Vanitas grimaced. He didn't like the idea of Moses modeling, but he knew they couldn't live off of his illegal job and Moses' shifts at his work. He also didn't want to share Moses with anyone. If he was a model, he would basically be putting himself up on display for anyone to see. But Vanitas had already voiced that as much. He hadn't liked sharing. His shoulders slumped in defeat. Moses was determined to get the two of them somewhere other than that basement. It just left a bitter taste in his mouth since his contributions weren't much.
"Only until we're somewhere else," Vanitas sighed.

Moses bit his lip but shrugged. "Okay" he wanted to keep doing the modeling job, to keep them afloat, but if Vanitas didn't want him to, then he supposed he really couldn't argue. They were partners, they had to be on the same page and all that. Moses just wanted to keep the peace. He loved Vanitas, it would be okay. "Okay, I'll just keep the job till we get somewhere else, somewhere nice. Then, I'll say goodbye to the job, alright?"

Vanitas slumped. Moses wasn't happy with that. He screwed his eyes shut, willing himself to say the right thing. He was being selfish. Only thinking about his wants. Moses had already given up a lot for him. He threw away his friendship with Yang though it might be salvageable... Doubtful but still not impossible. He had also gone against Pitch in asking for help. He was burning his bridges with all the people closest to him all for Vanitas' sake.
"Let's... just get out of here first and go from there," he resigned. "I don't want to share you but if you like it I don't want to take that from you either."

"We'll have to see if I like it or not" Moses said, a little surprised Vanitas was being so good about this. If he didn't want to share Moses fine. Moses was flexible. He didn't really want to share Vanitas either anyway. But in order to grow they both had to make some more sacrifices. Moses just supposed time would tell which sacrifices they would make. "I just want to do it because it pays a whole hell of a lot and that's a good thing. Whether or not I enjoy it is secondary to need right now"

Vanitas nodded slowly. He would have to see about getting a different job without pissing off Cruella. He could still do work on the side for her but only so long as Moses didn't find out. Still he would have to do something. Try and show that he was changing even if he wasn't sure he was. It was going to be harder than he thought. No snap his fingers and he was good.
"I'll try to find another job." Vanitas said. "And... if you don't like it we'll at least be able to have that."

"If you don't want to quit, I guess you don't have to. But if you get an offer for what sounds like a better job, tell me? It's all I'm asking" he hesitated and then "Maybe don't tell Cruella you're my boyfriend. Knowing her she'll try to get me back, I brought in a good revenue for her and she loves making money" he shook his head. "I'd rather not work for her unless there's no other option" he hesitated again. "That doesn't mean you can't work for her though. If you want to of course, and you're careful, you can do whatever you want"

"I won't tell her," Vanitas reassured Moses. "She doesn't need to know about us."
If Moses didn't want contact with Cruella, Vanitas would not let it happen. He would do what he could to keep Moses from Cruella, so long as that was what Moses wanted. Us. That word left a weird feeling inside of him. He was pretty sure it was something positive but he couldn't name it. He pushed it away rather quickly. He didn't want feelings right now. They messed with his head.
"I'll look for something," he said.

Moses smiled gratefully at Vanitas. "Thanks Van" he said quietly. This was turning into quite the goldmine for digging out sweet gestures from Vanitas. Not that Moses was necessarily trying, but knowing that Vanitas was making the effort touched him in a deep way. It showed Vanitas was trying to improve, and that made Moses happy. "You don't have to look for anything if you don't want to" he reassured him. "It's only if you want to. Maybe you're going to enjoy working for Cruella. I had no right to react the way I did"

"Yeah, well, we'll get there when we get there," Vanitas said gruffly.
He quickly looked away from Moses, trying to seem calm, tough and aloof. He hadn't actually done any work for Cruella yet. She said she would call him in for 'collections' but she had yet to have anyone who needed his kind of encouragement. Which was fine by him. For now, he could sort things out. He wanted to try to figure out how to 'be good'. It wasn't going to happen if he had all these outside influences trying to make their way into his head.

Moses hugged him. "Agreed" he said and laid back on the mattress and stared up at the darkness above them. "But for now I'm tired and I'd like to take a nap before I do anything. Do you...want to cuddle?" he asked with a mix of embarrassment and hopefulness. He would really like to sleep with his favorite person in the world right now.

He laid down next to Moses. He knew Moses was probably tired from working not to mention all this serious talk. Vanitas himself was feeling a little fried as well. He needed some quiet so he could sort things out. He wouldn't quiet look at Moses as he settled down next to him. He just hoped Moses wouldn't make a big deal out of it.
