"You're beautiful, Weiss. Scar or no scar." Adrien replied with ease. "If the voodoo thing doesn't work out, you could always come model with me. Sometimes they have me partner with people."
Adrien knew plenty of 'beautiful' people who weren't as pretty as they were inside as they were out. Their physical appearances were charming, disarming and all around god-like. But their attitude and treatment of others, made them disgusting. Adrien only dealt with them when absolutely necessary. Weiss had both going for her. She was a good person, whether she believed it or not. She just needed time to figure things out for herself. He would be there when she did.

Weiss made no comment about that. Sure, she may look pretty on the outside, but was she the same way on the inside? She wasn't so sure anymore, and she knew more than a few people who'd probably answer in the negative. She knew her friends would say she was beautiful on the inside too, but that was only because they didn't really know her. Even Riku, who knew how nasty she could be, didn't know the path she was treading now, getting more and more invested in dark voodoo. He'd probably freak out if he found out, maybe yell at her. Her parents certainly would. Her dad might hit her. He didn't do it as much as he used to, but that was only because Weiss fell into line and didn't stray from it. Adrien's voice brought her out of her thoughts before they could get more paranoid, saying that she could always go into modeling if becoming the voodoo queen didn't work out. She gave a little laugh. Even though she doubted she could make it as a model, it was still a nice offer. Adrien was just trying to make her feel better, and she appreciated that. "Maybe. Mom would probably be a model if she wasn't so busy with other stuff. Although I think she'd rather strut her stuff at a party than on the runway."

"It's certainly not for everyone." He shrugged.
He didn't even like it. Photo shoots, fashion shows, standing still and signing autographs. It wasn't the life he would have chosen for himself. It was the life expected of him. Maybe one day he could break into something else but modeling was all he knew. It was the only thing he knew he was good at. Without that, he really was just a pretty face with a basic high school education. He little more than a trophy son for his father to show off, use as a chess piece and manipulate.

Weiss had to agree with that. However, before she could say anything, her phone vibrated. She unlocked it, then gave a sigh. "Speaking of my mom, she wants me home," she said. "More party planning needs to be done." It seemed like her mom was interrupting her time with friends a lot for this. Then again, her mom usually cut her social time short for a lot of reasons. "Thanks for having me over and stuff," she said as she stood up, tossing her hair behind her shoulder as she did. This had been pleasant, even if she had brought up some melancholy conversation topics. She had to remember to be a little more upbeat next time she was around people. She couldn't talk about too many things like good and evil or her situation with her parents without making the people around her start asking questions. They'd start wondering if something was up. No, the best thing to do was to act happy to avoid any suspicion. That was what was best. And Weiss knew all about how to put on an act. She'd been doing it her whole life.

Adrien rose to his feet as she did. It was a shame that Mrs. Lafayette had interrupted but that was what it was. Weiss was still under her parents' care after all. They could enforce a curfew if they saw fit. However, it wasn't helping Weiss any if she was locked away like some doll on a shelf, precious and they're afraid to break it because it's a collectable. No. Weiss wasn't meant for the doll life. She had much more life in her for that. If he could, he would open his home as an escape for her. Heaven knew he had needed one more than once, and while he found that with Yang, Weiss (as far as he knew) had no one she could go to.
"My door is always open." he reassured her. "You're welcome to come over whenever you like."
He began to lead her back to the main entrance. The house would be much quieter without company. Her surprise visit had been the highlight of his day. He was already planning to have his father's tailor take dresses over to the LaFayette home. Weiss would be the envy of her own party if Adrien had anything to say about it. Granted, it was probably a black tie event. He would have to get a new suit. He hated getting fitted for a suit.

Weiss smiled as she walked alongside Adrien. "Thanks. I'll try to stop by sometime soon." That was sure to please her parents, even though she felt like she was risking everything every time she went outside the house. There was always the chance of her shadow spirits being seen. Really, the safest place for them was inside her house, particularly her room. There, they could rest on her bed and run along the walls or curl over her shoulder to see what she was working on. Weiss used to think that being alone was the only time she was truly safe. But now, she felt like the only time she was really protected was when it was just her and her shadow spirits. They'd never hurt her, they'd assured her of that much. Still, keeping herself locked away all the time wasn't good for the family image. The public needed to see the only LaFayette child once in a while. "I'll see you later," she said as she gave a wave and headed out the front door. She didn't look back, but she could feel her shadow spirits trailing silently behind her, staying out of everyone's view.
