It seemed that Weiss's family was very very high influencing. He had never been a big fan of those kinds of people in the past, they had always been those kids who made Wally feel a bit down in the dumps. It seemed though, that in Weiss's case, unless he was imagining it, she didn't really like the pressure or maybe didn't approve of what her parents were doing. Still, a voodoo queen. That was impressive.
"That's an impressive title. I think that you could easily become that, you already have shown you are dedicated enough." he nodded thinking about the whole library thing. Not a lot of people with a family in that position would go out of their way to research the subject the family was famous for. Most would just get the position anyways. Weiss, wanted the position, not because of her family but because she truly was dedicated.

Weiss was glad to hear at least one person thought she could pull it off. Most thought she was reaching too high, or that she didn't need her parents' influence to get the position. Weiss didn't know how she could without them though. Nowadays, you needed to know someone in the business in order to get the job, and her parents were right at the top. What could be better than that? Although, she wasn't sure if Wally was just being polite in saying she seemed cut out for the job, or optimistic. Either way, she appreciated the vote of confidence. "Thanks," she said, her tone a little less stiff than before. "So, what do you do? What are your goals?" Judging from how Wally spoke and how he dressed, he probably wasn't upper class. So, being a CEO or something was probably not in the cards for him. Or maybe he had no idea what he wanted to do. Some teenagers were like that. Weiss had never been one of them though. Even from a young age, she knew wanted to be a witch doctor. It was practically in her blood, after all.

Even from a young age, she knew wanted to be a witch doctor. It was practically in her blood, after all. Well, i don't like to bring Miss, but I am a hero.
That's what he wanted to say but that was one true rule about being a hero, not to reveal anything about themselves. Wally rubbed the back of his head instead sheepishly. How would he explain what he did without exactly giving it away that he appeared in newspapers every now and then. "My goals?" Avenge my mother and put the man who took everything from me behind bars. "I want to help make this world safer, I think helping everyone feel safer is what I want to do." That sounded like a kid definition of what a cop was or even a firefighter. He thought about it for a long time, even visiting injured kids in the hospital was enough to make him want to work towards this goal. He wasn't going to be getting any degrees or anything, he wasn't as smart as everyone else but if he could work towards anything like that it would help. As for a job, he was looking. "I am kind of searching for a real job right now." Being a hero was fine but you didn't get paid for it.

Help make the world safer...it sounded like something Riku would say. Really, that was what her brother wanted to do. He wanted to help people and make sure nobody else had a rotten childhood like he and Weiss had. She still wasn't sure how to feel about him leaving her though. She knew it was for a good cause and that he was happier this way, but she still couldn't shake that feeling of abandonment. These days, her shadow spirits tended to hang out with her the most, although Weiss wasn't sure if she could call them friends yet. They were starting to understand each other a little better, but that was about it. "Well, I guess you came to the right place to do that," she commented. "Bellerouge seems to need helping out a lot these days." Even before the jailbreak had happened, there was trouble to be found here and there. It just tended to happen when you had a bunch of supernatural beings together in one place. Conflicts were inevitable.

Wally could only nod. "I've heard that a lot lately, that there's been a lot of trouble going down. Demons and criminals running loose. It doesn't really scream peaceful but I want to at least try to help even if it won't be much." It was another part of him that wondered if he had never gone to Bellerouge would his mother still be alive? Would this situation have happened if they had remained at home? So many questions and yet he didn't have the answers. Fortunately for him, time and speed were on his side but he doubted it would be the same for other people.

Wally seemed optimistic that he could help some way, even if it was something little. Weiss didn't have that positive outlook on life so much. It wasn't that she doubted him, far from it. She was sure there was some charity or some place he could volunteer and help out. She just tended to be pessimistic about her own life. Helping people wasn't exactly a priority in her family. Sure, they made donations to a nonprofit organization every now and then, or they hosted a charity concert, but it was mostly just to better the family's image. That was what her parents cared most about, and helping out the poor every now and then made them look nice. Weiss knew they didn't really care much about them though. At least there were people around like Wally and her brother who wanted to help people and didn't ask for anything in return. "You should probably avoid walking around at night, if you can help it," she said. "This neighborhood is relatively safe, but others aren't, especially now."

Right. The whole demon thing wasn't going to go away from people's thoughts. He didn't blame them though, he would have been just as scared. His green eyes flickered a bit with understanding. These crimes were not going to help people feel safer, if anything it would only make them want to leave the city. Demons, based on what Chat had told him they were different than Others. It would only make normal people hate them even more.
"I could say the same to you." he said smiling. "You may be heading home but aren't you in just as much risk as I am? Voodoo or not?" he asked.

Weiss frowned. "I'm not some helpless little girl. I can take care of myself just fine," she replied harshly. She knew why people tended to assume that about her, but that didn't mean it still didn't annoy her, especially now. She had taken on Thrax by herself. She didn't need any protecting. Yet, it seemed more and more often lately, people wanted to help her and coddle her and save her from her predicament with her parents. More often than not, Weiss wished they could just leave her alone. She had been looking after herself for a long time, she saw no reason to stop now. Besides, all the help people wanted to give her just made her feel guilty. She wasn't sure if she deserved it, not when she was questioning whether she was really a good person or not.

Wally raised his hands up, "Believe me, I think that you aren't a damsel in distress or anything." That was the last thing he wanted to assume about Weiss. "Based on the fact you can do voodoo, I know very well not to underestimate you." He would hate to be face to face with her if he had been a criminal. He didn't want to get on her bad side. How could he make this up to her without sounding like a major jerk. "My apologizes. That was not how I wanted that to come out." Wally rubbed his neck with his hand nervously. "I wouldn't think that you couldn't handle yourself but call me old fashion in wanting to help a lady get home safe." He tried to give a cheeky smile. "You can call me a creep and a jerk for assuming that if it helps you feel better."

The anger in Weiss's eyes lasted for a moment longer, then she gave a sigh. Wally was just trying to be nice. He wasn't assuming anything. However, it troubled her that she was lashing out at people like this more often lately. Saying one wrong thing around her could make her snap at somebody. Was it the stress of dealing with what Thrax had done to her? Or was the burden of all the secrets she was keeping becoming too much? After all, she had a lot that she wasn't willing to say around her friends, or strangers for that matter. "I'm sorry. That was...rude of me," she said, brushing her hair out of her face. It seemed like she was getting worse and worse when it came to social interactions. If she snapped like this in front of her parents, they could get mad at her for sure. They'd had issues with her temper before.

Wally's smile slowly faded a bit. "It's alright," he said. Despite being new to the town, he wanted to at least try to understand what was going on. It seemed that in Weiss's case, there was a lot going on. More than he probably realized. "I would probably have snapped to if that happened to me." What else could he do but agree with her. He could very well agree with such things, people underestimating him had always been a big issue for him. That's when he noticed the scar. It was faint but he could see it pretty clearly. How had she gotten that?
"A strong girl like you obviously can handle yourself." he nodded before thinking. "I take it that your family's status puts a lot of pressure on you?"
It wasn't abnormal for rich people to put a lot of pressure on their children. But he hadn't expected the same to be said for Others or Gifted beings.

Wally seemed to forgive her pretty easily, which was an interesting change. Most people were put-off whenever she lost her temper. His statement about her family putting a lot of pressure on her made her frown. Was that really so easy to see just by looking at her? She hated being easy to read. It made her feel vulnerable. And she wasn't about to spout her whole story now. She didn't know Wally well enough, plus it would take forever. Besides, would he even understand? Some people found it hard to believe that Weiss had it hard. After all, she could get anything she wanted and lived in a house most people could only dream of. "Well, the LaFayettes have a lot to live up to," she said. "We're the head of the voodoo world and constantly in the spotlight. If we don't keep up our image, reporters go nuts." Journalists seemed to like it when things went wrong for them. It made better stories. They had practically had a field day when Thrax had crashed the ball months ago. It had taken them forever to talk about something else.

Ah. The press. That made so much sense, the reporters no matter what the issue, they pounced on anything that caught their eye. No matter how little or insignificiant it was. They were like vultures. Couldn't they just let people have their own lives? If someone so much as had a hair out of place it made the front page. No wonder Weiss seemed stressed, and uneasy. Her family being the head of the voodoo world, he was sure that everything they did was under radar.
"Sounds like a hard time. I can't imagine that." he said. Even if Wally was a hero and had been mentioned in the papers. Nothing could be more insufferable than always being under the spotlight. "Your life doesn't sound easy, but if you need to talk. I am here."

Wally seemed sympathetic, which was a surprise. Most people had a hard time understanding the kind of pressure Weiss was under. Very few people did. Riku understood, as did Adrien and Elsa. But that was about it. Still, Wally offered to listen if she ever needed to talk. Weiss wasn't sure if she could ever take him up on that offer, but it was nice nevertheless. It was different from how her parents acted whenever she needed to talk. Most of the time, they told her to just suck it up and stop whining. They were too busy with their own problems to worry about hers too much. "Thanks. I'll remember that," she said politely.

Wally's smile returned and nodded, understanding the situation well enough. He was just a stranger and nothing else was good about letting out secrets about families to strangers. Even if he had been very nice to her. He may have been so open with others but other people were not the same way. Shy was not the word to describe him at all. "No problem." he replied, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"How did you get the scar?" The question came out without warning. He hadn't thought, his mouth just formed the question and spoke. Shoot, shoot. That might be a poor subject to come across. He immediately realized his mistake. "I am so sorry, that came out so suddenly. You really don't have to answer that."
He was mentally beating himself up, the conversation had been going so well. And now he had to go and mess everything up. "Uh, really you don't have to answer that, I just was curious you know. You can you know ask me anything you want instead."
