"Remind me to find you a guy that isn't this dramatic," Yang joked with a laugh. She did feel a little better, after talking with Jane. Maybe this situation with Chat wouldn't be fixed for a while, but at least she still had her friends by her side. That had to count for something, right?

"I'm happy single," Jane replied. "Thank you."
Not to mention her dad would probably freak. First big 'milestone' life event and she would get a boyfriend? Let something else big happen before she even broached that one with a twenty foot pole. She was fine right where she was. She still needed to get used to the city anyways. Her date life could wait. She also wanted to make sure that everything was in order for Yang before she even thought about herself. It was just how Jane was.
"Besides, I wouldn't know what to do with a boyfriend. Am I supposed to feed it three times a day? Walk it twice? Let it outside so it could do it's business?"
She winked.

Yang laughed. "Don't forget to give it lots of attention," she said. It was interesting though, Jane's happiness of being single. Stereotypical girls weren't like that. Heck, they usually made finding boyfriends their prime job. At least, that was how it was in sitcoms and movies. Yang had been like that too, for a while. Sure, she'd flirt with people every now and then, but she never actively sought a romantic partner. She hadn't even really planned it with Chat. It just sort of happened.

"See? I'd be no good at that sort of stuff!" Jane laughed. "If anyone needs to get back in the dating game, it's my dad."
She knew her dad probably had other lovers before her mother. He just had a hard time getting past her probably because the two of them had settled down and had a family, only for it to be tragically ripped away from him. He was probably holding out right now because he didn't want her to think he was just over her mother. She knew what a troll's life was like. She was just coming into her young immortality but her father (though she didn't know how old he was) had ages and ages on her.
"Know anyone who can withstand hard rock and grumpy trolls?"

"Not off the top of my head," Yang answered. "Though he does have these groupies that show up to his gigs and stuff. You know, typical fangirls." Heck, Yang had thought Jane was a groupie when she had first met her. That had been her explanation as to why Jane had been so eager to see Omar. In a way though, it was interesting, how Jane wanted her father to find love again. Some people in her position might be against that, like a little kid who didn't want their parent to remarry again for fear of replacing the deceased spouse. It looked like Jane was past that point though, and just wanted her dad to be happy.

"Yeah, probably only good for one night stands." Jane mused. "Nothing substantial."
Who knows? Maybe her dad would get a kick out of that? She was relearning about him and about everything that happened in between her disappearance. He carried a sort of sadness with him, one that lingered and ached. She too was sad at times, but she had been filled with so much joy over their reunion that the same sadness that had burdened her before, felt years away, almost untouchable.
"Oh well. Plenty of time to figure out someone who'd put up with him." she laughed.

"Yup," Yang agreed. That was one of the perks of being an immortal troll, she supposed. You had plenty of time to find your soulmate. Yang just wondered if Omar would ever be up for getting together with someone again, after losing Jane's mom. She figured only time would tell.

"Don't think this gets you off the hook," Jane said. "When you finally do talk to Chat Noir, I want details. Every little bit."
She jabbed a finger at Yang. She would have teasing fodder for ages after they talked. She could already think of a few to tease Yang with now but since they weren't technically together and didn't know of Chat felt the same, she was going to save them up. And Chat... Jane was going to have words with that man when she finally met him. A shovel talk and a lecture on how to properly treat someone.

"I guess I can promise that much," Yang said. She had already talked about Chat for quite a bit. She couldn't be worried about what he would think that she blabbed about what had happened between them to someone. She couldn't exactly stay quiet about this anyway. What he had done had hurt her, even if it was for her own good. She had to vent about it to someone, right?

"I'm holding you to it!" Jane faux threatened.
This was nice. Jane couldn't remember the last time she actually sat down, talked about boys and giggled over it with anyone. Really it was something her foster parents disapproved of, mostly because high society had standards and blah, blah, blah. Whatever. She liked it better here anyways. Her dad and Yang had been all the company she ever needed.
"So, how are the kids?" she asked.

"They're doing fine," Yang replied. "They're doing the usual stuff, I guess." She ran a hand through her hair. "Jenny's been talking with some mice that have decided to move in. We've basically established a 'don't bother me and I won't bother you' thing. But she still likes to chat with them and give them part of her dinner." Jenny was just like that with animals. Because she could understand them, she treated them just like her friends. Yang felt like it was pretty handy sometimes, when it came to sharing spaces with things like mice or stray cats.

"Doesn't every kid want a pet?" Jane asked. "I always wanted a pet but my foster mother thought they were disgusting creatures."
The woman wouldn't have taken care of it. Really, she would have hired someone to care for the animal so she didn't have to and make sure the creature stayed out of her hair/sight. Probably for the best that Jane never got one. Maybe she would get one now. She was an adult after all. Granted, immortality... She would outlive any pet she got. That was always sad. Maybe she would get old animals and give them a good home in their upper age...? Decisions for another day.

"Pretty much," Yang replied. "I've already got four mouths to feed though. I don't know if a fifth could be added right now." Besides, any stray animal running around here was probably better off with another owner anyway. Yang felt like she was good with kids. Pets, not so much.

"Yang," Jane said gently, "You're doing just fine as you are."
She smiled. Indeed, Yang carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. Four kids was enough to worry about. She had a lot of work with the four of them, even though the kids were all so smart and did whatever they could to help Yang. She reached across the table to squeeze one of Yang's hands. Yang had so many reasons to be hurting right now but Jane didn't want Yang to have to worry about the little things.

Yang smiled back. "Thanks," she said. "Really." Yang did most of the things she did without expecting anything in return, but getting a compliment or some reassurance every once in a while couldn't hurt. She knew some might frown upon what she was doing, raising kids this way. Louie had compared their little group to Peter Pan and the Lost boys a few times in the past, how they could act like kids for as long as they wanted and no dumb adults could tell them what to do. Yang had thought the comparison cool in the past, although sometimes she wondered if that meant she was doing the right thing. After all, the main point of the book was that Wendy and her brothers opted to grow up, even though it wasn't the most fun thing in the world. Yang wondered if a choice like that loomed in her future at all.
