"Better to bother them than just bottle everything up," Adeline replied. "Things can get a little...explosive, if you take that route." That was how it felt to her, anyway. If Adeline hid what she was feeling, it just continued to build and build until she blew up, literally and figuratively. At best, it was her magic that reacted, and things either broke or went flying through the air. At worst, her demon side could emerge and things could get really hairy after that.

Namine doubted that she would ever get 'explosive'. She was just not the type to lash out like that. Maybe weepy and tears but certainly not something angry or remotely intimidating. She certainly wouldn't have the stomach to go after Vanitas. All the guy had done was hit her and she was quaking in her shoes. She felt she had already been such an inconvenience to Omar and Jane already. Aqua had already told her that if Namine didn't go to her for any form of help, the faery would be keeping a careful eye on her.
"Okay." she said softly. "I'll try."
Best to agree than to argue. Not that Namine could actually argue for anything against someone.

"There we go. That's the way to do it." Adeline smiled. "Don't get me wrong though, I know what it's like to just...want to stay inside and hide away from everything." Adeline tended to resort to that whenever she was upset or sad. Hiding in her room seemed like the safest option whenever she felt that way. In there, everything was familiar and she could be safe. But she knew she couldn't stay that way for long. Shutting herself off from everyone just made her feel worse, and it made the people around her worry.

"W-What made you decide not to?" Namine asked.
The little blonde had family to depend on, and friends. At times, it almost didn't feel like it was enough. She was back at work now, but jumpier than ever. Aqua had Namine's desk moved beside hers, so she could be there in case Namine had a panic attack (which luckily had no happened). The little blonde would probably quit work if she did have a panic attack in front of the entire Others unit. It would be so embarrassing.

"Well...I guess I figured that if I stayed inside all the time, I would miss out on what was going on out here," Adeline replied. "Although it helps if you've got some friends to give you a pep talk every once in a while." That was practically what Pitch had done, after Adeline's encounter with Vanitas. She had been feeling so low, and he had talked with her, assured her that she wasn't like Vanitas, or Thrax. That had been enough to get her out of the house again. "I guess I just felt like...I was tired of being a spectator and wanted to get back into things. Even if it was just something like coming to the coffeehouse here or going to the library. That was enough to make me feel a little better."

Namine frowned. She had been a spectator in her own life for quite some time, even before Vanitas had been involved. She didn't know any other way of living. But she also knew it wasn't a healthy way of living. So she warred with that back and forth. She supposed she should have expected an answer like that, but it wasn't what she wanted to hear. Truth hurts. She knew she was missing out on things in the outside world, but her fears consumed any and all rational thought.
"I'm t-trying."
But trying wasn't good enough. Not when she was literally letting life pass her by entirely. She was too afraid to be alone. Too afraid to go out and try something new. Too afraid to be a bit more assertive.

"Well, you know what they say: 'Fake it 'til you make it.' Even if you have to fake it for a long time." Adeline hoped that made Namine feel a little more optimistic, because she didn't seem too enthusiastic about the idea of getting into the thick of things instead of just watching. "And it's not like you have to dive in right away. I mean, nobody expects you to be Mrs. Perky in a heartbeat." She paused for a moment before adding "Although you did come here by yourself. That was a bit step." Heck, Adeline wasn't about to get totally into the thick of things either. Like, she wasn't ready to do something like jump into a mosh pit at a concert or go to a big party. That would just make her feel nervous and out of place. It was best to take tiny steps, make progress a little bit at a time.

Namine nodded. It was good to know there wouldn't be that much pressure on her to jump in like that. This also made her a little more hopeful that she had one more person on her side. That pressure being taken off of her shoulders did make her ease a little into her chair a little more, feeling far more comfortable. She could breathe a little easier, knowing that it was okay to be afraid. She just had to find a way to not let it control her.
"I just... d-don't want everyone to feel like they h-have to take care of me all the time," she said.

Adeline knew that feeling. And it was a difficult one to deal with. It was half the reason why she didn't bug her parents with her problems all the time. She didn't want to take up their time and make them think they had to be around her 24/7. Her greatest fear was having somebody just quit on her because she had so many problems to deal with. She hoped Pitch was ready for that. Dealing with her was going to be a handful, although he seemed to think the same about himself too. "Yeah, I know how that feels," she said. "Telling them everything is tough 'cause they already have their own problems to deal with. It just feels like you're making their load heavier." She wasn't sure what the best solution for that was, but she could at least understand how Namine was feeling. And she knew she still had to be open and honest with the people around her. Otherwise, she would get no where.

"S-So what do you do?" she asked.
That was exactly how she felt. Jane had been kidnapped too. She didn't know how the other woman was coping because she was so worried about herself. Jane seemed fine. She was cheery and peppy as usual. Said that if she ever came across Vanitas again, she would gut him like a fish, something that was both awe-striking and a little gross at the same time. Then Aqua had just found Terra's body. Still the faery continued to smile. The woman went to work, came home, cooked dinner and only when she thought Namine was asleep did she break down with her frustration, exhaustion and sadness.

"Well, if they're real friends, they'll listen to what you have to say," Adeline said. "And they'll be honest about how much they can handle. Sometimes, they may not have any solutions to your problems. But just listening can be good." That was often how her parents ended up. They didn't know what the best option was for Adeline's demon problems, or her feelings of sadness and loneliness. But, they were always there to listen, and they always told her that they loved her. Pitch was just a tougher guy. He could deal with more of Adeline's baggage than her parents could. And even more important, he could understand it. It was part of the reason why she had bonded with him so quickly. A lot of the stuff she had experienced, he had gone through it too. He knew what that was like. She knew she could always talk to him about anything she was going through and he would listen.

"It does... m-make it easier to talk about," Namine admitted.
Jane understood a little bit. Probably not why Namine had reacted the way she did but the fear of what could have happened to them both if the police and Omar hadn't stepped in. Omar understood more perhaps. Or he acted like he did. And Aqua was just the ultimate epitome of patience. She knew Namine's situation and was doing everything she could to make the blonde feel more comfortable. Namine would never be able to thank Aqua enough for everything she did.
"A-Aqua says d-demons don't like emerald..." she said.
It probably wouldn't do much, but it would make her feels safer.

"Yeah, that's true," Adeline replied. "They don't like aquamarines much either. Apparently, that's what Weiss LaFayette was wearing when she...fought Thrax." Her eyes cast downward before adding "It probably saved her life." According to reports, Weiss had nearly been defeated, but had managed to pull through long enough to hold Thrax back and keep him away from Yang until the cops arrived. Adeline didn't know how she did it. Out of all people, Weiss seemed like the least likely to be able to take on a demon like Thrax. She was the epitome of a perfect little rich girl. Adeline didn't hate her or anything, but still. You had to admit: she had a luxurious life that everyone envied. Girls like that didn't seem to be into things like fighting, yet Weiss had pulled it off. Of course, she had still gotten a pretty big scar, but at least she was alive.

"Do... y-you use them?" Namine asked.
She hadn't heard of the effects of emerald or aquamarine on demons. She just wanted to make sure that demons wouldn't come near her. She didn't necessarily want to hurt anyone. But if it scared them off... It left Namine feeling rather torn about it. She just wanted all demon influences out of her life. At least the bad demons. But who was she to decide good or bad demons? She wanted Vanitas gone. She wanted Thrax gone. But she felt bad for wishing that.

Adeline shook her head. "Tried them once. They make my skin feel...itchy, like a sunburn. You know, being part demon and all." In a way, Adeline was in a quandary when trying to ward off demons. There were a lot of spells or charms that could do it easily. The only problem was, they'd end up hurting her as well, thanks to her demon side. It was complicated. She could only wear gems like that for a short amount of time, if she ever got her hands on them. Although, at least it was better than most demons. Somebody like Thrax would get burned just by touching them.
