Adeline shook her head. "I've seen weirder things, believe me." Heck, Adeline was pretty weird herself. She didn't know any other witches around here that had parts of demons stuck in them. Of course, that was mainly because most witches weren't as reckless as her.

Namine shifted a little uncertainly. She supposed she was a little weird. However, the city was full of people that could throw fire, run at fast speeds, and other unusual things. She nodded, feeling a little more at ease, she supposed. The city was weird so that was good, she supposed.
"I-I believe you," she said.

"I guess you've seen some pretty weird stuff too, being a police sketch artist and all," Adeline said. "I mean, some people must give you pretty wacky descriptions sometimes, right?" With all the different supernatural creatures running around here, one person could look vastly different from the next. Sure, some might look like regular humans, but others might have blue skin or three eyes or mechanical limbs. You never knew what you were going to get.

"Well, yes," Namine agreed.
She had done some unusual drawings of late, particularly of demons. Just drawing the demons scared her. She knew she never wanted to encounter one on her own. However, Namine was always easily intimidated. She nearly swallowed her own tongue when Adeline asked to sit with her and the other woman had been nothing but kind.
"B-But they're... bad people."

"True." Most of Namine's job did involve drawing bad guys. But it looked like she drew regular people on the side, so that had to be a plus. "Is it ever hard?" she asked. No doubt the job was challenging sometimes, trying to accurately portray what the person was telling you. Not to mention, some of the descriptions Namine got had to be pretty creepy.

"It c-can be." she said.
It didn't take her long to finish a sketch. She went to school to learn how to be accurate and fast. But sometimes, listening to the people describing their attacker was. Sometimes it hurt her as if cutting her to the core. There were times she really hated her job because there were so many sad people and sometimes the police just couldn't help them. She could use her powers to make them forget, perhaps if she wasn't so afraid of her own gifts.
"What a-about your m-magic?"

Adeline gave a shrug. "It has its hard parts, I guess. I used to want to know every spell that was out there, to try and master as many of them as possible. But...some things happened, and now I'm getting into this stuff instead." She held up the book she had shown Namine earlier.

"S-Something happened?"
Now that was a loaded question if there ever was one. Something could quite literally mean anything. Something happened to her. It happened to someone else. It could be good or it could be bad. Adeline seemed nonchalant about it, dismissive of this past occurrence, but now she was researching heavily? The first thing that came to Namine's mind was that Adeline accidentally cursed someone and was trying to fix it.

"Yeah." Adeline wasn't sure how much detail she should go into. Thrax was still a touchy subject for her, and she didn't want to freak out Namine. The woman was already nervous enough. Maybe something vague would suffice. "I got tangled up in some...demon stuff. It's kind of a long story, but basically, I'm not just a witch. I've got part of a demon in me, and staying in control of my emotions is going to help me not be dangerous to people." She glanced up, realizing how serious she was sounding, and possibly scary. She gave a laugh, but there wasn't much humor in the sound. "Guess I'm kind of a freak, huh?"

Namine gasped. She had of course heard of cases like this. Witches making deals with demons, being possessed if their powers were not in pure balance. She had redrawn the victims of such attacks because they had been barely recognizable. She had seen memories of people who had been hurt. All she could think about was how much Adeline had to have been hurting, how much suffering that demon must have caused her. It made Namine's very soul ache in sorrow. Adeline thought herself some sort of monster but it wasn't her fault. Just like it wasn't Shadow's fault he couldn't remember or Aqua's fault she had a hard time giving her trust to others.
"No," she whispered. "Y-You're not."

Namine's response was quiet, but it was genuine. She sounded sorry for Adeline, but it wasn't just shallow pity. Adeline knew she had gone through something awful. Heck, she was still going through it. And it was okay for someone to express sympathy over that. She just wondered if it was wise, telling this to somebody she had just met. It felt okay, though. She hadn't gone into too much detail. After all, Namine would probably wonder why she was into all this relaxation stuff anyway. She had to give some kind of explanation. "Thanks," she said. "Really."

Namine smiled, however before she could ay anything the alarm on her phone went off. She picked up her phone. It was work. They only ever called when there was an assignment for her to work on that had a deadline, especially on her days off. She hesitated before looking up at Adeline. They had been having a decent time, minus Namine's little social fumbles here and there. And talking about difficult topics, because no one liked talking about those.
"I-I have to go but... I..." She took a deep breath, telling herself to be a little bolder. Adeline already said she would like to see her again. "H-Here's my c-card."
She passed over her business card - one more tailored to the arts than to police work. It had her contact information on there. Her cell and her email.

Namine's phone went off at that point, and she had to leave for work. It sounded pretty urgent. It looked like their little chat was going to have to be cut short. But Adeline didn't mind. The two of them had gotten off to a good start. She glanced at Namine's card when she handed it to her. She gave a little smile. "Thanks," she said again. "I'll see you around, 'kay?"

"I-I'd like that," Namine said.
She slowly packed up her things, including her half eaten scone and now cold tea. Oh well, she would finish those on her way back to the office. She was not letting a good sweet go uneaten after all. She wished she had she longer but work called. The officers would get mad if she kept them waiting long. She wanted to avoid that if at all possible.
"N-Next time," she said before heading out the door.

"See ya." Adeline gave a wave as Namine headed out the door. Hopefully, whatever was going on at work wouldn't get her too rattled. But, now that Adeline had the table to herself, she could do what she originally set out to do: get some reading done. Of course, the big difference between now and before was that she was in a much happier mood. Making a new friend could do that to a girl.
