After everything that everyone had been through, Adrien decided the best way to get his friends to host a party in his home. Everything would be provided for. None of his friends would have to work the event. He took a deep breath. It was a casual affair. No need for fancy dresses or uncomfortable suits. He preferred it that way. But because of what happened at the LaFayette celebration, he did hire his own security team. Despite the fact his friends were police (mostly), he didn’t want them to work on a night off.
He stood at the top of the stairs, watching as people started to mill into his home. It was probably the first time anyone had come into his house not on business. He even had an interior decorator come in to get rid of the stark blandness his father had the house decorated in. Instead, there were rich, warm colors and it all had a very homey feel to it. He even had a picture of him and Yang in one of the rooms. He smiled. The whole first floor would be for all of his guests to mingle through. The upper floors would be off limits, but only so they could keep everyone in one spot.
Namine smiled nervously at Jane. She was going to introduce her adoptive sister to her half-brother. It was a bit much for her to take in, but Jane seemed receptive to the idea. The two of them came together, hoping that by leaving Aqua alone, it would give Omar a chance to talk to her. The two ‘potential lovers’ had been beating around the bush far too long. Jane proposed locking them in a closet somewhere in this large mansion and refusing to let them out until they came to terms with things. Namine had laughed, but both knew deep down that Omar wouldn’t appreciate the meddling.
Aqua had a feeling Jane and Namine were upset with her. Neither of them even acknowledged her on their way out the door. She had a feeling she knew what it was about. The way she hadn’t spoken to Omar, even after the café. She had tried to talk to him (when Elsa had stopped by to talk to Namine about the final process in her adoption) but at the last second she chickened out. How was she supposed to work up the nerve to talk to someone like him? Perhaps not without a liquid courage.
Axel had been hired by Agreste Junior to tend to his guests. It namely meant liquor them up nicely. He even had his own bar set up for him, providing all the alcohol and giving a central place for people to get drinks, right next to the food. Normally, Axel didn’t take gigs like this, but after seeing the check with his name on it, he was convinced. He really could like this kid. The guy knew how to pay his ‘allies’. Another nice incentive was the guest list. He recognized a few names. He was interested in seeing where the night would go.

Omar had wanted to meet the kid himself. He was Namine's half brother after all and any brother of hers was a son of his, practically. No, Omar wasn't interested in the house or the business, but he recognized a lonely kid when he saw one and before the old man had died, the kid was extremely lonely. But Yang was also in his life and Omar needed to just double check the kid was a good match for Yang. Honestly, he knew he most likely was, but Yang deserved so much. Omar snuck out of the apartment and took a different route to get to the party than his daughters. He was ushered through the door, in his checkered black and white shirt, band tee underneath the open button-up, and beat up black pants and converse shoes. Omar nodded approvingly at the décor. It was exactly how he'd decorate a house like this, if he should ever want to live in a place like this. The kid was already making good marks and Omar approved.

Riku stepped through in his best casual clothes, which honestly 'casual' was a little bit of a lost cause on him. He usually looked like he was trying too hard, or a prep, and he was neither. But he had tried his best tonight and had come out somewhat normal looking. He was used to suits or voodoo garb, or officer uniforms. 'Normal' was beyond him. Luckily Sunshine loved him, quirks and all. He honestly hadn't been in the Agreste manor in years. Adrien was closer in age to Weiss and Riku had pretty much done his own thing, having no interest in playing as a child. But that was behind him now. Now, he could enjoy something like this and maybe get to know Adrien better.

Only one member of the famous BPD team had walked in. The closest to fancy that Shadow did was giving his inhibitor rings, which were showing signs of wear, a polish. The Agaste residence was already more comfortable than the few Lieu Sanglate homes he had gone into. Then again, most of them had been for investigations. He was also not forced to be in fancy panciness. That and the faces in the crowd were people he knew. His phone rang - the guitar tab of Breaking Bad - and he opened it, studying the text from Sunshine. TELL ADRIEN HEY FOR ME. I JUST GOT INTO BATON ROUGE AND WILL BE THERE IN 30 MINUTES. ALSO DON’T BE AFRAID TO FLIRT Flirt? Chat was the charming type and he had Yang. Shadow didn’t exactly...charm.

Yang gave a satisfied smile as she parked her motorcycle near the house. Like a kid with a brand new toy, she couldn't help but show it off everywhere she went. She was proud of it. No longer did she have to walk to work, or rely on friends or public transportation for a ride. She could drive herself anywhere she wanted, and it made her feel a little more independent. Of course, that wasn't her only reason for smiling. Adrien was throwing a party for his friends, and she was pretty sure no snooty, uptight people could sneak into this one. She was hoping this was a party where, for once, nothing went majorly wrong. No party was ever perfect, but it'd be a nice change to go to one where no bad guys crashed it or nothing exploded. That was the main reason Weiss was skipping out on this one. That last party she'd been to was one her parents had forced her to attend and she'd lost control of herself. Granted, it wasn't her fault, but she wanted to avoid parties for now. Apparently, she was also working on something music-related, although Yang wasn't sure what that meant. She just figured her new friend wanted some time to herself tonight.
Making sure her motorcycle was parked correctly, she placed her helmet on the seat, giving a little toss of her hair so it wouldn't get in her eyes. She could see some people already making their way inside and figured she wasn't the first one here. That was fine by her though. Being the first one at a party could be a bit awkward. She looked around for Adrien, but something else caught her eye, something spiky and hedgehog-looking. "Shadow Griffiths at a party? I'm shocked," she said with a laugh. Granted, this wasn't the first time she'd seen Shadow at something like this, but still. It was a running joke, and she couldn't help but poke fun a little bit.

Adrien walked the floor, mingling with everyone so far. It looked like things were going well so far. Everyone seemed happy. Security stayed out of sight but he knew they were there. Nothing could ruin this party. Unfortunately, Weiss declined, but he understood. He just told her they would have to catch up later. Of all the people who would want to avoid a big setting like this it was Yang and Weiss, but Yang didn't seem deterred. Perhaps because she was coming over on her new bike and she could show it off in the front yard. She really was cute when she got excited over things like that.
Jane frowned over the mansion. It reminded her too much of her foster family. If this Adrien brat turned out to be anything like her foster parents, then she was going to do everything in her power to keep Namine as far away from him as possible. Namine was a sweet girl, but she had the backbone of a kitten when it came to pressure. She would give into whatever pressures put on her simply because she was afraid of retaliation.
Aqua took a deep breath. She decided to head over to the bar. She smiled at the redheaded bartender. Her mind wandering to another redhead she would have rather have seen instead, but she quickly shook that aside. She couldn't let herself be dazed and distracted. She wasn't a teenager anymore and she couldn't just daydream and swoon just because a guy asked her out.
"What can I get you?" Axel asked.
"A honey whiskey please."
Something that strong wasn't her normal go to drink, but she needed something a little more potent than her usual go-to sweet drink. She had told herself that if Omar was there, she was going to talk to him. She had to sort this out. No more beating around the bush. Everyone aside from Terra's ghost were trying to warn her about letting something good go before it passed her by. Omar was something very good for her. She hoped she could be the same for him. If he still felt the same.

Omar walked over to the bar and hesitated when he saw who else was there. He sighed and walked straight over to where Aqua was sitting and sat beside her. "Hey electric indigo" he greeted with a small smile. He turned back to Axel. "A black magic if you please, with a lime garnish" He looked back at Aqua. She was nursing a drink that was not her usual. Which Omar had asked Axel about just in case he ever needed to make it for her. "Heavy hitting tonight?" he asked. "Be honest, is it about a guy?" he asked, and laughed a little. It was probably two, her partner and Omar. And that made Omar a little sad, to be the cause of heavy drinking at a happy party. "Wanna talk this over Aqua?"

“Yang Xiao Long attending a mansion affair?” A glint was in Shadow’s eyes as the half Phoenix teased him. She was arriving on a very impressive motorcycle. No doubt who it was that helped her buy it. He came over to join her, also looking around for Adrien. Jane and Namine were around. Aqua and Omar were seated at Axel’s bar. A flash of silver hair he figured was Riku was nearby. “The one time you’ll see me here is when I’m with friends. Wish granted, I know pretty much everyone on the guest list.”

Shadow teased right back, which made Yang smile. "I'm surprised Sunshine's not here yet. She's coming, right?" she asked. Yang was pretty sure she was. Parties didn't intimidate Sunshine too much. Despite not having his best friend by his side though, Shadow actually didn't seem so tense. Maybe because he actually knew most of the people here. Heck, Yang did too. She could see Aqua getting a drink, where Omar smoothly slid over to talk to her. She hoped that any romantic endeavors between them turned out okay. Aqua was hesitant about the whole thing, and for good reason, but Yang knew that Omar would never hurt her. He just wasn't that type of guy. Jane was here as well, with Namine by her side. Yang remembered mentioning how the blonde was actually his half sister, and how a tentative relationship had started between them. And speaking of Adrien, he seemed to be enjoying his mingling. Maybe it was because he actually had control over the guest list for once. No doubt his father usually invited snooty people to these types of things. But this time around, Adrien could actually invite people he liked. It made Yang glad, to see him so happy. She gave a wave and a smile in his direction.

Adrien slowly made his way to Yang. She seemed to have found Shadow. Which he was glad the guy even showed up. Shadow and party don't typically go together unless "will not" is thrown in somewhere in between the words. He grinned as he joined them. As a server passed, he grabbed a glass of champagne. He wasn't sure about how Yang felt about PDA in front of her friends, particularly someone like Shadow. Adrien just gave her a playful nudge and smiled at her. At least at this party he didn't have to pretend he didn't know her.
"Hey, if it isn't my two favorite officers." he teased.
Aqua almost choked into her drink. It was sweet but it burned in her throat. She looked up, startled. She had expected to see Omar at some point, but not for him to seek her out himself. And before she could even muster up her courage. She swallowed nervously, clearing her throat. She then looked to Axel, because how else would Omar know her preferred drinks. The redheaded demon grinned, shrugged before setting Omar's drink down in front of him and walking away, leaving her to finally settle things with Omar. Despite her answer being a positive one, she still felt nervous. What if Omar changed his mind? What if he decided he didn't want her after all?
"Oh no, if I wanted to hit hard I'd have asked for moonshine." she told him.
She had no intentions of getting drunk. The last time she did, Terra had to stop her from dancing on a table and carry her home while she sang. She had a tendency to get a little out of hand when she was. She had no one to take her home or put up with her drunken tendencies. Well, not anyone she would force that behavior on.
"It's... good to see you." she said, fighting back an embarrassed blush.
As they were perusing the room, Namine bumped into someone. She jumped back startled and alarmed. A tall man, with silver hair hair who was much taller than her. Jane helped to keep her upright. The brunette offered her a gentle smile. Despite some of the step forwards she had made, Namine was still the shy and timid girl.
"S-Sorry!" Namine said hastily.

Omar shrugged and took his drink that Axel slid over to him. "Honey, I know stashes if you really want some" he said seriously. "I had connections in the 20's" he still had those connections today, but he was pretty sure Davey didn't care he took some moonshine now and then. He smiled and looked down at his hands, unbandaged now and still red and raw looking. At least the pain was gone. "Yea, it's good to see you too" he told her quietly. "I've missed you, and missed playing with my band. I'm also happy the adoption went through, that made me really happy" also a little sad because of the impending death of Namine, hopefully of old age. "But enough about that. Are you okay?"

Riku was looking around with approvement at the changes to the house and the people that there were here. He'd taken a champagne glass and was sipping on it as he walked around, brought out of his thoughts by a gentle bump into him. He looked down at the tiny little blonde girl and smiled at her. "It's ok" he said with a shrug. "I don't mind. Haven't I seen you around the police station? I'm Riku"

Adrien came over at Yang's beckoned wave. Looks like she had beaten Shadow to get the host of the evening to come by and say hello. A huge difference from the last party in Lieu Sanglate, where the people wanted nothing to do with their guests. "Yeah, Sunshine's on her way. She's driving back from Angola and just got into Baton Rouge."The report was finished just in time for the blonde haired heir to approach. Shadow smiled with the playful way he shoved his girlfriend. It was hard to be bitter around people that showed they genuinely cared, let alone two kids. "Thanks for the invite, Adrien. It was either this or cold pizza in front of a blank screen."

Yang gave Adrien a playful nudge back, although people always said that she tended to nudge others a little harder than most. That was just how she did things. Like Adrien though, she wasn't sure how much PDA they could show right now. Sunshine and Riku's engagement had to bum Shadow out on some level, even if he'd never admit it to anyone's face. And Sunshine had pretty much figure out that Shadow had feelings for her. But Yang still felt like waiting around for him to say something would result in nothing. If Shadow had a secret, beating it out of him had more chances of success than waiting for him to spill it on his own. Still, he smiled at Yang and Adrien's flirting, so maybe he wasn't entirely bitter about it. "Eh, cold pizza's not too terrible of a way to spend an evening," she said with a shrug. "I've done the same thing with some fast food and a cold soda." She gave a laugh. Still, she was glad that Shadow had come. It was nice to see so many of her friends in one place, enjoying themselves. At least, she hoped they were. Aqua was probably tense with Omar sitting right next to her at the bar. She'd have to keep an eye on them, and hope that their conversation didn't end badly.

Adrien had to hide a wince when Yang nudged him back. She could leave bruises if she wanted to. But he still smiled at her. Worth it even if he did. Not every day a guy's girlfriend was likely stronger than him. He didn't mind one bit. And he was happy to see she was settling in with the BPD unit nicely. No one was giving her a hard time about her position in the office or her prior criminal record. He could always have that court sealed, but Yang would probably yell at him for abuse of power.
"Oh," Adrien said with a grin, "I guess if you want pizza, we could order out. But you might break my chef's heart. She's been wanting me to throw a party for ages."
His entire staff was delighted to find out he was hosting an event. Especially his head chef, Clara. He supposed it was because work was dull when you were doing it for only one person. Why have twenty cooks if only one is needed to make a meal for one person? Granted, Adrien always had them cook for themselves too, but his father lived a little more extravagantly than Adrien did (and that was saying something). They all but jumped for joy when he had invited Yang over for dinner a few times. It was like a bad rendition of the disney movie with dancing cutlery and knickknacks, except they were his staff and they were showering him with the questions. Does she have food allergies? Does she like this or that? What's her favorite dessert?
"Yang has been teaching me the joys of fast food."
Aqua found herself giving a fond sigh over Omar. Still the same. After everything that he had been through, he was still the exact same as he was before his run in with the Unseelies. The happy chatty troll who was more concerned with everyone else than himself. Her gaze flickered to his hands. Unbandaged but still tender looking. She was half tempted to run home to consult the potion books she picked up from the library to make a healing tonic or something. She had to quell that thought quickly. She wasn't even sure where she stood with the guy and she was trying to fuss over him.
"I don't need a stronger drink."
She had to keep some levelheadedness about her as she spoke to him. She couldn't be so slobbering drunk she couldn't remember what she said to him. Though she sincerely considered it when he said he missed her, bringing up a bubble of emotion in her. It was funny. Omar could say one little thing and it sent butterflies through her stomach.
"I... missed you too," she admitted shyly. "I've been doing well. It looks like you're making a recovery."
Jane offered Riku her hand. She was going to try to be civil with the police officers for her father's sake. And Yang's since Yang was now a police officer. It just seemed like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape them. Even Shadow who took to drinking at her favorite bar and catching criminals in her favorite hunting spots. She had even invited the guy to come into her class to talk to the kids.
"Jane LaRue. And this is Namine." she introduced. "So... you're Blue's partner, yeah?"
Namine smiled uncertainly. Jane never made it a secret how she felt about cops. She even disapproved of Namine's job with the BPD as the sketch artist. The brunette complained they overworked and underpaid her. It might have been true but it was for a good cause. Namine always had enough for rent (as long as she had a roommate).

"Good," Shadow smiled. Genuinely. Yang and his relationship was one about sacrifice and compromise and making sure the other wasn't missing out on any big things. Small pleasures like fast food were something Adrien needed to get introduced to in his youth. He waved a hand to decline Adrien's offer to send out. "Please, don't worry about pleasing me. This is your party and I should, well, be a better guest." He glanced the mingling, wondering if he should be social and leave the lovebirds be. But it seemed everyone was engaged in private conversations and he didn't want to repeat interrupting Omar and Aqua getting cozy. ______________________________________________ Sunshine didn't know if running was allowed in the Agaste manor. Eh, heck with it, she was late enough. She was bolting through the halls, looking for the hosts or any signs of her friends. Just any familiar face. Much to her relief, literally almost everyone she knew and was comfortable around was mingling not too far from the entrance. Her entrance would have been graceful...had she not flubbed and fallen over her own ankle getting off that last step.

"Heh, well, I asked Sunshine to leave the hands, but she insisted on healing everything else" He flexed his hands. "I needed to remember this somehow, and what better way than being forced not to play music?" he sighed. "I missed talking to you, and I've really wanted to know what was up. You've been avoiding me and acting like a spooked chicken. It's kind of...I dunno, hurtful? except that isn't exactly right" he sighed again. "I just want an answer"\
__
He gave a short laugh. "Yea, I'm Aqua's partner. Nice to meet you, Jane and Namine" he kissed both their hands. "LaRue huh? Like Omar? I love his music" He turned when he heard some commotion and saw Sunshine trip and fall. He winced in sympathy and nodded to the two girls. "I have to help my fiancé" he said by way of goodbye and walked quickly to Sunshine to help her up. "You ok my love?" he asked as he extended a hand.
