A burst of green light and then the sky turned red. That was the start of the end. Demons poured into the city. It killed Adrien to let Yang go. He was terrified he would lose her. His beloved. But he couldn’t keep her with him. He knew he couldn’t. She was a protector. A fighter. The city needed her. That didn’t stop him from giving her a desperate kiss and telling her to come back whenever she needed rest.
After that, he opened his home up into a refuge. Anyone who could not fight or were injured could be brought to him. He had his own security team. They were loyally protecting anyone who entered the Agreste Estate. Namine and Lance had all been brought over by Aqua and Jane before the two women headed out to see what they could do to help. Jane was surprisingly good at finding people and covertly sneaking them past the demons. She was also a deadly shot with a gun. If she weren’t a teacher, she would have made a wonderful cop. Adrien stood at his balcony, overlooking the city. The whole place was at war. They were going to have to do a supply run. He didn't have enough to keep all the mouths fed. He wondered if it was time to bring Chat Noir back out. The thief was known among the masses as a protector and a defender of the weak. Even if he stole from the rich. He let out a sigh. The company was put on hold, putting everything they had into keeping the people safe. Luckily his mother had a few fruit bearing trees in the garden, but how long would they last at this rate?

The green light and the red sky were bad. Elsa couldn't saty in her house anymore. It was becoming a prison of ice from her own sadness. Jenna had melted some of that power, giving her a chance to flee. She didn't trust many people in Lieu Sanglate, but there was only one individual that she could go to. She had only met him twice, not counting the hi bye scenarios at public affairs or parties. He was a well-meaning young man and she needed someone with that spark of hope to melt the ice.
Elsa ran to the Agreste Mansion. It was there, a sign of hope. Perhaps a place she could open up to about being part of the problem. Literally. She had only gotten just a few feet on the stairs when the ice spread. She gasped, knowing the sun wouldn't be out to thaw the ice. Humidity couldn't do much of it, either.
"Adrien?!" she called out.

Adrien immediately shot away from the balcony when he heard his name being called. He frantically looked around, trying to find the source. He found Elsa instead and hurried to her side. He quickly glanced her over to make sure she was unharmed. Too many people coming through his gates had been hurt. He had never wanted to see Elsa as one of those people. He didn't want to see any of these people hurt. His heart clenched when he saw her, frazzled, frightened, just like everyone else.
"Elsa, are you okay?" he asked, in case he missed an injury.

"It's a long story," the lawyer shook her head, too tired to regale anyone again with how she had become the Vessell of Sadness. She had already given the information to Jenna and the last thing she needed was someone else going to try and punch the demon woman who did this to her in the face. But as he looked her over, she gave him a grateful smile. At least he was looking her over to make sure she was okay.

"I..."
He wanted to ask but Elsa looked exhausted. Pushing now wouldn't do either of them any good. When she was ready, she would tell him. She might have been fine physically but demons could do a number emotionally or psychologically. He had seen the damages first hand. There were plenty of people taking refuge in the manor for him to know. And more kept coming in each day once they heard he was trying to make a safe space and keep the demons out.
"Do you want something to eat? The kitchens aren't as well stocked as they used to be but I'm sure we can find something."

Elsa looked at Adrien with her broken blue eyes. Food had been something that had been available to her, yet for some reason she couldn't find it in herself to go and eat. Her stomach growled like an untamed animal. She doubled over in pain, wincing from the stabbing sensation an empty stomach gave someone with very little in their systems. What was she doing? Starving herself to death? She had tried to contact people for help and food. Yet hardly anyone helped. It was why she was at Adrien's door like a beggar in the cold.
"Food...food would be good. Thak you."

Adrien smiled sympathetically and put a hand on her back, to guide her to the kitchens. Times had been tough on everyone. He didn't want anyone to feel unwelcomed or to feel pressured. He wanted people to feel safe, even if this wasn't their home. But it was easier to fortify than a school or a church. Also far more comfortable to house more people. He had entire wings of bedrooms that never got used. Despite the circumstances, the house had never been more full of laughter. Kids were playing in his entertainment room, teachers were still trying to keep lessons going. Adults were trying to help out however they could. They were pulling together as a community.
"I'm sure we can find you something." he reassured her gently.

Elsa smiled as the young man placed a reassuring grip on her back. She had expected her colder powers to react and freeze him into a block of ice, it had been happening ever since she became the Vessel of Sadness. Yet the fear of that happening didn't come true. Perhaps with Disparion emerging, the need for a vessel was no more. She followed him in silence, looking around at everyone. It seemed in the foyer of the manor, people were trying to continue their lives as if a simple power outage had happened and not the end of the world. She walked through the kitchens, all ironically placed in cold colors, including the metal cabinets and ovens, praying there was something she could eat.
"Just anything will do," Her blue eyes fell on the remains of a Nevermore demi baguette. She had loved eating those. The lawyer took the bread and began ripping it, greedily shoving a piece into her mouth.

Adrien smiled when she helped herself to a baguette on the counter. It wasn't as fresh as it could have been but they were making due. He opened the fridge and found some soup left. He heated the food up for her before pouring it into a bowl for her. He placed the serving in front of her. The soup would go well with the bread and it would warm her up. She needed it.
"I think Mr. and Mrs. Seddon are here too. They help with cooking." he explained and held out a spoon for her.

“Is Yang all right?”
She had seen him and the half Phoenix cop many a times. Truth be told, she was happy for him. Correction, happy for them. The rich herby smell of soup cane from the bowl presented to her. Elsa accepted the spoon and dug greedily into the offering. How long had it been since she ate this soup? It was filling her up, pushing back all senses of sadness. It was filling her with nostalgia almost. On days when her father felt like approving her icy skills, he would reward her with bowls of delicious piping soup.

"As well as can be expected... She's out there somewhere..."
He looked to the window overlooking the city. It used to be a glorious sight. Instead, it filled him with dread. He refused to lock her up for her own safety, as much as he wanted to. He just wanted her safe, but there were people out there that were only alive because she had helped them. But he was so scared for her. He couldn't lose her. Not out there in that mess. He wanted to be there with her. He might already have run out if not for the number of people who needed him there.
"She wanted to help and I couldn't... keep her here."

“Ralph is out there, too.... I miss him.”
A look of sorrow fell onto Elsa’s pale face. The sorrow was genuine and longing. It wasn’t the cutting depression that had been ailing her since Lilth’s attack. Much like Adrien, she knew why he was out there. People were at the mercy of demons. The Others Unit needed support. Who better than a former officer?

Adrien had never personally met Ralph, but he had heard good things. Had followed up on him, basically doing a background check for the sake of knowing that someone aside from the BPD was looking out for the 'little people'. Adrien had decided to live and let live with that. They both had people they loved in the midst of the dangers. But Adrien knew he was needed here. He couldn't just abandon people in this time. As much as it tormented him to be away from Yang.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. There are others out there fighting too."

Elsa said nothing but had given a small nod. Fighting. It was everyone in this town seemed to be doing. There was always something to fight, be it a demon o the streets or a man abusing power. There were heroes to stop them, but who would stop those that did harm? Her heart began icing over, the guilt of being part of the revival of Disparion crawling through her blood.

"You're welcome to stay here." Adrien said. "We're trying to keep people safe. I'm afraid we don't have a lot of weapons though... But a few police officers brought over munitions from their personal armory."
Adrien worked with fabrics and fashion, not weapons and fighting. Though Chat Noir could stand his ground. Adrien himself had gone outside of the gate a few times on supply runs. He was fast and could get in an out of sticky situations thanks to his years of exercise. He had killed a few demons himself. His power helped smite his enemies to ash, but even he knew when to run and when to fight.
