Sunshine's silence seemed to say more than anything else at the moment. Yang looked up, and her heart clenched when she saw her friend's eyes filling with tears. And when Sunshine answered her question, she realized why. Her own eyes widened as things clicked together in her head. Shadow going in...the green light happening afterwards...did one cause the other? "You don't think he..." Her voice trailed off, not even wanting to voice it. Shadow couldn't be responsible for this, could he? Why would he do it? Why willingly let Disparion here? It didn't make sense.

Sunshine shook her head quietly. She saw it all. She saw him go in and the green light. She still was recovering from the slight headache about it, too. Her hand fell to one side. Hanging off of her wrist was a golden ring, shined to a polish, glistening. It may have just looked like an expensive bracelet, but anyone who knew Shadow knew exactly was it was.
“He left the other one to you and Pitch. He said he trusted the Others Unit with them for...when he was gone.”

Wait...was that...Yang's heart skipped a beat. Hanging off of Sunshine's wrist was one of Shadow's inhibitor rings. Why would he...Yang struggled to string her thoughts together, let alone respond to what Sunshine was saying. What the hell did that mean, "when he was gone?" It sounded like something someone would put in their will. Her hands clenched into fists. "I don't care who he leaves them to," she replied, her voice trembling with anger. "He's gonna get them back anyway, 'cause we're gonna find him, and he's going to learn not to fucking string people along like this." Why would Shadow do this instead of just explaining what was going on? Didn't he trust her with the truth? She couldn't help but feel hurt.

"Yang. Getting angry about this will only make the situation worse. Disparion feeds on negativity. You saw how he got people to feel the worse...and then just...literally helped him out." She learned the truth too late. Disparion had sent a demon to mess with the minds of certain people, bring out the worst in them. "He didn't tell me the whole truth either. At least not in person." She reached into her pocket, pulling out the folded sheet of paper Shadow had given her before he literally went to hell. "And even with this, there are still some holes."

Yang let out a breath. She knew she was getting overemotional. She couldn't let her anger get out of control. Although, when she thought about it, her anger was only half the problem here. There was also her fear. It was pulsing quietly in the back of her mind, but it was still there. She couldn't help but remember her parents, how she'd been too slow to save them, how they'd ended up dying before she could reach them. What if the same thing happened to Shadow? What if she was too late again? Shadow may not have been related to her, but he was a father figure to her. Losing him would be like losing her parents all over again. She shook the thoughts away, determined not to indulge in them for a second. She couldn't think of the worst outcome on this. She had to remain hopeful. Even so, it looked like even Sunshine didn't know the whole truth. She pulled out a piece of paper and Yang glanced up. "What is that?" she asked.

Riku was having a day. One minute he was carrying along getting donuts from his new family in law, and the next there was utter apocalyptic chaos going on and he didn't know where his wife was. He needed to make sure she was okay before anything else, at least that was what his heart said. His sense of duty on the other hand...He'd almost shot three terrified citizens in his panic, mistaking them for monsters. He'd directed them to safety when he realized who they were though, and continued on his way. The next time it happened though, well, the citizen wasn't completely defenseless and Riku had heard stories about him. Mainly, not to trust the djinn. Aqua had issued a warning about Constantine. Constantine on his part was sending fireballs through two creatures trying to attack some kids. So Riku felt compelled to help him. Maybe they could strike a deal. Riku pulled out his gun and loaded some jade bullets before taking a pinch of combustible powder and blowing it in the eyes of the demons. They screamed and cried out in agony as he shot them. Constantine nodded at the actions.
"I owe you my life and the lives of these two wee babes. I don't like that"
"Well, since I saved you, you owe me. I'd like you to help me find my wife, as soon as we take care of these kids"
"No worries lad, I told them to go to a friend's. She'll probably get them to safety"
"...Do I want to know who this 'friend' is?"
"All you need to know is she's a good leader. Now, who's your wife lad?"
"Sunshine Seddon"
"Do you have anything of hers?"
Riku pulled out of his pocket a locket, which he'd kept some of Sunshine's hair. He used it to make a small ward of luck and protection for her, but hadn't had the time to give the now spelled hair back. It would come in handy. Constantine took it and began mumbling words, lifting off the ground and being wrapped in an aura. He settled to the ground in a few minutes and the hair charm glowed white purple. It floated just above Constantine's hand. "I'll take you to her, the charm will lead but only in my hands" the blond said and Riku grimaced but nodded.
"fair enough. Just take me there"
it was the cemetery. Of course it was.
"Sun?" Riku called, tense.

Sunshine handed the paper to Yang. The paper was scrambled with Shadow's signature scrawl. In fine detail, it explained everything that was happening. He was stuck in this bind with Disparion and had no choice but to bring on the end of the world. All because the professor had made a deal with Disparion involving Project Shadow. It was an awful way to picture it, but Sunshine could understand a man desperate to save his only family would go to such extremes. "The good news is he's not...GONE gone." Yet her smile was strained. Shadow might have been stuck in the underworld or wherever, but would be come out alive? She couldn't say. She spun the inhibitor ring around her wrist. Shadow was her best friend. Why wouldn't he trust her as she trusted him? Out of protection?
Someone called her name and she spun around, a hand on her gun. That may have sounded like Riku, but for all she knew it could have been Lilith playing tricks. She glared through the fog.
"Who's there?!" she demanded. "We have guns! And....everything but the kitchen sink!"

Yang was silent for a moment as she scanned the paper. So this was what had been going on. At least Shadow hadn't brought about the end of the world willingly. He'd had no choice. Yang still felt like she would have liked to at least try to stop it though, before it happened. If Shadow had told her about this sooner, she would have done all she could to help. Why did he feel like he had to deal with this alone? Why keep all these secrets? Weren't they close enough to get past all that? She pushed the thought aside, deciding to worry about it later. Sunshine had said that Shadow wasn't completely gone, so that was good. She just hoped he stayed that way long enough for them to find him, or he might be gone for good. She looked up when she heard a voice call Sunshine's name. It sounded an awful lot like Riku, but Sunshine reacted on the offensive, maybe thinking it was a trick or something. It was the end of the world, after all. You couldn't be too careful. Yang's fists glowed lightly with flames as she stood alongside Sunshine, although she did smile slightly at her friend's "kitchen sink" comment. "Just come out nice and easy, buddy," she said calmly. "If you're some monster pretending to be Sunshine's husband, you've got another thing coming."

Riku paused at their defenseive stance called back to him, but he supposed it was only natural. It was the end of the world after all. He could be a demon playing mind games. "Well, I brought a demon along" he called back. "But Constantine owes me for saving his life. I promise, it's me. Sun, are you okay?" Constantine rolled his eyes and walked forward calmly as though two police women threatening to blast him with magic and bullets was a normal occurrence in his life.
"Relax girls. He's here to help and I'm here to watch" Constantine gave them a smile as his eyes glowed. "I was a-goin to see a friend when all hell broke loose-literally, and my old master showed his face. But don't worry. I might not be sided with good, but I'm no longer really a part of his army" he looked down at his hands. "Being trapped in the body of a human warlock will do that"

Sunshine stayed absolutely still. While her hand slowly lowered from the gun, the threat to shoot being lost to the favor of a parley, she still was mistrusting. Not of her husband, but of the demon he brought with him. The face was one she recognized. John Constantine, who would come in once in a while but something rubbed her the wrong way. It was then that he confirmed an “old master.” It had to be Disparion.
“Doesn’t hurt to have someone who worked for Disparion once. But what’s in it for you?”

At least it looked like Riku was real. Yang had to take comfort in that much. However, she wasn't too sure about the guy he brought with him. He gave her a bad feeling, although she wasn't sure if that was because of her own bad run-ins with demons. Still, if Shadow and Pitch could prove that not all demons were crazy psychopaths, then she was willing to at least believe that Constantine wasn't going to attack them right this moment. Still, Sunshine had a good point. What was in it for Constantine? She glanced at him, wondering what his answer would be.

Constantine hesitated. "Cruella...I want to give her a chance to regroup her girls. Her pack is her life" And Cruella had turned into his life. He wouldn't mind being the hybrid's mate, or partner or whatever she wanted. He just wanted her and her girls safe. "Being in a somewhat human body gave me emotions. I want to protect the one person dear to me, and the people who are dear to her" he might as well be honest.
Riku looked at Constantine. "Cruella the rumored underworld boss? You..." he shook his head with a half smile. Love sure was strange. "Aright, you have people to protect too. Let's get this taken care of so nobody any of us cares about gets hurt"

Sunshine's green eyes flashed with unspoken anxiety. Cruella...as in Cruella D'Enfer. She knew exactly who he was talking about. The lady had been a socialite that chose to open a sketchy nightclub in Garcon Perdu to supposedly give the poor a chance for a good life. She also had a habit of ordering incredibly complicated coffee orders at the Nevermore. That and every single one of her fur jackets smelled like copper. It made her stomach curdle. She wanted to just vomit right there, but she swallowed thickly, tasting bile. "We may be here longer than you would like if you want to find her pack," she muttered. "Detective Shadow Griffiths has disappeared, and, well, we're," she gestured to the cops, "here to see if we can find any clues."

Yang raised an eyebrow. Cruella had a sketchy reputation, although she'd never been convicted of anything. Was Constantine seriously involved with her? She decided not to ask. If she was willing to put aside her disdain for Vanitas aside to make Moses happy, she could work for this guy in order to find Shadow. Sunshine seemed to think the same as she gave Riku and Constantine a summary of what they were doing. "We're looking for the grave of a girl named Maria Gerald," she added. "She was a friend of Shadow's."

“She was also one many people killed years ago during an ambush on a secret lab hidden somewhere in Bellerouge,” Sunshine chimed in. “Shadow made her a promise to protect the city. A promise he intended to keep...well, for the most part.” She wasn’t sure how sending the world to hell entailed keeping Maria’s promise, but maybe looking around would help. She scanned the area, sighing and punching a stone demon in the face. “What kind of government kills a twelve year old girl?”
