"Better hurry Penny, or I'm gonna tag ya!"
"Can't catch me! Can't catch me!"
Yang just laughed as Cody and Penny ran back and forth, trying to tag each other as they made their way down the path. She was just glad that they were doing well, and that they'd had time to come down from New Orleans to visit. She knew they were sad sometimes that they didn't get to see her as often as Louie or Jenny, who conveniently lived in Bellerouge. Of course, they still loved living with their grandmother and were much better off with her than with their alcoholic parents. And Yang knew that was the best place for them. They had their own family now, just like she had hers.
"Yang, where's your boyfriend? I don't see him," Penny said, taking a moment to glance around.
"Penny, you don't even know what he looks like," Cody pointed out. "We've never met him."
"Yes I do," Penny argued. "He used to be in all the magazines wearing all those pretty clothes, remember?"
"Relax guys, Adrien will be here soon," Yang said, reaching over to muss up their hair. Including Adrien on her outing with the kids had been her idea. What better way to spend an afternoon than with some of the people she cared about the most? It was practically a win-win situation, in her mind.

Adrien took a deep breath. This was a big step for them. When he met Yang as Chat Noir, he always showed up after the kids were fast asleep. Adrien wasn't exactly sure how to go about kids. He never grew up around other kids. His father groomed him from childhood to be the perfect heir. Playing was frowned upon. He didn't know how to be a kid.
He headed down to the park. He could see Yang with all of her kids. He was nervous. What if they didn't like him? What if they told her to break up with him? He didn't want to come between her and her kids. They had been a part of her life longer than he had, after all. But he absolutely adored everything about Yang. If she left him, he would break. There was no doubt in his mind.
"Hey," he said as he approached.

Yang looked up as Adrien came up to them and said hello, and her kids did as well. She gave him a smile. "Hey. Glad you could make it," she said as she slipped her hand into his.
Cody and Jenny just looked at Adrien for a long moment, their minds slowly taking everything in: how Adrien looked, how Yang looked once she saw him, how her hand automatically reached for his.
"You guys aren't gonna, like, make out the whole time are you?" Cody finally asked. He didn't find romance quite as gross as Louie did, but watching Adrien and Yang kiss each other all afternoon didn't exactly sound fun either.
Yang pretended to think for a moment before answering. "Well, since you mentioned it, that's exactly what we're gonna do all day."
"Agh, no!" Cody complained as Yang laughed.
"Why do boys hate kissing so much? I think it's cute," Penny said, deciding to be mature about the situation. Adrien and Yang were clearly in love. It reminded her of the princes and princesses she'd see in fairy tales. If Adrien and Yang were like them, then she was all for it. And she was sure her brother was too, even if he was iffy about PDA.

"Wouldn't miss this," he said.
Adrien smiled and squeezed Yang's hand. If the kids hadn't been there, he probably would have kissed her, but they were already saying how 'gross' it was to makeout. But it seemed the 'teasing' would go right out of the gate. That's fine. He could handle a bit of 'hazing' from Yang's kids. They were probably just going to give him a hard time because they loved her first.
"I disagree. I'm a boy and I like kissing," he told Penny with a grin.
The kids were probably going to cringe over that (at least the boys would). They hadn't learned what it was like to be in love, though he hoped they wouldn't rush into that just to find out why kissing was nice. They were good kids, from what he knew about them. Brave, loyal, and enduring. They had been through a lot in their lives. He had hoped when he played 'Chat Noir' he had managed to help make things easier on them. He would continue to help, if they needed it, because they were important to Yang and therefore important to him.
"So, what's the plan for the day?" Adrien asked.

"Aw, that's so romantic," Penny gushed. Cody didn't say anything, but he did stick out his tongue. Yang just laughed and stuck her tongue out back at him. That did make Cody feel a little better. If this guy made Yang smile, then maybe he could handle a little PDA.
"I think the only plan is making sure these little nibblets get their exercise," Yang said, ruffling the hair of the kids' once more. "They're not the type to leisurely stroll."
"We can run on ahead though, right?" Cody asked. "There's a big rock over there and I wanna climb to the top."
"Just stay in sight," Yang cautioned.
Cody grinned. "I'll race ya, Penny!" he called to his sister as he took off. Penny was soon right behind him. Yang laughed again as she turned to Adrien.
"They like you," she said. "Even if they may not explicitly say it."

Adrien smiled. He brought her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. The kids were going to have a tough time of it if they didn't want him to be sweet on Yang. He was too far gone to stop doing that now. She made him happy after all. Very few people brought as much joy to him as she did.
"That's a relief. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do." he said. "I'm trying not to buy their approval."
He hated it when his father did that to him as a child. It made him loathe every gift his father gave him and resent him for forgetting the small things, like his birthday. He didn't want big expensive presents. He just wanted his dad and now he wouldn't get even that. But it had been almost a knee jerk reaction to go out and get them some chocolates or some toys. He luckily had Natalie and Tom. They discouraged that very quickly and gave him the advice of 'being himself' first. Besides, he knew Yang hated it when he went out and did stuff like that. He was making a conscious effort to try not to.

"Eh, they'd like you even without the money," Yang said. "Although Penny has been going through her mom's fashion magazines ever since I mentioned you. She likes pointing out when you're mentioned." It was sweet, in a way. If Penny thought of Yang every time she saw Adrien's name in a magazine, that was fine by her. Although she doubted some of the recent ones were pleasant. She knew everyone was buzzing after Adrien's TV interview where he talked about her and Namine. Adrien had been getting ballsy with the press, and people either hated or loved him for it. "How's everyone been treating you ever since your interview?" she asked. "Has it affected your business?" Calling out the press's bullshit was fun and all, but Yang knew pissing off too many people could mean bad things for the fashion company. Adrien couldn't alienate everyone.

"Good thing I don't do anything kids shouldn't see," he said.
He would have been thoroughly embarrassed had he done underwear modeling. Or worse in the nude. The worst he ever let himself get was when he was in a pair of swim trunks often with a unbuttoned button up shirt. Still, it was rather sweet that Penny wanted to get to know him. He just hoped she took what she read with a grain of salt. The media loved to make their idols out as heroes the moment they took one toe out of line. People were calling him selfish and manipulative. They still thought he was cheating on Yang with the 'other blond'. Rumors were rampant and the papers were lousy with them.
"The media's really heated over it. There's been a lot of arguments." he admitted.
Some people thought he was right to protect Yang and Namine. Others didn't agree. People were trying to figure out who his unnamed sister was. Adrien was doing what he could to keep Namine's name as far away from the press as possible. Yang was relatively safe. She was a cop and could arrest anyone who gave her a hard time. Also, Riku bought her house so since it wasn't in her name, it was harder for people to find her home. But Namine was in the system because of what her father did and in news papers because of the court case where she had to testify against him.
"Business is... business," he said. "A lot of people don't care as long as I'm not saying we should all wear fur or tell them how to design something. The fans are upset since I'm not in as many magazines anymore."

Yang gave a laugh. "Hooray for no nude photo shoots under your belt," she teased. That would have been hilarious, although Yang would be lying if she said she hadn't imagined Adrien that way at least once. But she kept stuff like that to herself. Any talk about her romance with Adrien was kept at a PG rating, maybe PG-13 depending on who she was with. She wasn't too surprised by what Adrien said about the media. Of course they'd be debating what he said like crazy. People loved a scandal, especially when any celebrity told the press to fuck off. At least the business wasn't too affected by it. Yang knew it wasn't Adrien's favorite thing in the world, but at least he was happier working behind the camera instead of in front of it. "I guess fans are a double-edged sword, huh?" she said. They could love you to pieces, or turn on you at the drop of a hat if you did something they didn't like. It probably wasn't easy to deal with.

"It's not something the company would have done. Heaven knows photographers haven't tried when I was on travel." Adrien shrugged. "I have to check rooms for cameras. It's why dad has so many private homes in places we traveled a lot in."
The media had tried everything to get pictures of him doing things he ought not to. They wanted him with drugs and alcohol. They wanted him breaking laws and fighting with the police. If they knew about his stint as Chat Noir, he would have been ruined. But it was a risk he had been willing to make. Now he was in charge of a company. His employees needed him. He couldn't lose the company. If not for his sake but theirs.
"Some of them like you though," he pointed out. "They've been sending me letters that I've been meaning to give to you."
He liked the letters that were sent Yang's way. He pre-read them, to cut out the rude fans and the crazies who in case they tried anything at least they had a warning to show the police, but most of them were kind, thoughtful and positive letters.

Yang grimaced. "Yeesh," she said. "You'd think your dad would have taken you out of the model life if he was that peeved with reporters." Then again, would it have made that much of a difference? Rich people had the media's eyes on them all the time, whether they were models or not. Weiss was certainly evidence of that. Her last name alone made her stand out like a sore thumb. At least she was being kept out of the public eye for now. Yang knew she had good people looking out for her, and she wouldn't hesitate to knock around some reporters' heads if they bothered her. She'd really only had one encounter with the press, and it hadn't ended well. She glanced up though when Adrien mentioned that fans had actually been sending him some positive letters about her. "Really?" she asked, surprised. She knew most of them were okay with her and Adrien being a couple, and even though they were cute together. But she always thought Adrien would always be the center of their attention instead of her.
Penny and Cody heard the letters being mentioned as well, and they were all over that in a heartbeat.
"Do they say how cute you guys are together?" Penny asked. "'Cause you are."
"Do they do that thing where they combine your names together?" Cody questioned. "People do that when they like a couple."
"What would it even be?" Penny asked thoughtfully. "Yadrien? Adang?"
"I highly doubt they've come up with shipping names for us," Yang said. It almost felt a little weird, people being that big of a fan of their relationship. People usually only got that worked up about fictional couples.

"It wouldn't have mattered if I was a model or not. I was his son." Adrien shrugged. "Is it really so surprising that they're want to show their support?"
Speaking of people who were supportive, the kids seemed to share the same sentiment. Adrien smiled when the kids came up to them, eager and excited about the prospect of fans liking the fact Adrien had found someone. They came up with all sorts of mashups of their names. They were cute suggestions, but Adrien didn't do anything with 'ships' like that. His fans could call them whatever they liked (as long as it was kind). Otherwise, what they did together was none of their business.
"I'm don't care what they call us as long as they leave us be." Adrien said.

"Seems like a lot of criticism comes with that support," Yang commented. People were fickle. They could go from loving to hating a celebrity in a matter of minutes if the wrong thing was said. She'd seen it happen plenty of times before. Lucky for Adrien, most of them seemed to support what he'd said, or at least be cool with it.
"Do people not like you guys together?" Penny asked worriedly.
"Relax, Penny. They're just strangers who have nothing else better to do than bash popular people," Yang replied comfortingly. "Worrying about everyone's opinion isn't going to help things."
"I guess," Penny agreed. "At least you don't have to invite people like that to your parties or anything. Or your wedding."
Yang blinked. "Our what?"
"Your wedding," Penny replied matter-of-factly. "It's gonna happen eventually, right? Adrien will buy you a ring, he'll kneel down and stuff, 'cause they always kneel down in the movies."
"Will we have to dress fancy for it?" Cody asked. "I hate wearing suits."
"Guys!" Yang exclaimed, turning bright red. She hadn't realized her kids had thought so far ahead in terms of her relationship with Adrien. And it eerily reminded her of the conversation she'd had with Aqua regarding the topic.

Adrien laughed nervously. A wedding? A ring? He honestly hadn't thought that far ahead, but looking to Yang and her kids, he suddenly felt very dizzy. There was no one he would rather spend his life with. He had to quickly shake himself. Because as much appeal as that had, there was a time and a place. Right now might not have been the time. Plus, they were still exploring their relationship right? Yang hadn't even mentioned anything further, but he had been enjoying her company, without thought of further...
"It's a bit early to talk about any of that," Adrien said.

Penny and Cody seemed confused as to why Yang and Adrien were so awkward about the topic. Didn't people who loved each other get married? It seemed pretty simple.
"But princes and princesses get married after knowing each other for, like, a day," Penny said. "You guys have known each other forever!"
"Fairy tales and real life are a bit different, Penny," Yang explained.
"Doesn't Adrien call you his princess all the time though?" Cody asked, giving an almost suspicious look.
"And his mansion is practically big enough to be a castle," Penny pointed out.
Yang felt her face flush even more. She had to change the topic of the conversation, and fast. Lucky for her, she found the perfect opportunity.
"Oh look, balloons!" she said, pointing towards a sales man with a whole cart full of them, each one twisted into a different shape. In fact, he was already demonstrating to a few other kids how to tie a balloon into the shape of a dog.
Cody and Penny's faces instantly lit up. "I want one, I want one!" they chorused.
"Here." Yang handed each of them some money. "Go pick one out."
Any questions about marriage or princes and princesses were instantly forgotten. Happily distracted, the siblings ran off to the cart, determined to see exactly how these fun-looking balloons were made.
Yang let out a sigh of relief. "Sorry about that," she said, hoping her face wouldn't be so red by the time Cody and Penny got back.
