"Unless he's a virgin." Axel shrugged. "Then a pretty girl hitting on him might actually do the trick."
He had no idea of knowing how 'experienced' the guy was. Adeline certainly had a type though, just by explaining it, tall, dark and brooding. There was 'Older' but that was hard to pinpoint how much older until she said who the guy was. She was too embarrassed to do that. He just had to amuse himself with whatever she felt like telling him for the moment. Then there was 'scary' so perhaps a bad boy type? Someone intimidating and certainly not someone you would want bring home to the parents to introduce as a lover. Axel bit back a laugh. Poor kid was in over her head.
"But what do I know?" he sighed.

Adeline snorted. Pitch, a virgin? She hadn't even thought about that, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to. Sex wasn't exactly a thing she had been interested in. She had been focused more on her studies than boys when she was at school. Then, after Thrax had been summoned, she had shut herself away from the world. Not to mention, any boys her age pretty much considered her a freak, so it wasn't like she had a string of admirers. "Well, you seem to know enough to give out some advice," she said. "I'll think about what you said, really." She could do that much, at least.

"Kid, people come in here all the time to complain about their love life. I'd be a shitty bartender if I didn't actually listen." he said. "You aren't the first and you won't be the last."
It was something about alcohol and a bartender that made people confess to things. He's heard it all. From petty crimes to silly wishes. Then there were the claims to ardent love to the people he probably had to discourage because their 'love' was borderline obsessive and creepy. He didn't want to get the police involved, but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Adeline was just a kid who had a crush. He might have actually felt honored she came to talk to him about it. She had been so jumpy and afraid when they first met. Luckily she had calmed down enough to not jump at her own shadow.
"Aside from your crush, everything's okay? No more demon problems?"
Granted, he was a demon but he didn't believe he was actually causing her any trouble, unless she lied that her parents hadn't been upset about her wearing his coat. But that was another thing coming.

Adeline gave a laugh. "True." Bartenders did seem to be the type of people that listened to all sorts of problems. No doubt Axel had heard troubles like Adeline's many times before. In answer to his question about demon problems, she shook her head. "Not right now. Thrax is still kind of on the low-down, and I haven't heard anything about Vanitas in a while." The fact that it had been so long since Thrax had made an appearance was a little worrying to her. She knew he was still out there, and he wouldn't just give up on her without a second thought. He wanted her bad, and he was determined to get her.

"There was a demon named Vanitas who got arrested. Big bust apparently. Guy went over the edge and had hostages. The whole nine yards." Axel said. "We talking about the same guy here?"
That might be good news for Adeline. A few human cops came into his bar the other night, bragging as if they were the ones to bag the big bad demon. Axel had the ability to see through drunken bullshit when he saw it and was able to piece together the rest from the media. The Others Unit went in and the demon gave himself up. Simple as that. No hostages hurt. No gunfire. No nothing. Rather anticlimactic in Axel's opinion but he preferred it that way. Made keeping his temper a little easier when things were a bit dull.

"Well, yeah, but..." Adeline hesitated before speaking again. "Do you really think they'll stick him in a cell this time? I looked him up after we met, and he's gotten off the hook plenty of times before. I mean, it'd be great if things turned out different, but...I guess I'd rather see what happens before I get my hopes up." Knowing that Vanitas was arrested was good news, in a way. At least he'd be off the streets for a bit, and everyone could see what an asshole he was. Adeline just wondered if somebody like him could be put away. It seemed like no matter what, her demons always came back to her, the literal ones and the metaphorical ones. And Vanitas was definitely one of them.

"There were warrants for his arrest before the hostages were taken. So I think they're about to throw away the key on this one." Axel said. "Just know, that if he doesn't, you can always hideout here."
Axel was fairly certain that if the cops wanted you before they arrested you, that things didn't look too good for you. Which is why he was glad he never met a cop who already knew his name. That would be a big tip off. Plus, Axel had been keeping his nose clean. He did his time in a juvenile detention center in his youth but he corrected his path. It certainly looked like this Vanitas guy was caught.

Axel seemed pretty sure about Vanitas being convicted this time, and it actually made Adeline feel a little better. Hearing him sound confident about things made her feel a little more hopeful. Maybe things could turn out good for once. It'd be nice to have some good luck for a change. And Axel even offered the bar as a hideout. Adeline's parents probably wouldn't approve, but if she ever needed to come here, she figured she'd probably have to break the ice about her friendship with Axel. She knew she'd have to do it eventually, she just wanted to wait for a good moment. "Thanks. That makes me feel better," she said, giving a little smile.

"Anytime kid." Axel chuckled.
Of all the things he would consider his bar, family friendly was not one of them. Yet, there he was, letting some minor hideaway from the big bad demons that haunted her every step. He might have laughed and said he was going soft, if he wasn't so sure that he could still 'fly off the handle' at a moment's notice. Either way, this was fairly amusing for him. Granted, every person who talked to him were amusing, all with different problems and different reasons for drinking.
"Can't exactly help with your homework or anything but I can always listen." he joked.

Adeline laughed a little. "My homework load is probably different from everybody else," she said. "Typical kids have, like, a handful of teachers and probably have homework from each. I just get a tutor who mostly focuses on magic stuff, and takes it easy if I'm having a hard day." Adeline's education had been a bit slow since she had dropped out of school. Thrax was kind of a bigger deal than academics, so not a whole lot of pressure was put on her for them. Her parents wanted to make sure that she was happy, not stressed out about schoolwork. Getting a tutor was just to make sure she didn't fall too behind, and to give her a little something to focus on. Really though, her tutor let her set the paces for lessons. It all depended on her mental health and how she was feeling that day.

"Maybe not your normal schedule, but I'm still not exactly equipped to teach magic. I just sort of set things on fire. Nothing fancy. Never did learn magic." Axel said.
Unless magic included tricks that street magicians used. Like cards up the sleeve, lock picks, pick pocketing and well other unsavory things that he was pretty sure that Adeline didn't need to know. That was the past. He still kept up on those sorts of 'tricks' but only because in this city, you were better safe than sorry. Might be a bit late for Axel to learn. But he wasn't too hear broken over it. His fire was good enough.

"I bet you're fun at campfires," Adeline joked. "You can get one going in seconds and toast everyone's marshmallows while you're at it." Adeline knew some basic fire spells, but that was about it. She wasn't about to jump into a ring and fight with it, but she could set something on fire if she wanted to. It made heating her tea up convenient if she didn't want to leave her room and go downstairs to where the microwave was.

"Don't even need the campfire part." Axel grinned. "Hot enough without one. Never have to worry about under cooked food though."
It was always a plus side of his powers. Things weren't always great. He had to mind his temper less he set something or someone on fire. But there were positives. Like never really needing a coat or not getting cold. He could also grill out whenever he wanted despite the time of the year. And he naturally dried off because of his 'higher' body temperature.

"Literally or figuratively?" Adeline teased. Knowing Axel, he probably was literally hot. Even his bright red hair seemed to radiate heat. Adeline wondered if he was just born with it or his fire powers just dyed his hair red. Some powers did that. If you could control snow, your hair was white. If you could control the ocean, your hair ended up blue. It wasn't always the case, but it did happen sometimes. Just one of the many funny side effects of magic.

"Both." Axel replied with a grin.
He had a higher body temperature than humans. Doctors didn't know what to make of him. Since normal medicine didn't quite work on him. His metabolism literally burned things off. That and since he burned hotter he ate more than humans did. But he could set just about anything ablaze with just a click of his fingers and a meaningful amount of concentration.
