"U-Um, okay?"
It was a common question whenever anyone found out she did art. She didn't know why it still surprised her. Perhaps it was because they actually showed an interest in her and her interests? She wasn't used to that sort of positive attention. She passed the sketch pad over, hoping that she had done well enough on the drawing that Adeline would approve or if it was bad, she wouldn't get mocked for it. She shifted a little in her seat. A tentative and hopeful smile on her face.

Adeline looked at the picture Namine had been drawing. It looked pretty good, in her opinion. Granted, she wasn't an art expert, but still. She could see why the police had hired her. She had a way of capturing people exactly as they appeared. No doubt she came in handy when people were describing suspects. "Wow, you're good," she said, giving a little smile. "Really."

"T-Thank you," Namine said.
Her smile had become a little more confident. She didn't quite feel like running and hiding at least, which was a start. She had just been so jumpy. But talking with Adeline was helping. The other woman was just as quiet as she was and not likely to make a fuss. Adeline was quieter, like her, but far more confident in herself.
"D-Do... you come to Nevermore a lot?" she asked.

Adeline was pleased to see Namine smiling and becoming a little more open. Maybe she hadn't lost her socializing skills as much as she had thought. She knew she had been pretty awkward when first getting back into leaving the house more often. Heck, her parents had practically forced her to go to that ball so she wouldn't spend all night in her room like she normally did. But she could feel herself getting back into the swing of things. "Not as much as I used to," she replied when Namine asked if she came to the coffee house often. "I kind of...well, I guess you could say I became a recluse for a bit. Most of my days were spent in my room, buried in books or something like that. But I've been trying to get out more often lately."

Namine listened quietly. She knew a thing or two about becoming a recluse. She had moved so that he had a roommate in order to socialize more. She had withdrawn after what happened with her father. She supposed she was still learning how to. But she knew everyone had their reasons for doing it, so she also knew not to push for an answer as to why. She wouldn't like that.
"I-It's nice here," Namine said. "Quiet..."

Adeline nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it is." It seemed a lot of people like the coffee house for that reason. Sure, it could get a little rowdy when holiday specials were going on. But other than that, it was a quiet little place where one could go to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

She smiled. This quiet sort of acceptance from Adeline was reassuring. She didn't feel like a bother or a nuisance to the other woman, which was always something Namine worried about, even with those she could possibly consider friends.
"M-Maybe we could-"
She trailed off. Adeline probably didn't want to see her again. That was a bad idea to suggest it.

Adeline was glad to see that Namine was slowly warming up to her. Maybe they could find ways to relax together. It'd be kind of fun to do it with a friend. She hadn't read too much on it, but according to her book, there were some types of tea that could help too. Heck, even just lighting a lavender-scented candle could calm somebody down a bit. Adeline glanced up though when Namine spoke. "Sorry, what was that?" she asked. She had gotten so lost in her thoughts, she hadn't heard what she had said.

Namine took a sharp breath. Bold, she told herself, she had a second chance to ask. She could all but hear her heart pounding in her ears. This was quite a bit more socializing than she had done since before the ball incident. Aqua would say it was a step in the right direction. She just hoped her momentary courage could last long enough for her to actually act on it.
"M-Maybe we could h-hang out sometime?"
It was rushed but she had managed to push the words out.

The words came out awfully fast, and nervously. But Adeline understand what Namine was asking, and smiled. "Sure, that sounds like fun," she replied. No doubt this was a big step for Namine, asking to hang out with someone. Heck, this was a big step for Adeline, who had decided to talk to someone just for the heck of it. And it had turned out great.

"R-Really?" she couldn't help but ask.
Namine was taken for surprise when Adeline agreed. She thought for sure she was going to get flat out dismissed. Adeline surely had better things to do than hang out with some hapless little nobody like her, right? But she had said yes. It was a bit mind boggling for her and she just couldn't wrap her mind around it. A bright smile spread across her face before she could stop it.

Namine actually seemed surprised that Adeline agreed to hang out with her. "Did you really expect me to say no?" she said, laughing a little in an attempt to lighten the mood. "It's not like you've been horribly mean or anything. You're pretty nice."

"W-Well, yes," Namine admitted honestly.
She had expected Adeline to say no. No one aside from Omar seemed to do anything but tolerate her. While Namine might not have been mean, she was probably boring. At least she thought she was boring. She poked at her scone, keeping her gaze down. Adeline had been nice too, at least not making fun of her stammer or the fact she was a bundle of nerves on her best of days. She took a deep breath and spared a glance up followed by a tentative smile.
"I-I'm not... good at this," she continued. "S-Socializing."

So that was what Namine was all worried about. Her shyness and quiet nature tended to make her bad at socializing, which made her even more shy, and then it became a never-ending cycle. "You and me both," she said. "At least, I used to be. It's taken me a while to not just bury my nose in a book when a social opportunity roles around."

"Y-You don't think I'm weird?" Namine asked.
Another shy soul, just like her. The little blonde just found it so hard to believe. Adeline jut seemed so confident when she sat down, like she knew what she was doing. Namine was a little relieved to hear it. If Adeline was shy but could still find it in herself to be bold, then perhaps there was hope for Namine yet. It was encouraging to say the least.
