Namine had gone to the library in hopes to find books about magical properties. They were harder to find than she thought. She had hoped to find a book to help her use her powers, not be so afraid of them or hurting someone. However her search came up dry. She sighed and sat down in one of the comfortable reading chairs that dotted shelves. What was she supposed to do now? She didn't want to be more of a bother to any of her friends and ask them to teach her how to use her own powers. She should have done this a long time ago but she thought that by ignoring the problem (her powers) the problem (her powers) would just go away. That however, was not the case. They only grew in strength and she was terrified of doing something wrong.

These days, Adeline felt like she went to the library out of habit more than anything else. For a long time, she had gone there to try and find any information about Thrax. Then, after she had met Pitch, she had researched ways of calming her mind so her demon side wouldn't take over. Since she had found out a lot about both, she wasn't sure what else there was to do. Still, she liked the library. Like the Nevermore Coffeehouse, it was quiet and relaxing. She felt a little less paranoid here. She ended up picking up a book on transfiguration and looked for someplace to read. However, something else caught her attention: her friend Namine. Honestly, she was surprised to see her, but then again, it made sense that she would be here. Namine tended to like calm, quiet atmospheres almost as much as she did, maybe even more-so. And if she was out here on her own, then maybe that was a sign that she was feeling better. She walked over with a smile and said "Hey Namine."

Namine was pulled out of her thoughts when someone called her name. She almost expected Aqua. The faery did frequent the library from time to time. And the tone was soft, gentle. It didn't set her on edge (for once). Perhaps it was because the library was a quiet place. Also, likely the last place Vanitas would ever be caught in. Jane had made a comment or two about how she doubted the demon could read. Namine had tried not to laugh over that one, but it seemed to have made her feel less like Vanitas was going to bust in at any moment.
"Hello," she greeted back.

Adeline approached Namine as her friend greeted her back. She didn't exactly sound like she was bursting with happiness, but Adeline felt like there was a slight perk to it. "Have you been? Are you doing okay?" she asked. Whoever was in Namine's support system seemed to be helping her out pretty well. Although, Adeline had to wonder why Namine was here exactly. Was it just to enjoy the peace and quiet? Or was she looking for a specific book? It could be a little difficult sometimes, to find a specific text you were looking for. Lucky for Adeline, she practically knew the spell section by heart. Magical history and just regular young adult fiction were also areas she was at frequently.

"I-I've been okay." she said.
And she had been. She hadn't been great or fantastic, just okay. Things were slowly getting back to normal. She was actually enjoying more time out of work than in it. Aqua suggested a change in careers, but Namine knew nothing else but the work she did for the police. Minus the occasional commission, she was constantly on call at the police station. They didn't have another sketch artist. But Aqua was right, the office did set her on edge. Criminals being dragged in day in and day out. Not to mention with the turbulent emotions she was going through, she was struggling to keep her powers in check. But nothing had happened. Yet.
"W-What about you?" she asked.

Namine still seemed to be stuttering a bit, but Adeline figured that was just part of who she was. She sounded okay otherwise. She shrugged in answer to her question. "Same old, same old, I guess," she replied. "Nothing much going on." That was a bit of a lie, but Adeline wasn't about to start spewing out the truth. Being in a relationship with Pitch, albeit a secret one, made her a lot happier. Just knowing that he loved her and would protect her, it made her feel safer than she had ever felt before. There was still that paranoid about Thrax somehow hurting him, but Pitch seemed so confident that he could take him on. Adeline really wanted to believe it was true. "So, what are you doing here?" she asked. "Looking for a book?"

"I..."
She felt herself blushing darkly. All these books on magic and none of them made any sense to her. A power like hers had been left unchecked for too long. What if she hurt Omar or Jane? Made them forget each other or forget her? She wouldn't be able to handle that. Things had been easier when she had been alone. Get up, go to work, go home, wash, rinse, repeat. She had nothing to worry about losing then. But opening herself up to other people (while hard) made her more vulnerable and more afraid to lose them. She had grown very attached, enough she had accidentally suggested for Omar to adopt her. But he was the one who agreed.
"Was t-trying to find a book on magic." she explained, "I-I can't... control my powers."

Adeline blinked. She hadn't expected an answer like that. Heck, Namine hadn't even talked about her powers that much. As far as Adeline knew, she had only mentioned them once or twice. "Your powers...you said you could alter memories right?" she asked. Something like that could be dangerous if it wasn't controlled, even Adeline could admit that much. One wrong move and somebody could lose all their memories, forget who they were. No doubt Namine already knew that though. Talking about the dark aspect of it would probably only terrify her. Adeline had to be positive about it. "Well, I'm not sure if there are any books about people like you specifically. I mean, I've run across a few spells that can alter memories, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing as what a gifted human like you can do." Witches and gifted humans, while pretty similar, weren't exactly 100% alike. Adeline wasn't sure if a memory spell cast by a witch was the same as what Namine could do.

"Yes," Namine quietly confirmed.
It was hard for her. Her father wasn't a Gifted Human. He wasn't an Other either. So that left her mother. The woman who disappeared out of her life when she was just a little girl. One night during the Black War, things had gotten particularly bad and her mother had been out. She never came back home. Namine never got answers as to what happened to her. She would have done anything to have her back, to explain these powers and make her feel like less of a freak for being able to do the things that she could.
"I-I haven't been able to find anything useful." she said.
And that was the difficult part. Namine wasn't sure there were people like her. She had never met anyone who could do what she could. Being the only one that could wipe someone's memory the way she was had frightened her. She could control so much. That scared her. Because if she started changing memories willy-nilly the power would go to her head.

Adeline frowned. Namine seemed pretty down about all this. Was there anything she could do to help? Surely, there had to be something. "I suppose asking family is out of the question?" she ventured. Namine's dad was in jail, so he obviously wasn't going to help. Adeline had no idea if Namine had a mother. She probably didn't, considering Omar was adopting her. Either she was a deadbeat too, or dead. Was there anyone on either side of her family that could help? She figured they might as well try that option, if they could. If not, maybe Adeline could come up with a Plan B.

"No," she sighed in soft defeat. "I d-don't even know w-which parent I got this from."
They were little more than caregivers for her for her earlier years of life. She barely remembered her mother, even if she adored the woman dearly, she knew next to nothing about her. As for her father, she wouldn't ask him for help if it would save her life. He wouldn't help eve if she had asked him for any form of assistance. He would likely laugh at her and call her a 'miserable waste of space' or something equally harsh and critical. No. She couldn't go to her parents.

So much for that plan. That made things a little more difficult. At least in Adeline's case, she had always had help from her parents, who were magicians. And she had a tutor that was a skilled wizard. Namine had nobody. But, Adeline was determined to find something that could help. "Well, maybe we can took a look at some books on memory altering spells and see if they can help," she said. "They might not exactly be the same as what you can do, but it could be a good place to start." If finding someone with memory altering powers like Namine was out of the question, then finding magic spells that could do a similar thing was probably the next best thing. Adeline had learned about them in theory, but she had never practiced them herself. She never really had a reason to, and she wasn't sure if she could handle the responsibility of altering someone's memories. She preferred to focus on other things.

"I don't want to be a b-bother..."
She was certain that Adeline had better things to do than help her with her problems. They might have agreed to be friends, but Namine was terrified that she would finally say or do something that would put Adeline off so much that she wanted nothing to do with her. Her inability to control her own magic might just be the straw that broke the camel's back. She had let this become a problem after so long that she was literally a time bomb waiting to happen. For all she knew, she would be arrested by the police for hurting someone.

"Come on, let me at least help you get started," Adeline said. "Then, you can go on your own from there." She wanted to help out, at least a little. Of course, she wasn't exactly sure how much help she could provide, but she was willing to try. She had only gotten where she was today because some people had decided to try and help her. She could at least try to do the same for others. "I've been studying magic my whole life. Finding something to work with shouldn't be too difficult."

Namine hesitated but slowly got to her feet. She didn't know the first thing about magic. Adeline at least had a head start on that. But Namine's magic was dangerous. She couldn't exactly practice it. She could sincerely hurt someone if she even tried. If anyone had a better chance of helping Namine control this... curse, then it would be Adeline. Namine wouldn't even know how to thank her if they were successful in their efforts. It would be one less thing for Namine to be afraid of.
"A-Are you sure?" she asked. "Y-You don't mind?"
