As good as her word, Aqua invited both Riku and Weiss to her apartment. Neither knew the other was coming. As a precaution, Aqua sent Namine over to Jane's house, in case things got a little more hairy than they already were. But she was going to get the LaFayette siblings to talk about their problems if it was the last thing she did. Actually, it was probably very vital that she got them to talk because Riku depended on it. For reasons he didn't even known. She had finally translated the text of the scroll for Riku's cure. She saw no one better suited to cure the eldest LaFayette than his younger sister.
They would be furious at her for not telling them the other would be there, but it was either that or handcuff them together. And she did make dinner, like she promised the both of them. It had taken some doing to get either of them there. She was quite proud of herself for making it this far. She only hoped that her apartment would survive the two siblings under one roof. She sighed and pulled the lasagna out of the oven.
"Here's to good luck," she whispered.

Riku came with a bottle of wine. House gifts were always welcome and after his great date with Sunshine he wanted nothing more than to celebrate things going great, even if he was a giant rabbit. He knocked on the door when he came to the apartment he believed was right. He was bursting with excitement to tell Aqua about his good date with Sunshine. His life was really looking up and he was happy. "Aqua? It's Riku. I'm excited to talk to you" he called through the door.

Truth be told, Weiss was glad to get out of the house for dinner. She wasn't exactly best friends with Aqua, but she did know some of the drama going on between her and Riku, so that counted for something. Besides, she was sure the fairy would be much better company than what was in store for her at home. Dinner was either with her parents, or by herself, depending if they were out or not. Either prospect wasn't very desirable. So, she'd been pretty enthusiastic at receiving Aqua's invitation to dinner. Her shadow spirits weren't around for the moment, but knowing them, they probably weren't too far away. They were starting to become like dogs that never strayed too far from their master, in case they had to come to her protection. Weiss wasn't sure how to feel about that. She knew having them around was dangerous, but honestly, they were with her far more than anyone else was. That certainly said something. Either way, she was in decently high spirits by the time she got to Aqua's apartment. However, those high spirits took a nosedive when she spotted somebody at the front door. Technically, she had only seen him look this way once, but he was the only bunny-person she knew. "Riku? What the hell are you doing here?" Her eyes instantly narrowed. If Riku was here for police business or something, it was going to have to wait. She was here to have a nice time with Aqua, and that was that.

"Ah, Riku, please, come in!"
Aqua ushered the rabbit into the apartment. She only hoped the ceilings were high enough so he wouldn't hit his head or scrape his ears. She didn't think she noticed it until now, but Riku seemed happier. His step seemed a little perkier, even for a rabbit. She smiled at him. She was happy to say, they were both in a good mood.
It would seem Weiss was quite punctual. Aqua had hoped to have the door closed before Weiss got there so that way she could have both of them in their with neither of them the wiser until the door was closed. The blue haired woman winced. She just had to get them both inside so they could talk. The two siblings had to get past this. It just about broke her heart to see this. If she had a sibling, she wouldn't have wanted to fight, but Aqua also didn't have family the way these two did.
"Weiss, it's okay. I invited him." Aqua said quickly. "Please, come inside?"

"I'd be happy to"Riku said happily as he walked into the apartment. Riku's ears lowered when he heard his sister's voice and he turned to face Aqua. His eyes narrowed and a very unhappy look on his face. "You know Weiss? When did this happen? Furthermore why would you invite us both over? Without telling us?" He set the wine on the coffee table and turned to walk out of the apartment, ears drooping. He'd trusted his partner. Why would she do this to him?

Weiss blinked. Aqua invited both her and Riku over? At the same time? Weiss wondered if she had a death wish or something. Sure, she and Riku had been civil towards each other at the hospital, but that was because Weiss was injured. Besides, it wasn't like they had forgiven each other or anything. Weiss's feelings toward her brother hadn't exactly changed. If anything, she had gotten more pissed off with her family in general over the past month. Her bitterness towards her brother was still there, and her parents had gotten on her nerves even more now, thanks to her silly stunt with Thrax. "We met a while back," she replied as she stepped inside. However, it looked like her brother wasn't about to stick around, and was already turning to walk out the door. "Let him go if he wants to, Aqua," she said, waving her hand as if the whole matter was a little bug she could brush away. "This won't be the first time Riku's walked out on someone." She glared at her brother's back.

"Don't go," Aqua requested. "I get that you're probably both mad at me for this, but would you have honestly met with each other if I hadn't?"
She hadn't lied to either of them. Neither of them had asked about if anyone else was attending. She had been straight forward with each of them. She wanted them over for dinner. Still, the look of betrayal on Riku's face hadn't helped ease her conscience any and Weiss' utter dismissal of her brother stung in a way that it shouldn't have. She almost wanted to take either of them by the ear and give them both a lecture. But that wasn't going to do anything and she was going to have to save her energy in case things went the route of spells being cast. Hopefully, her apartment could survive that.
"Besides, I did tell you I would get you two together so you could talk." she said.
This was a dangerous game she was playing. But she needed it to work. It wouldn't if they knew what she was doing so she couldn't say anything. She had told Weiss she would get them together, she would act as the buffer and let them talk this out. Riku knew that she felt that he should try to give his sister more benefit of the doubt. The two humans were just so proud that it was keeping them from seeing what they were missing out on, something Aqua was sincerely jealous of them for having - family. They were going to let one quarrel get in the way of that.

Riku flinched at the comment of his sister and leveled her a piercing glare. “I was disinherited with the threat that if I so much as glanced our parents way I’d lose my job. Is that what you want? Am I so much a dirt stain on your pristine life that you have to make comments? Typical of a daddy’s girl like you I suppose” It hurt to say that, but if she wanted to make comments he could dish it right back.
“I would have liked a little warning. It’s been a while since I’ve seen my sister except for in the hospital and well...neither time was very good” sure, they’d been civil in the hospital but still. “The scar makes you look more like mom” he offered to his sister after a few minutes. “More regal”

Weiss gritted her teeth, but didn't say anything in response to Aqua for a moment. That was the truth. Aqua had talked about trying to patch things up between her and her brother. Weiss hadn't had much faith in it actually working, but she wasn't about to stop her either. It wasn't like she could control what the fairy did. She figured once she saw it was a lost cause, she'd put her efforts towards something else and leave them be. She was certainly getting a taste of what these two could do, with them firing insults at each other a mile a minute. "Don't you try to pull that on me. You wanted to leave long before Mom and Dad kicked you out," she snapped. As far as she was concerned, Riku was out the door the moment he decided to be a police officer and stray away from the family name. Sure, their family life wasn't great, but that didn't mean he had to leave her too. There was a moment of silence, and it was enough for their tempers to sizzle down a little bit. Riku's comment about her scar made her sigh. She still wasn't sure how to feel about that. Sure, her mom was a great witch doctor. But at the same time, she wasn't the greatest when it came to motherly affection. Weiss only tended to get it when there was a crisis on hand. Weiss wasn't sure if she was a great role model. "I'm only staying 'cause dinner at home would be worse than here," she declared. Sure, Riku wasn't exactly desirable company. But it was better than eating alone or with her parents, and watching her shadow spirits occasionally peek out from a corner, always avoiding everyone else's attention. No doubt they were nearby, sensing her anger and distress.

Aqua let out a slow breath. She shut the front door after everyone was inside. No need giving the nosey neighbors something to watch. This was... not great but at least they hadn't started hexing each other. Riku was right. She should have given him the benefit of the doubt and warned him she was inviting his sister, but at the same time she had already told him she would do it. Not even a few minutes in and they were already bickering. At least dinner wouldn't be boring, she supposed. She had no plan for this. She was out of her element. Causing hurt, was not something she knew how to do well. Mending on the other hand...
"Well, I made lasagna." she said.

"I never wanted to leave! I wanted my family to be supportive of my choice!" Riku erupted. "But instead my parents kick me out of the house and my sister snubs her nose at me! What kind of family does that?! I always thought we used our abilities to help people but no, we only use it for those who can afford the great LaFayette prestige! We clawed our way to the top on the misfortunes of others. How can you stand that?" Lasagna sounded good, and the wine he brought would go well with it. But he continued glaring at his sister. "I have no other plans. I suppose I can stay for a quick bite to eat"

Aqua's voice was surprisingly calm as she said she had lasagna. Weiss wondered how she still thought this was a good idea. Weiss and Riku were like cold air and warm air. Mix the two together and you got a tornado. "Sounds great," Weiss replied, her voice still tense from yelling. Honestly, she wasn't sure how much of it would actually be consumed. It was hard to argue and eat at the same time, which proved to be true when Riku snapped back at her as she sat at the table. Her hands curled into fists, mostly because Riku was right, in a way. She didn't want to be the voodoo queen to help people, not like the great Marie Laveau. She wanted it so she could be at the top and be in charge of things. She wanted to be listened to for once, not kept as her parents' shiny new toy to show off whenever they pleased. In short, she wanted power, only because she had felt so powerless throughout most of her life. She couldn't stop her parents from being jerks. She couldn't stop Riku from leaving. But maybe, this one thing, she could have control over. "You think leaving our family is going to make them any better?" she asked, her eyes glinting like ice in the sunlight. "That's not fixing a problem. That's running away from it. So don't go around accusing me of being fine with how they do things 'cause you seem pretty content to let them keep doing it."

Weiss had taken a seat. That was a good sign, but she was also staying because she preferred not to eat alone. That was... difficult to swallow. Being around someone who caused her that much discomfort shouldn't have been preferable to being alone. Aqua cut the young heiress out a piece of lasagna before plating it for her and setting it in front of her. She did the same for a third plate - Riku's plate. She set it at an empty spot before putting a hand on Riku's forearm.
"Maybe you should be looking at your parents for this." Aqua pointed out. "They were the ones who made you choose between the family name and your dreams, Riku. At the same time, they're cutting you off from Weiss to keep control of her and make you look like the bad guy. Weiss, your parents haven't exactly made it easy for Riku to keep and touch. You're also not listening to him."
This was out of her element. She didn't have a family to compare this to or a basis of comparison. Her parents got along when she was a child. Occasionally they would have fought, but they made up. They always made up. Whether her mother belted out sappy love songs or her father came home with apology chocolates. Flowers and chocolate wasn't going to fix this but talking was a start.

“I became a cop so I could stop-” he paused and glanced at Aqua. There was no need to air dirty family laundry while Aqua was there. “There are bad people who hit kids and never get in trouble” he said quietly. “People who give their wives scars and around them nobody questions the mark on the woman’s cheek. I became a cop to stop those people. To give power to the powerless. And you say I’m doing nothing to fix the problem. One day, I’m going to fix everything. Sitting quietly and being a doll was running away; this is facing the problem head on in a way our parents hate” He sat down when lasagna was put on the plate and nodded to Aqua. “Thank you for the meal” he told her, more out of habit than anything. “You and I can have wine. Weiss gets milk or water” he gave Weiss a look, daring her to argue that. “My parents threatened to find a way to remove my badge and have me publically humiliated if I came to the party” he said with a sigh. “So there’s that. But Weiss is too angry to listen. She always gets this way when she’s hurt or scared”

Weiss's eyes narrowed. She wasn't sure if Riku was implying something or not. Regardless, it seemed like their parents did have a hand with him not getting in touch with her. She had to swallow that fact, however much she didn't want to. And if Riku had a hand in making sure others families didn't end up like theirs, then that was a good thing. Still, she couldn't ignore the feeling of abandonment that was always festering inside her. Riku had been the only family she could trust. With him gone, she was practically on her own. She couldn't forgive him for that. "Milk is for kids," she muttered under her breath. She felt like she was being treated like a child. "Well, it's easy for you to go against the grain and do what you want. You're an adult. I'm not. It's not like I can move out if I don't like what they're doing." However much her parents encouraged her to go out and socialize, the house was still a cage she had to return to. Weiss knew her parents were keeping an eye on her, to make sure she didn't try anymore crazy stunts like she had with Thrax. The household servants seemed to be doing the same, either because her parents asked them to, or because they feared she might go crazy after experiencing something traumatic like that.
