bit of self-consciousness about it with strangers. Ironic, considering how open she was in practically every other regard.

He laughed disbelievingly. Peanut butter and oreos went together? That sounded kind of gross to Moses, but to each their own he guessed. "Never tried that combination" He said. "But I guess it's good, then?" She shook his hand in an interesting way and he was rather glad to have his hand back when she was done. "I'm Moses" He said in a friendly way. He made a slight face at the news. "Really now?" Was all he said on the subject. He smiled at her laugh; it was cute.

Anna stepped into the Nevermore Kiosk with her face towards Moses as she walked backwards towards the counter, so familiar with the space that she wasn't even worried about walking into a wall or something.
"Yep. They even have a suggestion box now for people to put flavor ideas in. I don't know how often they pick a flavor from the suggestions or if they just make a new one themselves, but either way its great to have a chance to try out something new!"
Anna suddenly came to a stop just short of walking into the counter and quickly did a turnabout so that she was facing the cashier standing behind the booth.
"Hey there, stranger! What can I get you today?"
Anna smiled at the woman across the counter space. She knew the cashier well and had seen her multiple times when she had come into the Kiosk to get her coffee and sweets.
"Hi there, Teresa! I think I'll go with the suggestion my new friend made and get the strawberry and banana frappachino today!"
Anna motioned to where Moses stood behind her, already cemented in her opinion that they were friends. Some might have called it silly or even stupid to assume so quickly that a stranger she had just met would be her friend, but she was a creature who followed her gut instincts. She didn't know why, but she would get a very certain feeling around some people that couldn't be explained and they always ended up being good, close companions. And now she had that same unusual, gut-feeling towards Moses.

He had to hand it to her, she was pretty good at walking backwards. "Yep, I know. I just never have put an idea into the box before" He said with a small shrug. "Do you think apple pie or pecan ice cream would make good flavors?" Moses thought the idea box was a good idea and a pretty handy little tool to keep the menu fresh and interesting. He laughed at the fact that Anna came in here so often she knew the cashier's first name. How interesting and sort of funny! He felt a warm sense of happiness that 1) she had called him a friend after their rocky start, and the fact they had just met, and 2) that she was taking his suggestion and actually trying the flavor he had mentioned. It felt really nice, actually. When it was his turn he nodded towards Anna. "I'll have the same as her, thank you" He said with a smile.

Anna nodded her head happily as Moses ordered and quickly paid the cashier before he could even mood, practically flinging the money at Teresa. The cashier took the cash and handed over the change to Anna, rolling her eyes at her in a friendly, over-the-top manner.
"You're fraps will be up in just a moment."
With that done, Anna quickly scanned the space and found an unoccupied table, immediately making a beeline for it and sitting down before remembering that Moses might have not been following her. She turned and waved at him, making it clear that he was more than welcome to join her. Some people might have just chatted with each other in the line and ended it there, but Anna always believed in getting to know people on a deeper level than just random, casual interactions.

Moses blinked, taken by surprise as Anna paid for his drink as well as hers. He was happy but she really didn't have to do that for him, not at all. He was about to go sit somewhere else and wait for his fraps but he noticed Anna waving, presumably at him and after a moment he went to sit beside her and smiled hesitantly. This was really weird but in a nice way.

"So, I'm pretty sure at his point I should let you pick the topic since I've kinda been running my mouth nonstop for most of the conversations."
Anna had picked up on the somewhat hesitant look on Moses' face when she motioned for him to sit with her. Maybe she was coming at him too hard, letting her zany and quirky qualities run wild without really giving him a chance to even decide if he wanted to get to know her or not. If that was the case, she realized it was probably best to rein herself in and allow him the chance to lead the talk.
So after she spoke she sat as quietly and still as she could, trying to keep her energy on a more what society would call 'normal' level. Even then, her foot couldn't help tapping out a slight beat on the floor.
