He smirked. "I'm seven centuries old. I can 'honey' you all I want. I'm your elder" he didn't feel that bad anymore revealing his full age. He felt comfortable with Aqua. "I love milkshakes. Best invention humans ever made" He paused. "Second best. Humans also made electricity which paved the way for electric guitars. And I do love my electric guitar" He gave her a look. "I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. Either I give you my full attention or you don't get any time spent on you. It's part of how I live in the moment"

"I don't care how old you are," she replied.
She should, a small part of her whispered, but she didn't. Omar was a father. Jane was about her age. But he was also immortal. He was also going to adopt Namine. It only showed he had the experience to get through whatever life threw at him. Age wasn't really that big of a deal when it came to immortality. After a while, some immortals forgot their birthday and how old they were. Which was where the phrase, 'old as dirt' came from.
"I don't know. Indoor plumbing is pretty nice." she teased.
But the full attention part was what caught her. He shouldn't have taken time off work just to see her. That was... silly. It was the best word she had for it. He needed to work. It still made her stomach twist in in a way that wasn't entirely uncomfortable. Thinking she was just hungry she started in on her sandwich. To no surprise, it was as good as Omar said it would be.
"Well, I... Next time take the day off and spend it with Jane or someone." she advised.
Not her... Why would he want to spend time with her?

He smiled at her answer. Typical faery. They didn't care about age just about attraction. Of course, Aqua didn't seem all that bothered by attraction either. It was refreshing. He rolled his eyes. "Outhouses aren't a bad thing. I spent several hundred years with bedpans and outhouses. Sure indoor plumbing is nice but I'm still expecting it to go out as a fad and be replaced with the old stuff again" he grinned. "Think a young'un like you could handle living in a non-technologically advanced environment?" He was teasing of course. Things were probably only going to get more and more technological as time went on. He smiled gently. "I can see Jane any time I want. We have all eternity. I can stop by anytime and check in on Namine between jobs. I want to know you better, sweetheart. Just because. I don't meet many nice faeries"

"Yes, I would be able to get by. Thank you. Dad used to take me camping when I was little." she replied, feigning indigence.
Granted, she had been quite small. Everything she had done at the camp site had been with her parents' help. From fishing to gathering the firewood. But those had been some good times. She should have spent that week in the faery courts camping instead. Fat lot of help that did her. A scroll on someone's past and a scroll that she was still fighting translations for.
Almost instantly her face went red when he said he wanted to get to know her better. She could almost feel the tips of her ears burning beneath her glamour. She looked off to the side, trying to avoid Omar's gaze. She couldn't read into that. He just wanted to know his daughter's roommate. Make sure Namine was in good hands. Otherwise, he would probably whisk the little blonde off and Aqua would be left alone in that too big apartment by herself.
"I don't meet many nice guys like you often either..." she admitted.

"How little we talking here? Because to me you're still little" Omar joked with a shit-eating grin. He smirked again when she went red. She was pretty when she was blushing. He went to take a drink of his coffee and nearly choked when she called him a nice guy. That was unexpected. He cleared his throat and turned wide eyes to her. "I'm not a nice guy. I'm a bad boy" he said with another smirk after he'd taken a moment to recover. "I'll ruin your good girl reputation, I've done it a dozen times over" good save, Omar.
The lights dimmed and Omar turned in his seat to get a better look at the stage. The show was starting.

"Oh hush! We can't all be born when you were." she retorted. "I think I was... five the last time I went camping."
Had it really been that long? She spent so long in the city, she was used to the familiar ache that iron brought on her body. Day in and day out, it was like waking up with her body stiff and uncomfortable no matter how she shifted or stretched. When she left the city, she felt that pain ebb away. She had to quickly cover her mouth when Omar started coughing into his drink, to hide the laugh, but she was certain her wide eyes probably gave it away. It had only been the truth. She was a police officer. Aside from her partner and the guys at the precinct, she dealt with mostly bad men.
"Yeah? Bad boys don't bake cakes for little girls after demon attacks."

"I'm going to fix this. A troll is happiest in a wild enviroment and it's high time I took Jane camping. Never did when she was little because of the war. Her, me and Namine. You too if you want" He figured a city girl would have a time in the forest. Especially a city bred faery. She'd be both completely lost and totally at home in the woods. He pointed a finger at her jokingly. "Don't laugh at me! I got street cred! I'm a total badass!" he smiled faintly. "Bad boys make the best dads because we don't give a shit what others think and raise our kids with style. I can do whatever the hell I want for my girls. I'm just that badass" He winked. "I can rock a pink apron too. Jane put me in one when she was four, little tyke"
The first person came on stage and Omar listened. It was about war. Oh, he could tell this kid about war. He'd seen centuries of it. Seelie fighting Unseelie, man fighting man. It never changed, never ended. Only got bloodier as years went on.

"O-Oh, I wouldn't want to intrude. It's a family outing." she insisted. "You should probably let Jane and Namine get to know each other without me interfering."
She was flattered that he would extend the offer to her, but she wanted him to have time for his family too. The people who really mattered. But the camping trip sounded nice. She would have to save up more vacation time. She used the last of hers for Riku and Sunshine, not to mention all the time off she took looking after Namine before her trip. She was tapped.
The more he talked about how 'bad ass' he was, the more he proved he really wasn't. He could act as big and tough as he wanted, but underneath, he had a heart of gold. It didn't help that Aqua had to fight the desperate urge to laugh as the young man recited poetry about war. Battle was no laughing matter so she shot a dirty look at Omar. It might have been intidimiating if not for the hands clamped over her mouth and nearly being doubled over the table.

"Might make Namine more comfortable, having a good friend along" Omar pointed out. "I mean, she has to get used to me as a dad figure and Jane as a sister. Which I still have to actually tell Jane she's going to have a sister" it might be a problem. He didn't know how Jane would take it. She might think he was trying to replace her brother, which wasn't the case at all. He smirked as she was doubled over laughing during the poem. "And yet I've killed before. How's that for street cred?" he said calmly, quietly. "But being a true fighter was a long time ago. I'm enjoying relative peace" He'd promised Cindy during the Black Wars he wouldn't kill. Fat lot of good it did, she and their son died. But he'd kept his promise. He just turned his anger and frustration and hatred towards the BPD. Now...he finally wasn't as angry anymore. The next poem was about life and Omar nodded once. It was pretty good.

"You talk things out with them first, then we'll see." she said. "And yes, it's probably a good idea not to just spring that one on Jane!"
Jane probably wouldn't take it well if he just walked in with Namine and introduced the blonde as Jane's new sister. But then again, Aqua didn't know Jane well and couldn't figure out how she thought the woman would react. She and Jane weren't as close as Jane and Namine were becoming. Aqua didn't mind. She didn't want to take away from Namine's need for socialization with good trusting people.
"It..."
He shouldn't have told her that. She was a police officer. Murder was illegal. But what she knew of history, things couldn't be black and white. A lot of it was survival. Kill or be killed. Invaders. Raiders. Fights. Starvation. Riots. History was never kind and the fact that Omar endured all of that and was still there to tell the tale said a lot about him.
"It doesn't matter. You were born in a different time. Things were different then." she said.

"I'll sit down with them. Deciding to adopt Namine was spur of the moment so I'm scrambling to get a lawyer and all the paperwork together. When it becomes more certain, I'll tell Jane. She might think I'm replacing her little brother but I'm not. Namine needs a dad and I'm here. I see her as my daughter .I might as well make it official.
"I didn't kill anyone you can arrest me for. No cold cases are miraculously going to be solved. I'm just saying, I've done it. It was harsh but hey, like you said, different times" he smiled thinly. "I was a blacksmith's apprentice when I was a teenager. And a total pushover. For the most part, I'm not anymore. I got hot-headed. But I learned; wearing your heart on your sleeve can be a weapon. Kill with utter kindness" He gave a short laugh. "But I haven't needed to in a long time"

"Why not try Elsa Crispin? She does a lot of cases for Others. And... The whole adoption thing is nice. It'll fully emancipate her away from that... deadbeat she has to call a father now." Aqua said.
Aqua shared no love for Namine's father. She had been happy to tell Namine that despite the fact the man escaped from prison during the riots, he had been caught very quickly. Namine had gone from fearful beyond belief to relaxed. She had been so afraid the man got out as well. Vanitas was another story entirely. Aqua had not been happy to deliver that news.
"Seems you're a jack of all trades, Omar," she said.
She was going to focus on the lighter things. Cold cases could get solved but really if he did it centuries ago, it was slim to none, plus no one could prove it was him. Still, listening to him made Aqua's chest hurt. He had it so terrible if he thought the first thing she was going to do when she met him was look down on him all because of species and having to do awful things in order to survive.

"Elsa? Hmm....Alright. I'll try her. Thanks" he shrugged. "I don't know much about her dad. I just know she needs someone she can look up to. I'll happily be that person for her" Omar had no idea what Namine's father was like but he couldn't have been good. The girl shook at the drop of a leaf. He picked at his sandwich. "Well, it's like this. Life keeps changing, I have to adapt. I'm a singer right now, but I could be a doctor next. I don't know what I'll do, but I just have to keep adapting, surviving, focusing on now so one day I.." he closed his mouth and looked down. 'So one day I can be free'. He'd almost said that. "...Nothing. I'm just waxing poetic, heh"

"You don't need to know about her father. You wouldn't like him." Aqua said. "Just focus on being a better parental figure for Namine now. That's all I ask."
She didn't want to go into more detail than that. Omar was a protective sort and if he found out that Namine had a mean drunk for a father, then things would only get ugly. Omar would probably have no problems killing the man if it came to it. She probably wouldn't even fault him for it. Omar would be a vast improvement from her biological father. Already it was plain to see the calming effects Omar had on the frazzled girl, encouraging her to eat and sleep after her ordeal with Vanitas. Walking her home when he found her alone on the street. He really was a sweet guy.
"Doctor LaRue?" she smiled.
He seemed so casual about his job. Aqua supposed that once she had gotten to be a few centuries old maybe being a police officer would be tiresome. She would probably look for a new job. Who knows? She hadn't gotten to that point yet. That last bit did catch her off guard. So one day he could be... what? He obviously didn't want to talk about it if he dismissed it so quickly. There were things she wasn't ready to talk about as well.
"Maybe it's just the atmosphere. Feeling a bit creative?" she asked.

"Alright. So he's a regular rat bastard" Omar was pretty glad Namine's father wasn't in front of him now, he'd start a massive fight with the man. "My son Snapper was a healer once" he said with a shrug. "If he can do it, why not? I'm adaptable. I'd like to work with kids mainly though" He slid off his chair as the next poem ended and winked at her. "Maybe sweetheart. I think I'll put that creativity to the test, hm?" He got on stage, paused a moment and started.
"The air is sweet, new beginnings all around. grass is growing neath my feet, birds chirp in the air. I can overcome so much, now. I met you, give me hope to start again. You are my new beginning. I'm not afraid Moving forward is easier with two"
