Namine's eyes widened. She hadn't realized that Adeline was part demon. She bit her lip. If she got emerald or aquamarine, would it hurt Adeline on accident? She didn't want to do that. But she wanted to be safe. She shifted a little in her seat. It seemed she was at an impasse. Unable to go forward and unable to go back. The thought of being able to ward off demons had been great, but hurting them?
"I don't w-want to hurt you on a-accident if I get some," she said.

"Hey, relax, it only hurts if I touch it," Adeline said, not wanting to make Namine feel more nervous than she already was. "I'm not about to, like, get a migraine if you wear one or something." Even if she did, the priority was keeping Namine safe. Adeline could at least fight and defend herself. Namine wasn't so lucky. Honestly, if she ran into anybody like Vanitas again, her best bet was to run away as fast as she could.

"You're sure?" Namine asked.
That was a bit of a relief. As long as she didn't end up accidentally hurt anyone. It seemed she had something to go buy later. But that was later. Now, she would just have to 'live life' as Adeline put it and just enjoy being at the cafe. It had been a while. Namine had missed the little shop. And the sweets. And the drinks. But the company. The company brought it all together. Adeline had... made Namine feel a little more normal.
"T-Thank you f-for telling me." she said.

Adeline nodded. Really, the best thing for Namine was to help her feel safe. Once she felt that, she would feel a lot more ready to tackle any other problems she had. Focusing on other things was difficult when you were constantly in a state of fear. In a way, Adeline could relate. When she had first summoned Thrax, she barely left the house for a long time. Heck, she hardly left her room. She was so afraid that Thrax could show up any second and hurt her again. Or worse, make her like him. It had taken a long time for her to get brave enough to leave the house. Even now, she still had her moments of just wanting to stay inside 24/7. Given enough time though, and if she talked with some friends, she could always pick herself back up and start going out again. That kind of support system worked for her. Maybe it could work for Namine too. "Hey, what else are friends for?" she said, giving a little smile.

Namine blinked owlishly. Friends? Was that what she and Adeline were? The blonde had a hard time determining what exactly they were but it was easy for Adeline to just declare it. Namine smiled brightly. It meant more to her than Adeline probably realized that the young woman would just declare they were friends like that. Namine had very few friends.
"Thank you." she breathed.

That statement seemed to cheer Namine up considerably. No doubt her pool of friends was very small. But, if Adeline could help her by being her friend, then she was all for it. In a way, Namine reminded her of herself. Her fear of Vanitas was very similar to hers, as well as her fear of Thrax. Both had been hurt by some bad demons in this city. Hopefully, they could move on from what had happened. Heck, maybe Adeline could introduce her to some of the good ones around here. Maybe meeting Pitch or Axel could help assure Namine that not every demon in Bellerouge was out to hurt people. It was a lesson Adeline herself had had to learn. At that moment however, Adeline heard her name called, and realized her order was ready. "Whoops, kind of became a chatterbox there," she joked. "Did your order something? I can grab it for you."

"O-Oh!"
She blushed darkly for how forgetful she had been. Her drink and her scone were sitting up at the counter. Her name must have been called and she never heard it. If she hadn't come in regularly, she was pretty sure one of the Seddons would have said something to her. She gave Adeline a sheepish smile. At least one of them had been paying attention.
"N-No, it's okay. I've kept you long e-enough." she said.

"Oh come on, it's no big deal," Adeline said. "I'll be right back." She headed over to the counter, quickly found her order, and figured out which one was Namine's. She soon brought both back to the table. "Can't let a good scone like that go to waste," she said. The treats at this place were pretty tasty, after all. Besides, it was always good to get some food in you. Something sweet might make Namine feel a little better.

Before Namine could protest about how Adeline didn't have to - the other woman was up and over to the counter. Her drink was still warm. Her scone probably looked a lot better than she first thought. Perhaps it was because she hadn't been eating much. Aqua was upset to find that the only thing that Omar had managed to get Namine to eat cake while she was away, but conceded that it was better than nothing.
"I-I haven't been here in a while..." Namined admitted. "I mi-missed it."

"Yeah. This has always been a good place to unwind and just feel safe," Adeline said as she took a bite of her muffin. Even before she had made any of the friends she had now, this was one of her favorite places to be, and it wasn't just because it happened to be the same as her last name. It was quiet and comforting. Then again, she felt safe at the Bourbon Graisse too, but only when Axel was there. Adeline wondered if she could get Namine to go there once she had had some more time to recover. Bringing her there now probably wasn't a good idea. All the noisy people might make her nervous.

Namine nodded in agreement. The cafe was great. The staff was pleasant and there were the police officers there a lot. She broke off a piece of the scone to nibble on it. Sweet. Cinnamon and sugar. She felt better since she had walked into the shop. It was a strange thing she had noticed about the shop. She always felt more relaxed after a visit. She felt silly for not visiting it sooner.
"D-Do you come here a lot?" Namine asked.

Adeline nodded. "Yeah. The only place I probably visit more than this is the library. I'm always looking for a good book, you know?" Sure, Adeline liked spell books mostly, but every so often, she'd dive into some fictional stuff as well. Reading an action book or a romance was a nice distraction every once in a while from all the spells she was learning. Although, now that she and Pitch had confessed their feelings for each other, she wondered if she could swing by his apartment more often than she used to. Sure, it was in a seedy part of town, but she had gotten there once without getting into any trouble. Surely she could do it again, right?

Namine nodded. She did enjoy reading too. Probably not as much as Aqua did, or Adeline either. The more peaceful habits like reading and drawing did distract Namine from things she rather not think about. Just sitting there and letting someone or something else take your mind off things was actually quite nice. Namine found herself smiling before she took a sip of her tea.
"I-I do more drawing, but I-I know what you mean." she said.

Well, at least Namine had something that relaxed her. For Adeline, it was books. For her friend, it was drawing. Adeline remembered some of the sketches she had seen when they first met, and she remembered them being pretty good. "Have you been back to work since...?" Her voice trailed off, not sure what to call what happened to Namine. The kidnapping? The Vanitas incident? The you-know-what? Addressing what had happened was a tricky thing to do.

"Part time," Namine said softly.
She was lucky to have a job at all. The chief had wanted her out by the time it had been a few weeks (after Namine used all of the vacation she had and possibly ever had). But Aqua had argued her case, managed to get the man to lay off her. If she lost this job, then she would truly have nothing. She didn't want that so she went back to work, even though she didn't think she was ready. Aqua had convinced the chief to give Namine a private office so she didn't have to be out near the criminals being dragged across the office area.
