Adrien checked himself over in the mirror for the third time before heading out to go pick up Yang for their date. He had stopped at a nearby flower shop and picked up a bouquet. It was probably overkill, but he didn't want Yang thinking that he didn't think she was special. But since he was trying to make her comfortable, he picked an 'average' restaurant, nothing five star or one that would ask her to dress up in something she wouldn't be comfortable in. He had reserved a 'party' room for them to be alone, but they would have to go through a more crowded section of the restaurant to get there first.
He shook his head. He had to get to Yang's first. He drove, a different car from the one he took her in last time. This time he opted for his red mini cooper. Something a little less flashy from his convertible. But was it flashing his wealth by using a different car? He had only wanted to aim for a less conspicuous car. He was a bundle of nerves by the time he pulled up in her drive way. Whether she realized it or not, this was his first date with anyone who actually meant something to him. He wanted to do right by her. He picked up the flowers and looked them over once more. They were Anemone blossoms dotted with baby's breath. The white and purple flowers reminded him of her, particularly her eyes. He smiled to himself and headed to her front door. Knocking on her door was harder than he expected but he managed to do it.

Yang wasn't sure entirely what to expect on this "lunch date." It wasn't like she and Adrien were romantically involved. There'd probably be no hand-holding or kissing or any of the mushy stuff, although Yang wouldn't mind it. But, who knew if Adrien felt the same way, and she didn't want to make things awkward. She'd just have to play it cool. This was a lunch date to help her feel a little better and make her feel more at ease with being out in public. Still, she felt like her right arm stood out a lot, and no clothes of hers made it any less conspicuous. In the end, she decided that people were going to see it no matter what she wore. The shirt she had on was nice, with a nice bright red color. She still opted for jeans though, and flats. Heels would probably just make things more complicated. Her hair was down, which was about all she could do with it these days. She was still trying to get the hang of putting her hair in a ponytail with one hand, although she was getting better every day ever since Omar taught her how to do it. She let out a breath, trying not to feel so antsy. In the past, she only got like this when she was going into a fight and the outcome wasn't in her favor. There was a knock at her door, making her heart jump.
"Yang, relax. It's a lunch date, not an execution," she muttered to herself. Her resolve steeled at that point as she headed to the front door and opened it. Adrien was there of course, but she didn't expect to see the purple and white flowers in his hands. Then again, maybe she should have expected it. This was Adrien, after all. "Oh, wow. You sure like to do things by the book," she teased.

"If I did them by the book I'd have brought roses." he said. "You look great. Uh, not that you don't always look nice!"
And he already stuck his foot in it, didn't he? He took a deep breath and let it out. Just because it was Yang, it didn't give him the excuse to start blathering like an idiot. Spending time around a pretty girl and his brain turns to mush. Yang did terrible things to him with just a smile. She probably didn't know the extent of the sway she had over him. Maybe it was because he had actually been looking forward to seeing her again? It had made the week go by a little faster. He had all but rushed through everything he did, as if to make time go faster. He hadn't dressed himself up too much. He had his hat and his sunglasses, to hide his face but had opted for a casual jeans and varsity jacket combination.
"But, the uh, flowers are for you." he said.

Yang had to laugh. Adrien's nervousness was endearing, although she wasn't sure what he was worried about. They had hung out plenty of times. This wasn't any different. Of course, there were stakes tied to it. Some people might get pissed off if they found out Adrien was hanging out with her. Yang tried not to think about that though, or she might chicken out. The last thing she wanted was to make things worse for Adrien, whose home life was already bringing him down. She didn't want to add to his stress. Still, the flowers looked nice, and they smelled even better. "Thanks," she said, taking them into the house really quick and sticking them in a vase. Usually, they held plastic flowers, but it looked like Yang was finally going to replace them with real ones. She brushed her hair out of her face as she headed back to the doorway. "Alrighty, let's rock and roll," she said, hoping she sounded casual.

"As you wish, Princess," he said.
Perhaps it was the fact she laughed that made him ease up a little. Or perhaps it was because after all the waiting, they were finally there - together - and he could take her out to lunch like he promised. The fast food had been nice, but he also wanted to make sure Yang wasn't becoming a shut in. At the same time, he was taking baby steps. Like reserving the entire party section of the restaurant. She would still be going out, but not forced to be around large crowds just yet. He couldn't do that to her in good conscious. He held out a hand to her and smiled.
"The name's Adrien, I'll be your escort for this afternoon," he joked.

"Okay, we don't have to get too formal," Yang said, although a smile as still on her face as she took his hand. It felt warm around hers, and nice. For lack of a better word, it felt right, although it was still enough to make her cheeks turn a little pink. She wondered what the two of them would look like to any passerby. Would they look like a couple? Or just friends? She wasn't sure which one she'd like people to assume. It almost felt like they were together, although they hadn't really confessed any romantic feelings for each other, and Yang wasn't sure if they ever would. She was scared about what Adrien might say to her, and who knew how he felt. She didn't want to ruin the relationship they already had. If she lost him again, she didn't know what she'd do.

"Hey, I went by our criteria from last time. Lots of calories, whole lot of carbs and deep fried oreos." he chuckled.
He was grinning like an idiot when she took his hand. Absolutely over the moon by the fact she had accepted that. He took her out to the car and opened the passenger door with a smile. It meant he had to let go of her hand, because he had to drive. But small victories. She was willing to hold his hand so that had to count for something. The mini cooper wasn't a big car, but it gave Yang lots of space, which is what he was sure she might need. After she got in, he went around to the driver's side, started the car and headed out.

"Ah, deep fried oreos. A heart attack in every bite," Yang joked. She kept thinking if maybe she made enough jokes, it would ease the nervousness she felt. Still, it was hard to feel too anxious with Adrien nearby. She glanced up when they approached his car, and she noticed it was different from the one he had used to pick her up from the hospital. "So, you got a car for every occasion or what?" she teased as she got inside. Every time she made a guess on how loaded Adrien actually was, it seemed like he did something that upped the numbers a bit. It was a nice car though. Lots of room and it wasn't too conspicuous. It seemed like most people pictured families like the Agrestes running around in limos all the time. Maybe this would throw them off the trail.

"A Princess can only ride in the finest," he replied with ease.
He was a little worried. She didn't want to flaunt his wealth, but it seemed like each time he did something, he did just that. He wasn't trying to make her feel bad because of how much money he had. He was trying to make her comfortable, as best he knew how. He didn't know how to do 'simple' things or at least not 'over the top and extravagant' things. It was one of those things he was going to have to learn. He would do his best for Yang. He might have to talk to Sunshine or Shadow. Probably Sunshine. He didn't want to rub his 'winning the girl' in Shadow's face. Sunshine did normal and she knew Yang better than anyone. Sunshine also wasn't loaded rich like he was. So he could take advice from her on how not to seem like a rich snob even when he wasn't trying to. He offered her a smile.
"So, anything exciting happen while I was gone?" he asked.

Adrien replied casually, although Yang wondered if her joke got to him. He knew his money was something he was self-conscious about, mainly because most people liked him for that reason only. Maybe she could say something that would put him at ease. She was quiet for a moment before she said "Well, I guess that's nice, but not quite as important as the person driving." The car didn't matter much. If Adrien was the one behind the wheel, then she was all for it. When he asked her if anything exciting had happened lately, she gave a shrug. "People have come to visit every so often. That's about it," she said. And usually, they came with some kind of gift or another, especially Jane and Omar. She still had a ton of their sweets sitting in her kitchen. Yang appreciated that they were thinking of them, but she just hoped that they didn't have to feel like they had to see her. She didn't want them to feel like they had an obligation to her, or guilty if they hadn't seen her in a while. Their lives couldn't revolve around her. It was a complicated feeling.

Adrien had to adjust his collar since his face suddenly felt too hot. Important person driving, huh? He could have said the same about the passenger. He gave her a sideways glance and a smile. He had to focus on driving. They were almost there anyways. Somewhere not far from her home, just in case she liked the place and wanted to go back at some point. Because like she said, deep fried oreos were a heart attack in every bite. Who didn't want comfort food when you went through what she had?
"That's good though, glad someone kept you company. I'd have been over sooner but father booked this last minute photo shoot," he sighed. "He's going to 'release' his summer collection and wants my picture in every magazine the day he announces it."
That hadn't been fun. He had been running himself ragged to complete that. But, he managed to negotiate, with his father anyways, to get the Lafayette ladies into the design department for first pick for Weiss' birthday. Weiss would likely get her invitation soon. He would offer the same for Yang, but she would prefer the casual wear line. She would rock a dress, but she probably wouldn't feel comfortable in one.

Adrien didn't say anything in response to that, although he did smile. That was good enough for Yang. It seemed like her arm and his money were equally sensitive topics for the both of them. She and Adrien treaded lightly when it came to those things. Who knew if they could ever reach a point where they could talk about that stuff freely. Yang wasn't even sure if she wanted to. Most of the time, she avoided bringing up her arm herself. It was usually others who addressed it, assuring her that she needed to take her time when it came to healing and that she'd get used to it as more time passed. Yang wasn't sure if she ever would get used to it, but she did have to admit that it was becoming more normal for her every day. It was just part of who she was now, and she had to deal with it. She was brought out of her thoughts when Adrien mentioned being booked for a last minute photo shoot. Mr. Agreste sure did like to show off his son's face. It seemed like new photos of Adrien were in magazines all the time. "Let me guess: cardboard beach set, fake sunlight, and people running around in all sorts of swimwear, right?" she asked. That was what came to mind when she thought of summer photo shoots. The guys always had rock-hard abs and the girls somehow managed to look tan, despite some of them not being suited for it. Maybe magic was involved. People could change how they looked all the time with a certain spells, although the effects usually weren't permanent.

"Actually, a pool." he said. "But I look so good in a swimsuit."
He grinned at her and made sure to waggle his brows so she knew he was only messing around. She would have laughed at the fake tans, the fake sweat and the 'fake' wet shirt photos they had to take. Not to mention all of the photo shopping and magic. He couldn't help but feel that if Yang had been witness to any of them running around, pretending to be all tan and sweaty and buff, she would have died laughing. Maybe he should have brought her along. The laughter would do her good. Not to mention, he bet she would have looked great in a swimsuit.
"And we're here, princess." he said as they pulled in.
The restaurant was close after all. He hoped he had gone with something in her comfort level. It seemed like a mom and pop shop.

"Don't you look good in everything?" Yang teased back. She'd never admit it out loud, but Adrien did seem to be able to pull off whatever he was wearing, whether it was casual clothes or his Chat Noir suit. Yang wasn't sure if she'd be able to look good in anything anymore. She hadn't exactly been vain in the past, but she knew she looked good enough where she could use her appearance to get things she wanted. She doubted she'd be able to pull that off now. She glanced up as Adrien said they had arrived. The restaurant looked average, in between five-star and fast food. It didn't seem to be terribly crowded either, which put her at ease. Maybe she could handle this. She gave Adrien a smile. "This looks nice," she said.

"Is that right?" he asked.
He couldn't help but tease her when she said that. He did like hearing that she thought he looked good. He did worry that his modeling would put off anyone from actually liking him. He kept any further teasing to himself however. He parked the car as close to the front door as possible in case the crowd proved to be too much for her. He gave her a wink before putting on his fedora and aviator sunglasses. He stepped out of the car and walked around the car to open her door, not because he didn't think she couldn't get out on her own, but because he wanted to be polite.
"Figured you didn't want anything where you couldn't pronounce what you ate." he teased.
