Elsa settled into the comfortable, plush chair in her office. She had told Ella to take the day off, as she would get everything else she needed on her own terms. The pale blonde lawyer clicked a pen and began scribbling notes. The platinum ink glistened as she scribbled her name up top, along with the names of several clients she needed to talk to. Ideally, she would have written it alphabetically, but one name just popped itself down;
LAFAYETTE.
It had just appeared on the page. Was it because she had been thinking about the family's well-being regarding the ball? Was it because the Crispins and Lafayettes were close friends? She couldn't put her finger on it. But her thoughts were interrupted by the melodious chimes of the doorbell. They were three tiny dings, much like a spoon on glass. But the sound Elsa knew was her antique bell being rung. She set the pen down and hiked down the stairs, where she saw the brass bell finishing its wave. Her blue kitten heels clicked against the crystal-marble floor, and she opened the silver latch of the door.
She recognized the girl on her porch right away.
"Weiss Lafayette..."

It was almost ironic that Weiss had showed up on Elsa's front porch. Ever since the ball, she had been throwing herself into her voodoo lessons and any other research she could get her hands on regarding demons. If Thrax ever showed up again, she wanted to be prepared. Granted, there was a very slim chance that she personally would run into him again. She wasn't a main target. But feeling prepared would make her feel better. Or, at least it would, if she could even find anything regarding him. Despite being a powerful demon, she couldn't find anything about him, which was very frustrating. And feelings of frustration always led the way to the anger and fear she always felt when thinking about Thrax. She didn't dare mention anything to her parents though. They were so busy trying to rebuild the mansion and keep their reputation in tact that they didn't have much time for her right now. Sure, they had shown concern after the first few days, but the LaFayettes never liked admitting they were scared of something, not even to themselves. So, they did what they did best: try to carry on and pretend as if nothing had happened. But Weiss was tired of that. She needed to talk to someone. And since Riku wasn't available, she had gone to the next best thing: Elsa. Of course, the irony wasn't lost on her. She remembered telling Riku just a few weeks ago that she didn't need anyone, that she was just fine on her own. It looked like those words were coming back to bite her.

The ice based lawyer just gaped at the white haired heiress. Of all the people and times to show up, it had to be after the ball. There was something in the girl's blue eyes that made Elsa curious. Rather than being full of elegance, Weiss looked...determined. Determined with just a small hint of begging. But why come here when her parents had all the voodoo trainings and spells literally in their blood? The family that was never afraid to back down from a fight, that literally threw out an army when a demon dared to threaten their guests for a good time? But a thought occured to Elsa. Maybe Weiss wanted to see her without her parents, to voice her own opinions on the matter. t was something she had to give the girl credit for. "What can I help you with/" she asked after a moment of silence.

Elsa seemed pretty surprised to see Weiss, which was understandable. She had never really come to her like this before. It felt really awkward, but Weiss felt like she didn't have much of a choice. "Hey," she said, giving a little wave. "Can we chat, for a little while?" It almost felt nice, being at a house that wasn't filled with construction workers. True, only two rooms in the entire LaFayette mansion had gotten messed up, but it was still quite a bit of work. Anytime Weiss walked by them, she was reminded of what had happened. It felt good to get away from it all.

The little wave made Elsa realize that she hadn't come here on her parents terms. No, she had come here on her own. If she had been with her parents, she woul have been stone cold and silent, just nodding in agreement. After peeking behind her glass fence to see the car wasn't there, she nodded. "Make yourself at home," she gestured to the parlor, which, much like everything else in the house, had some form of winter-snow motif to it. "Can I...get you anything? I gave my maid the day off, so it's...just us girls," her nervous giggle rung in the air for about ten seconds.

Weiss was soon led into the parlor, which was a comfy little place. Despite Elsa's reputation for being cold, and the tendency to choose decorations that involved snow, Weiss found her home to be a warm place. "If you have any coffee, that'd be great," she said. Weiss tended to drink tons of the stuff. Caffeine helped her focus.

"Cream and sugar?" Elsa asked before waltzing into the kitchen. She stood on tiptoe to reach her favorite selection of mugs. They depicted delicate red roses dusted with frost, their beauty preserved. The pot was already filled with Nevermore's vanilla essenced coffee, so she poured each one and reheated it in the microwave. It beeped as she gathered cream and sugar, meaning she had to walk with the serving spoons to deliver to Weiss.

"Sure. Thanks." Weiss leaned back in her chair, although her fingers drummed against her knees. She glanced back at Elsa, who was in the middle of getting all the coffee stuff together. "You need any help with that?" she asked, standing up. She felt too jittery to just sit down for the moment.

"Oh. No, I have it," Elsa answered. "You're the guest. Besides, last I checked," she winked at the heiress mischievously, "you're the one who came to me for help." Her glossed lips curved into a smile, and once again, she was giggling. It felt strange laughing after such trauma and intense events, but something about doing something to defend people besides the police department made her feel...whole again.

Weiss gave a little laugh, if only to try and feel lighthearted for a moment. "Yeah, I guess I did," she replied as she sat back down. It still felt weird, doing this. But, she didn't exactly know who else to turn to. After Riku had left, she had realized just how small her pool was of people she really trusted.

"Anyways," Elsa stirred her coffee, watching the cream get sucked into the small whirlpool of black liquid where it turned into a warmer shade of brown. Normally, she would have preferred iced coffee, but her guest's preferences were what she was going with. "What brings you here? And please don't be afraid to leave anything out."

Weiss sipped her coffee as Elsa asked what she was doing here. She figured she might as well get to the point. "Thrax, mostly," she replied. She tried not to sound like just mentioning the guy gave her the willies. "I've been...poking around some texts about demons, trying to find out anything about him, and I've got...nothing. You'd think a demon that powerful would be mentioned somewhere."

Elsa's face became a mask of concern. Thrax. Ever since the ball, that was all the media was talking about. Even today's newspaper contained an article about the handling of the situation. The picture detailed a few cops comforting a blanketed family. She had circled one line in pen;
"The Others Unit was present at the ball. Detective Shadow Griffiths, a veteran since the Black Wars, says 'People say we aren't doing our jobs. Unfortunately, when we're out of our league, it's difficult.'"
"You and every one else is curious about him," she explained. "And it looks like Thrax doesn't want to be found."

Weiss sighed. So the cops hadn't found anything either. The media said as much, even going so far as to say they were incompetent in their job. Any other time, Weiss might have felt satisfied about that, seeing the occupation Riku loved being tarnished. But it was a different, now that she had been affected by this. "My parents are already hiring extra security around the house. I think the whole thing's got them paranoid." Sure, Weiss was a bit scared too, but she was more angry than afraid. If Thrax wanted to come back, then so be it. She would be ready for him. Voodoo dealt with dark aspects of magic all the time, like dark spirits and the dead. Surely, there could be a spell or potion that could affect a demon somewhere.

Elsa sipped her cup with a thoughtful expression. Usually, the Lafayettes were one of the few families the detectives in the BPD said laughed at them. Now that the shoe was one the other foot, it appeared fear and paranoia was rising in their ranks. "And your family is certain that just...a few voodoo spells that may or may not be out of date, and security that is well trained in those same spells, will protect them?" She set her cup down.
"Weiss, there is only one thing that can weaken a demon. That is a beryl. Your family has enough to afford them, I'm sure."
