Outwardly she appeared calm, but inwardly she was questioning herself quite extensively. What was she doing? Was that like her asking him out? Is that what they were doing with themselves? Casually running into one another and making something more out of it? Was it bad she wanted to see him again? Either way, that was a headache she didn't want to deal with at the moment. She would probably just go home and try to sleep this off.

He looked at the receipt given back. Yikes. There was going to be a dent in his bank account after this. Probably best to get his coffee from Thomas at the kiosk. Sunshine’s stepbrother has been working there since a promotion. He pocketed this card and carefully set up a tip. It would distract him from being conflicted.

"I guess I'll see you around then," she said.
She got to her feet and paused. She had gotten him to pause for now. He ate something because he was positively famished. She knew that once she wasn't around him, he would go full throttle back into his research because the safety of the city was a stake. However, that being said, he wouldn't be able to do a damn thing if he was exhausted to the point of collapse so she turned over her shoulder and offered him a smile.
"I meant what I said about sleeping." she told him. "I do have means of getting tranquilizers. Well, have a good night, Shadow!"
With that she headed out of the shop. Was it bad she threatened a cop? She was pretty sure that would get her arrested under normal circumstances.

The best way to deflect a joking threat? Make it a joke. He didn’t doubt that Jane was stocked with tranquilizers. The office was too, but there had yet to be a homunculus tranquilizer that did the job correctly for him. The hint shook him, though. Did Jane...care for him? The sarcasm went away with his departing words,
“Have a good night, Jane.”
